       Invisible (Kansas and Kyler)
By: Sabine Daniels Date: December 14, 2013, 1:20 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"Now, please open your text books to page 104 as we discuss the
effects World War 2 had on the American economy." The professor
began in his monotone voice. Another day in in economics with a
long winded man, one who obviously loved to hear himself speak.
Kansas hated this class, but she needed it to fulfill her course
requirements. It made her wonder, however, if a business degree
was actually for her. As much as she wanted to run her family's
company one day, she much preferred the arts. Writing, painting,
and photography were all hobbies of hers, though she never
shared any of her work; nor was there anyone to enjoy any of
       them.
See, Kansas was an only child, to parents who rarely spoke to
her. In fact, the had made certain that she was accepted into a
university thousands of miles away; which was easy to accomplish
when billions of dollars were at their disposal.
This fact did not go unnoticed either. No, she was immediately
pegged as the rich girl who paid for her grades. Truth be told,
she worked hard for her A's, but it did not stop the rumors from
spreading. Nor did it stop people from either asking for money
or being too intimidated to approach her.
It was strange, though. Not one person would attempt to be a
true friend to Kansas, despite her noticeable beauty and kind
demeanor. With every day that passed, she sat in the quad at
lunch or at her apartment on the patio, and watched others laugh
       and converse without her.
And so, Kansas sat there in her econ class and wondered why she
       was invisible to the world.

Class was over. Time to go home and relax. As much as she
enjoyed some her classes, Kansas was filled with joy when she
could go back to her apartment and relax. There, the world could
not see her cry herself to sleep or fill the void with writing
       and drawing.
But, in route to her car, she accidentally collided with another
stupid. Her books and papers fell to the ground around her feet.
And while she bent to fetch her belongings, the only thing the
other person offered was a snide comment.
"Why don't you watch where you are going rich bitch."
Kansas had heard these comments whispered behind her back, but
this was the first time she had heard them up close. The
rudeness of the boy brought her to tears, another first for her.
She was suffering for no known reason, except that she was the
one who apparently had a lot of money. That hardly seemed right
       to her.
So, as she cried and gathered her things, she whispered under
her breath, "what did I ever do to deserve this?"

He had been sitting in the courtyard for quite some time. On the
farthest bench from everyone possible. His eyes closed and head
tilted back. Blinking his eyes open as his headphones were
drowned out by the sound of stomping and talk. He sighed and
shook his head. Time to go home finally. His assignment for his
current class was to come to fruition on a musical lesson. He
stood up and stretched his arms above his head. Pulling the ear
bud from his left ear he started walking. All until he heard a
rather loud "Thud!" Then the clatter of books and paper on the
ground. He squinted in he direction of the noise only to see a
       girl kneeling and crying.
A rather huge jerk who had just walked away from her was walking
towards him as he rolled his eyes. He blinked and closed his
eyes his right shoulder pointed out as he kicked the guy's foot
out from under him and threw his shoulder into his chest. A
crowd stopping to check what just went on as the kid lay on the
ground his hands to his chest as he groaned. He scoffed and spat
on the ground next to the kid. "How about next time you watch
where you're going Prick, and treat a lady with respect like she
deserves." He growled and looked around. His glare piercing
anyone who was dumb enough to look at him back. They all looked
away instantly as he looked back down at the guy and shook his
head. "Unlike her she wasn't spoiled and she didn't ask to come
here like some of you brats, before you go spouting your mouth
how about thinking first on how it will effect others."
He sighed and kicked the kids bag out of his way continuing on
his own path. Kneeling in front of the girl and lifting her
stuff into a pile in his left hand. His right he offered to her
as he stood up and tilted his head. "The manners at this school
is lacking, quite like the intelligence of the student body. I
apologize for everything these rude people have done so far. May
I help you up?" He blinked and smiled lightly, putting his hand
lower and nodding. Once her hand was in his own he would lift
her lightly onto her feet with a soft yet firm grip on her hand.
His left offering her papers and books back as he shook his
head. "For someone so beautiful you'd think the so called
Gentleman at this school would be a tad more generous to a lady
like you. Though they couldn't tell generosity if it came from
their own parents." He shook his head again, fixing his hair
with his now open hand as he pushed it backwards. "Miss Kansas I
presume, the pleasure is mine I assure you, my name is Kyler
Jaques. Typical musician and Lacrosse player by choice." He
offered a lower nod as if to bow, only to stand once more and
       smile.

A hand, in her face? A hand being offered with the notion of
kindness. Kansas sniffled and wiped at her eyes with the back of
her hands. A hand for her? Had she lost her mind?
Her eyes followed the hand up its arm, and toward the face of
its owner. Kyler Jacques. She had seen him before, plenty of
times. He might have even shared a class or two with her. Why
would he speak to her now? He hand said a single word to her all
year, but then she hadn't said anything to him either.
Kansas wasn't going to be rude, though, and took the hand he
offered; and allowed him to help her to her feet. She hadn't
least her gaze leave his face the entire time, her attention
drawn in by is kind, beautiful eyes. "I'm not too worried about
their manners or generosity. As long as I maintain a firm grasp
upon my beliefs and values, what others do is of no concern to
me. Though," she began to whisper as her eyes traveled toward
the rude guy, "I wish they were a tad more kind."
Despite the red, puffy cheeks and bloodshot eyes, a genuine
smile formed upon her lips when he introduced himself, as well
as knowing her name. "I know who you are Kyler Jacques. I have
heard your music a time or two, and had went to at least one
       lacrosse game. You're exceptional!"
Her smile softened a bit. "I am rather surprised anyone knows my
name though. Most of what I hear in reference to my name is
'rich bitch' and things like that." Kansas gently retrieved her
belongs from Kyler and held them to her chest. She had once
again gotten lost in the beauty of his face.

He chuckled lightly hearing her slight fawning over his playing
in both musical arts and his Lacrosse game. He scratched the
back of his head and shook his head slowly. "My playing is
merely mediocre at best, though I do have to give you thanks for
your compliment." He bowed his head slightly and stood up again
offering a smile as he caught her gaze being held on him. "So if
I may, what have you planned for this evening?" He tilted his
head in question, getting ready to ask another as he slowly
pulled an Iphone from his pocket and clicked the home button,
sliding the bar and turning his music off. Popping out the
second ear bud to give her his full attention before sliding his
       phone back into his pocket.
He cleared his throat with his hand in front of his mouth
lightly as he smiled again. "Perhaps you would want to have a
study session or maybe a good dinner date wouldn't be out of the
question would it?" He blinked and looked into her eyes his
smile still apparent as he slowly looked at his watch and then
back at her. His question still unanswered as he offered his
hand to her politely. "Or maybe you wish to just have some
company on your walk home?" His head tilted slightly as he
turned back around and waved a hand in front of them. His arm
now extended to her as he smiled. "I would be delighted if you'd
have me as your accompaniment home, if that is alright with you
       Miss Kansas?"

Was she hearing right? Was Kyler Jacques asking her out on a
date? If it was a joke, he hid it well; because she couldn't
find a hint of sarcasm on his face. Her gaze darted back and
forth between the two of his as she contemplated her answer,
though it was an easy one to make.
"I don't see why a dinner date would hurt, so yes I will go with
you." Kansas smiled and blushed and pulled out her phone to
check the time. Four thirty. It wasn't too terribly late, and
besides it was Friday and she desperately wanted to go out and
have fun. "Could I get ready at your place? I have a change of
clothes in my car, and my apartment is on the other side of
town." The blush in her cheeks darkened at the question she
       blurted out.
"Oh!" She exclaimed, returning the topic to his music and
athletic prowess. "I believe you are amazing, so please do not
doubt yourself. I only wish I had any sort of talent or skills.
All I can do is write or paint, and not very well mind you." The
night was shaping up to be a good one, far better than sitting
       at home alone.

He merely nodded at her question and smiled. "I wouldn't mind at
all if you used my place." He smiled that bright smile of his
again before chuckling and shaking his head at her again.
"Please, being good at a sport is mere luck and training, the
fact that I happen to have a good voice and a talent for guitar
playing is also just a certain musical knack that my family has.
I just chose to play guitar at a young age and it kinda just
stuck with me for a long while. And my lacrosse game is sloppy
still, I'd be a mediocre player at best, nothing too serious at
all really..." He sighed and scratched the back of his head. His
modesty getting the better of him as he blinked and shook his
       head.
He looked down at her astounded and smiled. "I've always wanted
to be better at painting and the traditional arts, and I've only
ever written a few songs, so I don't know much along the ways of
writing." He chuckled and shrugged. "Though, perhaps I should
just ask someone else to help me with my songs, maybe even do a
duet with me one of these days...?" He questioned aloud to
himself and making sure she heard him. Just before tapping on
his chin lightly and looking around. "Maybe she'd be willing to
have a dinner date and a movie night sometime soon too..." He
sighed and blinked looking straight ahead, his expression
questioning but, still aware of his company as he smiled.
Looking at her and tilting his head. "So where for dinner do you
want to go? Anywhere at all, no matter the price it's my treat."
He smiled, slowly slipping her arm around his and offering to
carry her books with his hand towards her politely.

A titled grin form upon her lips and her brow arched in an
inquisitive challenge, "I hope you don't mean singing a duet
with me, because I cannot sing to save my life." She was lying,
though. Kansas had been in choir in high school, and was praised
for her voice; but she never really felt she had the talent for
it, and never pursued it any further. Besides, writing and
painting were her true passions, and singing would only take
away for that. "So, I hope out have someone else in mind to sing
       with you."
She knew he was talking about a dinner date and a movie night
with her, because otherwise he would be quite rude in her
opinion; and she knew well enough that Kyler Jacques was
anything but rude. That did mean she wouldn't play along. "Well
I'm sure she would love a date and a movie night, if there
happened to be cuddling involved. But," she paused and gently
handed him her books, "I will leave the decision of where we eat
entirely to you. In fact, why don't you surprise me."
A few steps into the parking lot, she turned to him and smiled.
"I'll be right back, I am just going to grab my clothes." Kansas
broke into a quick jog and unlocked her doors mid-trip, with the
mission of taking as little time as possible. She was thankful
she had packed a nice dress and shoes, with taking a trip to an
art museum after class. This was a more splendid way to spend
the night. With bag in tow, she ran back to him with a brilliant
smile and flushed cheeks. "Your car or mine?"

He had been smiling and nodding to her, every word she would
speak he heard it and nodded. His eyes scanning the area before
he sighed and chuckled. "I shall wait for your arrival when you
get back." He nodded and offered another smile as she jogged to
her car. Holding her books in just one hand as he paced back and
forth with a stretch as he covered his mouth with a yawn. Not
tired, but it had been a pretty long day for him. With what was
a four hour morning practice and three classes afterwards, one
starting just twenty minutes when practice let out. He shrugged
it off and shook his head lightly. "I can't get tired now, gotta
cook dinner and such. Not to mention help her study..." He
blinked and looked at her books which he just now realized were
the same as his own classes he had just had all except one book
which he had tomorrow. He shrugged and stretched looking in the
direction she was coming from and waved as she came close.
Hearing her question his head tilted and he chuckled. "Well uh,
that's the thing..." He pointed out past the courtyard at a
fairly expensive looking car, all powder black coat with dark
blue streaks everywhere and window tint to match. He offered his
arm again and slowly started walking.
"My vehicle is usually the first to arrive at campus and one of
the only to leave campus daily. With how things are at the
moment with my record deal being good I uh kinda had enough to
get a decent car and place for really cheap." He scratched the
back of his head and shrugged. "Haven't really had anyone too
special in my life that I'd be willing to provide for either, I
mean it wouldn't be too much but at least I'd be able to buy her
a necklace of value or even just a few small things to show I
care..." He drifted off and cleared his throat with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry I'm being fairly selfish talking about myself... What
about you, is there anyone or anything you'd like to share?" He
questioned aloud just reaching the car and pulling the door
handle, the door soon opening and pushing itself up with a
hydraulic lift. "Sorry if the car is too flashy, the paint shop
said go big or just go home." He chuckled and slid her books to
the back seat next to his bag, helping her inside and then
closing the door politely. Slowly walking to the opposite side
door and opening it closing it as soon as he sat down and he
pulled off his shirt quickly. A stretched white muscle shirt
offering a heavy look at his upper body as he reached behind
them and tossed his shirt into his bag. His eyes locking onto
hers as he blinked. "Should we do movie then dinner or which
       would you prefer?"

A gigge bubbled in her throat as she took her seat in his car.
"Did you not see my car?" She asked as she pointed back towards
it. "It's the silver Audi A8. My parents bought it for me." The
blush returned to her cheeks after divulging that bit of
information, but she hoped he would not mind. "They won't let me
get a job until I graduate, though they don't seem to show any
interest in me or my studies. They are more concerned with their
personal images." She his her face, not wanting to show how much
that upset her. In fact, the only reason she didn't end upas her
parents had was bbecause her grandmother was the one who truly
       raised her.
"But to answer one of your questions, there isn't anyone special
in my life at the moment, but there is certainly room for
someone." Kansas smiled at him and watched him remove his shirt.
She had to bite into her lip rather hard to keep from reaching
over and touching him, because he was extremely handsome and
       sexy. A long moment later, she turned to look out the window,;
because if she kept looking at him, she would touch him.
Dinner or a movie first? The thought turned in her head,
contemplating the possibilities. "And, to answer your other
question, that depends. Are you going to take me out or cook me
dinner? If you are going to cook, we could watch a movie while
we eat. If not, we could wait until afterwards. I want to shower
and change first though, remember?" She turned and smiled at
him, before turning back toward the window. The thought of
creeping him out now scared her into near silence.
