Re: Kingdom of Yoruba Gods

A grin covered the Trickster God's face when Oya rebutted
against him. In an instant, he appeared directly behind the
woman, his lips barely inches from her ear as he whispered. "And
if I -did- want yo all to myself, what then?" He was gone before
the woman could offer him a response. The purpose of his
question would go unknown to her, but it actually put a thought
in his own mind as he arrived alongside his guests once more.
This was something he would have to mull over at a later time
though, as Olorun had decided on the path to take already. "You
know I've never been much of a romantic." He said to Olorun.
Èṣù was the type to play games. But he wasn't the type to
mislead a woman into thinking anything anything different. He
liked to challenge minds, and expand thought processes.
When Enyo expressed her confidence in Èṣù, he turned to
face her, tucking his finger under her chin and looking into her
eyes sweetly, as if he might kiss her. His words didn't support
his expression, however. . "Don't misunderstand." He told her.
"I'm nobodies protector." His way was to teach others to protect
themselves though their experiences. "So are you ready? He
asked, Enyo. Of course, he would be happy to bring Artemis along
on this little adventure as well..

The goddess of change kept close to Olorun and remained true to
her wariness of the guests. It was impossible to feel guilty for
being so mindful of their presence when her own thoughts were
mirrored on the goddesses faces. Neither group of gods knew how
to handle the situation and what worsened it was their titles.
All three females present, would probably rather discuss with
swords than with tongues. The peace corresponding between them
was a miracle in itself but at some point it would be tested.
Oya's eyes flashed to Olorun as the smile along her lips
remained faithfully intact. He had what he wanted from her,
though she wondered if the same could be said about her missing
spouse.
The train of thought concluded when Enyo spoke her regrets for
the earlier verbal altercation. Saying nothing, the woman waited
until the goddess's words died in a pause long enough that would
be proper for Oya to respond.
"We will butt heads again, I think," she spoke thoughtfully and
truthfully. "Maybe then I can test your title and your
swordsmanship, as well you, I."
Even though it may not have seemed she was accepting her apology
and extending one in return, she was; just in Oya's own words.
Flashing the woman a smile before winking at her, she then
turned to watch as the quiet goddess enjoyed her dogs. Now that
would be a challenge. One, Oya was not certain was worth betting
on if something did occur. Within the silence, she detected an
air of wisdom or at least a fair amount of good common sense.
The goddess would surely make a worthy opponent in battle but
Oya hoped to be the one watching if she did ever witness such a
battle, and not the enemy.
A moment later, E u's warm breath filled her ear but did not
outwardly phase her as his words laid an open snare out in front
of her and tempted her forward. Shango would not approve of such
informality, but a little banter never killed anyone.
"A trickster god?" she said in the form of a question. "Must you
trick a woman to get her in bed, as well? Perhaps, you play with
words in attempt to make up for what you lack in bed? Asking me
'what if' is teasing, and curiosity killed the cat but if I
dared to share my bed with you would satisfaction bring the cat
back? Or maybe you are only good with your tongue?"
The questions that had started out rhetorical and playful, ended
with a true question mark within her mind. The goddess wanted to
'win' but not at a cost that would divide her thoughts and mood
even more so.
Oya turned to Olorun and gave his hand a meaningful squeeze.
"Have you seen Shango?" she asked curiously even though she
doubted he had. "Also, what are we going to do? That is, if you
don't mind me sticking with you for a while."
Oya shuddered at the thought of returning to the empty bed that
held no promise of soothing the edge of loneliness.

Breath caught in Enyo's throat when Esu gripped her chin as he
did. The thought of him kissing her was at the forefront of her
mind, but she should have known it would not have come. A nod
was her only response, at the moment at least, as the hope of a
kiss faded. Her eyes fell to the ground and she sighed heavily,
"I cannot fight Ares myself, Esu. I would only last a few short
moments against him."
"Tell him, Artemis." Enyo's eyes shot toward her silent sister,
her face void of color. "Only our father could figure fight Ares
and win." She stated blatantly. Enyo was merely a servent to her
brother, nothing more. If he had his way, she would never lead
his side. Heck, he would probably have his way with her, if
their father allowed. The very thought made Enyo sick to her
stomach.
A spark, the very spark she wished to quiet, flickered at the
goddess Oya's challenge. "Perhaps one day, but that may not
occur. I no longer wish to be a warfare goddess. I wish for
peace, inner and outer peace."
Enyo took Esu's hand once again, a bold look within her eyes.
"Please, let us begin this journey. I am much ready to find this
peace, Esu."

The sound of her name brought Artemis's attention back to the
conversation. Her brows furrowed and mouth opened to speak but
she was quickly cut off by her half-sister. Lips slowly closed
and formed a straight line as her eyes narrowed. It seemed she
wasn't needed and all she wanted to do was get away. It
disgusted her how blatantly obvious her sister's lust for the
foreign god was. He was different, and Artemis didn't like that.
If Enyo were to mate with him and produce offspring, their blood
would be tainted. Every god and goddess of Greece would want the
spawn dead, and would most likely banish Enyo - or torture her
till death. Artemis decided it would be best to distance herself
from this new breed of people. But if Ares were to attack, she
would aid them in that battle. Sure the only god strong enough
to beat Ares in battle single-handedly was Zeus, but if a few
strong individuals banned together they could beat Ares just as
easily.
Artemis called her dogs' attention with a low whistle; Titus and
Zale's playing for rougher and she didn't want them one another.
They all perked up at the call, huddling closer around her feet
with ears pricked and their beady eyes trained on her. "Sit,"
She said simply and they all sat down, situating themselves so
they were still facing her in case she were to give them a
silent signal. With her dogs settled she looked back up to the
small group. Instantly her eyes narrowed but she didn't allow
the disgust she felt enter them, instead a stoic air formed
around her. She was sent on a simple task to being Enyo back to
Olympus. It was easy, and would have been completed now if it
weren't for these ebony gods. Enyo was a woman who only knew a
rough touch of a man; Esu's caressing of her was only getting
him in trouble and Enyo is getting attached quickly.
Artemis could feel it. Anger. Building up inside. Her jaw
clenched in attempts to reign it in. It didn't work. The venom
was snaking its way up her throat, so close to her tongue. Her
hands clenched at her sides as the air around her seemed to
thicken. Though instead of saying anything, Artemis crouched
down, allowing her dogs to wrap her with their warmth. Her hands
automatically went to scratch their heads; one by one, and after
they each thanked her with a lick to her cheek. Slowly but
surely the anger was melting away.

Of all the interactions Èṣù had with Oya in the past,
challenges such as this one had never occured. Their normal
changes of pleasantries certainly weren't as fun, or as
intriguing, as a battle of wits such as this one. "Ah, but at
what point have I attempted any sort of trickery toward you,
Wind Goddess? The fact of the matter is, if curiosity truly
plagues you, there is only one way to settle it. With that, he
winked to the woman and he, Enyo, and Artemis disappeared,
reappearing back at Èṣù's own domain.
(The journey will last a total of four days, but for the sake of
time, I'm going to condense it into a few posts. so if there's
anything terribly important you want to do with the next few
days, I suggest going ahead and doing it.)
"It's time to begin your journey." He said, as he looked
closely at Enyo. He then turned toward Artemis. "You don't seem
to have gotten your anger under control yet. Obviously you're
under no obligation to come along, but if you wish to, you're
more than welcome." He left the choice to her, but he spent no
time waiting. If she chose to come along, she would disappear
once more into a black void with the two of them. If not, she
would be left to her own devices.
All those who traveled to this new place would see nothing but
darkness. This was the starting place. "There will be no rest
from this point." Èṣù told all within his company. Our
first stop is your past." For two days, they would explore past
exploits of everything Enyo and Artemis had done in the name of
Ares. But they wouldn't see it from their own point of view.
Only those who suffered for it. Warriors who lay for days on the
battleground, unable to move, and with no one to help them,
before finally perishing. Women and children who would never see
their husbands or fathers again, and unable to manage, were
thrown to the streets. War orphans forced to fend for themselves
in the absence of their parents. Beautiful lands, and forests,
burned to the ground in the name of war. This was the reality of
following a path of warfare. Èṣù did very little speaking
over this path. He allowed the images to speak for themselves.

Initially, the darkness did not frighten her. No, she had seen
far worse than any terror darkness could bring. When the images
came, though, true fear gripped her heart. The pain she felt
from those her suffered her wrath plagued her heart, and Enyo
began to weep. This, all of the pain and heartache she caused at
the orxers of Ares, was far too much to bear. The desire to turn
back time, to undo what had been done was her wish. Yet, Enyo
knew that was impossible. Even Zeus could not turn back the
clock, and he was father and king to all the Olympians, well
most of them.
"Please stop, Esu," she cried out to the dark-skinned god, "I
cannot bear witness to this any longer." He wouldn't stop, that
much she knew. He had only begun to scratch the surface of that
which made Enyo a goddess of warfare. She watched through the
eyes of a warrior as her blade cleaved through his arm, where
she left him to die. He didn't die, though, but could no longer
function properly in society. He lost his source of income, his
wife and children, and cursed the gods for the remainder of his
days.
Enyo had caused that, merely with the instinct to fight. She had
destroyed homes and villages with relative ease, not caring for
the innocence that lost their lives, only that they dishonored
the gods. This was who she had been for so long, blinded by
adoration of her elder brother.
She fell to her knees then, as her heart plummeted and
shattered. "Forgive me, please." Her words were but a whisper
and fell upon the deaf ears of the long-since dead. But a new
feeling arose within the cavity that had beenleft in her heart,
hatred. Hatred toward herself for being so blind, and hatred for
her brother for initiating such abominable actions. "I will see
to it that you fall, Ares, and spend the rest of eternity in the
abyss." Her brother would hear her words, that Enyo was certain
of.

There bickering continue to entertain the ebony god , from his
view some true feelings where being sneak in there conversation.
Esu did have a advantage cause of his background but Oya could
hold her own against the god's word play .The goddess continue
to stay by his side , her emotions may change but her warmth
didn't . The goddess of change did bring up a good question that
was dwelling though his mind all day ,Where was Shango? He
haven't seen him all day and it started to worry the farther a
little," where ever he is I'm sure he is safe " That was the
best answer he could give the Goddess at the time being
Enyo said she was ready, Olorun bow his head toward his son
giving him permission to be dismiss if choose to "Wait" He said
in a whisper before they departed . "I would like for Artemis to
stay if she wants , I would like to have some words with if you
don't mind Goddess ?" The choice was up to her but the offer was
made.
Oya clearly didn't want to be alone, maybe his company wasn't
bothering her as he thought as he listen to her question." We
should go hunter "Olorun was planning to go anyway today , it
was rare when the god left his domain to enter the human world
but when the opportunity came he took it. "Your welcome to come
but try to keep up the best you can "The challenge was thrown
towards her direction, what she would do with it was completely
up to her.
The shirtless god started to prepare himself by stretching ,his
muscle flex with each repetition and exercise he did until he
produce sweat . The sweat pace itself down the god's ebony chest
to his abs . After his warm up was complete he ask the goddesses
was they ready .

It did not surprise her that Olorun had not seen her husband but
still she had hoped. Oya nodded at Enyo without further comment,
knowing that the goddess had much on her mind. As for E u, all
she did was smile at him, allowing him to have the last word but
the war was hardly over. It bothered her some to see Enyo and
him touch and speak so casually and freely. Although, she had to
admit, the two would make an interesting pair. Two
god-bloodlines in one child would certainly be something to see.
Still, he needed to be careful for now until matters were sorted
and peace could be arranged. Oya remained silent about her
concern. He was grown and needed little help from her.
"I would like to join you," she said, accepting Olorun's offer.
It would do her well to have a distraction. Waiting for Olorun
to warm up and to take the lead, the goddess folded her arms
over her chest and watched the god while ignoring E u and Enyo
as they left. Oya thought back to the exchange of words between
E u and her. Curiosity was not a sin, but what it could lead it
could very well be.
She sighed wondering if Shango would return soon.

Èṣù did not give in to Enyo's pleas, in fact, he barely
responded to them. He was in full Tour guide mode, and it seemed
most of his personality had faded, only to be replaced by the
persona of a God who did his job well. "You can not escape from
your own reality." He said simply, as they made it to the top of
a hill overlooking a cemetary. The graveyard was full of the
bodies of soldiors who had fallen in battle. A young girl, about
four years of age stood at one of the gravesites, with a single
flower in her hand. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she placed
the flower on the grave of her fallen father.
Enyo's reaction had been as Èṣù had planned and expected.
Until he felt the rage and hatred fill her heart. Her words
toward her brother were the first major obstacle that needed to
be surpassed. "Your rage is what makes you a Goddess of Warfare.
At least in theory. Those feelings will lead you down a path of
being just like your brother." He couldn't tell her the path to
follow, he could only point her down a path. "We're not finished
yet." In fact they weren't even halfway through....

Artemis was just about to join Esu and Enyo when Olorun called
them to a halt. She stopped mid-step and glanced over at him.
What caught her by surprise was the man's request for her to
stay back with him. At first, Artemis was hesitant. Her dogs
stood by her side, heads perked to the side as if they too were
waiting for an answer. She took a moment to think of how staying
back would benefit her; she wouldn't have to witness her
sister's lusting after Esu. Her eyes rolled at that thought and
she nodded her head in response to Olorun's offer. "Okay.." She
mumbled quietly, taking the few steps needed to be in front of
him, dogs following close behind her.
"What is it you wish to speak about?" A brow rose in question,
but her gaze was settled elsewhere, watching silently as Esu and
her sister vanished to start their journey. Her question was
soon answered when Olorun offered the ebony goddess if she
wanted to hunt with them. Is that what he wanted? Ask her to
accompany him hunting? "It would be my pleasure hunting
alongside you, Olorun," She said with a wide smile, a twinkle
entering her eyes. The dogs at her feet began to beat their
tails with an excitement equivalent to Artemis's.
She watched on with a hint of amusement as Olorun began to
stretch. It was as if he were preparing himself for a great
battle! She didn't question him, and forced herself to turn away
when she noticed the sweat trickling down his thick torso. To
keep her occupied she reached around her and pulled her bow
free, smiling at the spark sent through her hands upon contact
with the enchanted golden metal. In her quiver she had many
arrows, but she knew she wouldn't need them all. She was a good
shot; very accurate and precise. After a few more moments she
turned her gaze back to Olorun, waiting for his signal for them
to start.
