       Kingdom of Yoruba Gods
By: Raijuta Date: October 27, 2013, 10:48 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This post shall represent the entire Kingdom under the rule of
the Yoruba Gods, located above Northwestern Africa, these Gods
reign over all the surrounding land, air, and sea, though, to
their knowledge, they are the only deities in existence.

Northwestern Africa, these lands were new to Enyo and were much
different than the Greek isles. There men constantly fought for
land, power, and riches; which had given her plenty of time in
battle. And though she loved a thrilling fight, she felt as
though she needed a break; that, and the Greeks had finally
chose to make a temporary peace. Ares was infuriated by the
actions, and Enyo knew he could be quite destructive when he was
upset. On what such occasion, Ares had beaten Enyo until she
lost consciousness. She was bloodied and suffered a broken arm
       and several broken ribs.
Enyo fled Olympia before she could suffer a similar fate, but
how she had ended up in such strange lands was far beyond her.
Without her shield and armor, only a sword on her hip, she felt
liberated and free; yet, she still craved battle despite wishing
to be free of it for a time. The confliction within her would
possibly drive her mad, more so because she could hear a growing
       conflict in the distance.
"What am I to do?" She asked herself and pulled her short sword
from its sheath. The golden weapon gleamed in the sunlight, a
gift from her father Zeus. It accented the gold of her eyes and
the slight golden aura that surrounded her. With a huff of
frustration, she threw the blade into the ground and cursed.
"Why must you be as you are, Ares!"

Oshun lay on a rock, the sun beating down on her ebony skin,
drying up the water that soaked her skin. Her fingers danced
along the surface of the river, causing ripples to disrupt the
image of her face reflecting on the water. She was a safe
distance in her own land, basking in the peace of the day. Oshun
normally spent a great deal of her time in her water, swimming
around in search of new, shiny things. However today was
different – there was something different. In their kingdom. She
could feel the disturbance, but didn’t let her mind dwell on it,
rather she focused on her reflecting in the calm water. A hand
caressed her cheek, tracing the strong line down to her neck,
collar bone, down to the flesh in the valley between her
breasts. The days have been peaceful thus far, she hoped nothing
       would disturb the peace.

What a long day it had been... A recent earthquake had wiped out
many people, and Eshu had been guiding the dead down the
crossroads ever since. He had finally delivered the last soul to
the Underworld, and was prepared to go home for some rest.
However, something was off. As the guide of all roads, he could
always tell when there was someone who didn't belong, and there
was someone traveling a road that they DEFINITELY didn't belong
on. With a sigh, the trickster God disappeared into a puff of
black smoke, and appeared before the outsider. When he arrived,
a mixture of confusion and amazement played on his face. He
wasn't sure what to think of this creature. It definitely wasn't
human. In fact, her build was more similar to his own than to
any humans. But he knew for a fact that there was no God that
looked like her. At any rate, the first matter was to address
the stranger. "Hello, wanderer. I am Èṣù, God of
Crossroads, and guide to all who are lost. You are clearly not
of these lands. What has brought you here?" His eyes settled on
the pale skinned creature. "And dare I ask, where do you come
from? Your structure is similar to that of a God..."

This land, as strange as it was, was beautiful, though not as
beautiful as the Grecian islands. A smile played upon Enyo's
lips as her golden gaze surveyed the area, until the black smoke
and dark-skinned figured appeared befor her. Her hand
instinctively shot towars her blade, which she leveled towards
the strange being. Very few had ever gotten a jump on her, Ares
and Zeus being the only two, but this creature had managed to do
so. Warily she watched him but did not lower her blade, even as
       he asked his questions.
"A god?" Enyo retorted with great skepticism. She had been lead
to believe that the Olympians were the only gods in the entirety
of the universe. "You cannot be a god. My father has said the we
Olympians are the only gods in existence." Yet, she could feel
it, this beings godly aura and immortality. It only posed that
he was indeed as he said, and that her father had been wrong.
With that in mind, she lowered her blade and decided to answer
is qiestions. "I am from lands northeast of here, across a vast
sea, and I have come here seeking refuge from my brother. And my
structure is similar to that of a god because I am indeed a god.
I am Enyo, a goddess of warfare and death." A whimsical smile
lifted her lips as he watched the creature and extended her
hand. "Allow me to show you my world."

The sunlight beat down the back of her neck as Oya watched the
ocean lap at the shore. Twice in the last fortnight, she had
aroused the sea's ferocity to create hurricanes that destroyed a
few small neighboring villages that had shortened their
offerings to her and also had a break outbreak of an illness
that would soon spread elsewhere if not contained. The beads
along her head piece and other jewelry, hit against each other,
spilling a soft noise within her ears. Another sound, one
softened by distance, aroused her curiosity and stirred her
annoyance. All gods who shared her likeness were welcomed on her
turf, but today Oya did not wish for company. It was one of the
many days she spent alone while her husband busied himself with
his work and other two wives. The wind tugged from all
directions and complimented her skin with its cool embrace that
took the edge off of the bright sun, as the goddess meandered
out to where two immortals stood in conversation. The one she
did not recognized could not be a mortal due to the energy that
she could sense and it rubbed Oya the wrong way.
When the female dared to extend her weapon, Oya suddenly
appeared next to the god with a bolt of lightning striking the
ground at her feet. Her gaze became impregnated with clouds of
       intensity that sparked in annoyance.
Once she had lowered her sword and spoke, Oya continued to
scrutinize her with eyes blazing with beautiful flames that
emphasized her goddess nature that coursed through her veins.
The wind suddenly stopped, creating silence where rustling of
leaves and ocean waves beating against each other had once been.
The woman had claimed to be a goddess but Oya doubted the truth
behind her words. For one, she never trusted a stranger with a
weapon. Secondly, she had never heard of her or seen her.
"You are in search of safety with the tip of a sword at a god's
throat?" Oya accused with a voice as soft as a breeze. "I know
not of any sane mortal or immortal that would feed a dog by the
hand when it bares its teeth. Unless, they want to be bitten."
Oya raised an eyebrow, causing her smooth forehead to be
       disrupted by tiny indentations.
"Neither, do I know of a goddess who questions an immortal who
does not wish to be beaten," she stated, her eyes darkening with
each word while her voice remained unscathed. "Tell me, Enyo,
are you a lying fool or are you a dog?"
What name had she given? Olympian? It was a strange name. Oya
looked at the fellow god at her side, Esu, and searched his
expression for answers. Did he know of what she spoke or did he
believe she was a trespassing liar?

A grin played on Èṣù's face when the sword was pointed at
him. He showed no signs of surprise or fear; Only amusement. but
in truth, he was developing an opinion. This woman, or Goddess,
or whatever she was, seemed to be the warmonging type. That type
was always self destructive in the end, and Èṣù had
already decided how to handle it. Around the same moment, Oya
appeared at his side. Èṣù and Oya had an odd relationship,
because she shared a husband with Èṣù's mother. However,
she had always been respectful and supportive of him. Also,
being a gatekeeper of the underworld, he saw her frequently in
his work. So despite the obvious rivalry that the two held, and
despite the fact that he knew he probably shouldn't, he liked
       her.
Oya's patience was short, and disrespect was something she
didn't tolerate. She immediately gave the newcomer a
tongue-lashing that was sure to not be soon forgotten. And while
the God of Crossroads appreciated it, he felt his methods would
be more suitable for this situation. After all, his specialty
was leading people, be it physically, or mentally. He held his
hand up toward Oya, motioning for her to allow him a moment, and
       spoke up in her place.
"Olympian, you say?" He had never heard of such a thing. "So you
say there are others like you?" He decided it best not to say
"Like us" until he had a better grasp of the situation at hand.
When the woman extended her hand to him, in offering to "show
her world, his glance slid to his mother's rival, as if awaiting
the ok. He then took the woman's hand. He was unsure if she was
offering to show him a vision, or to physically transport him to
her land, but he had a trick of his own up his sleeve as well.
She had confirmed his original opinion of her when she named
herself as the "Goddess of Warfare and Death." Violent acts
could not be tolerated, so he weaved a small, untraceable spell
on the woman the moment their hands made contact. It's effects
were simple; If she physically harmed anyone while on Africa's
soil, her body would suffer the same injury. Èṣù was
famous for his trickery. He used his tricks to teach people to
walk a better path, but he did enjoy seeing them struggle. It
took only a second, and by this point, he was ready to see what
       Enyo had to show him.

The moment the creature, Esu, laid the spell upon her, Enyo's
grip on his hand tightened. She felt the pain in her own hand
but she did not release. "Such an unfair trick, God of
Crossroads, but we will address that in a moment."The goddess'
words faded into the distance, as did the threatening gestures
of the other being, a female. Images of the Olympian palace, and
the gods that resided there swept through her mind and into the
man's. 'This is my home, and those are my fellow Olympians. We
are gods, respected and feared by those who reside in our
dominion. My brother and I, and to a lesser extent our sister,
are worshipped by warriors. Only by brother, Ares, is a better
warrior than I.' The images faded as quickly as they came,
       returning them to the present.
Upon return, and releasing of the man's hand, Enyo lifted the
point of her blade to her wrist. Blood, copperish with a golden
sheen, flowed from the wound she carved into her forearm. It
vanished as quickly as it had been made, and a devilish grin
licked at Enyo's lips. "Now, about this spell you placed upon
me, Esu. Why would you prevent one from acting upon their
nature. You think I wish to be as I am? I was born, and this is
what I am. I do not openly cause war, merely choose a side and
fight. That and I guide the fallen warriors, those I cannot
save." Her cheeks reddened a bit as an afterthought.
Enyo's gaze finally fell upon the woman. "Your acts of lightning
and fire do not frighten me. I have fought Titans far more
fearsome than you, and see many battles. You will have to do
much more to frighten me." In fact, the only being who still
frightened her was her father, Zeus. "However, I have been led
to these lands for a purpose. If not, I would not have come
here. Whether it be war, or some other reasoning, I will remain
until that purpose is completed. We can either remain here all
day believing one another are liars, or we can accept that which
is before us and go about our day; all except for you, Esu. You
will stay with me for now, until you remove that damned spell of
yours, that or you imprison me." With a wave of her hand, Enyo's
blade vanished, leaving her merely her long, white and golden,
       and flowing robes.

The goddess fell silent at the suggestive gesture of Esu but the
wind did not return back into it's normal state until they
reappeared. It was true, Oya's patience was as long as the Nile
until provoked but she had enough wisdom and grace to channel it
without using force to get her point across. Though outlandish,
the woman's claim was proven true which brought new questions to
light. Questions, that could not be answered by quarrelsome
behaviors or distraught minds conceived by mutual disliking and
hurt feelings. The trickery god did well to control the
situation and handled it with much more dignity than Oya herself
would have considering the child of a goddess had dared display
such blatant disrespect on her land and towards one she favored.
Enyo was lucky her blade had directed itself to him instead of
       Oya.
"Fear?" Oya's patience was well worn and the only reason she
remained so poised was due to her tremendous self-control.
However, a god by nature, she was a vengeful woman who forgot
nothing. "I do not need to toy with your emotions, dog, to
achieve the desired outcome. Test me, goddess, and you won't
ever have to be worried about fearing anything again."
Oya sighed, finding herself worn after the day's events.
Loneliness awaited her back at her bed but nothing seemed more
       appealing.
"Esu," she whispered, finding her voice weakened by her wavering
mood. "I am exhausted. If you need me I'll be in my bed-" alone,
       she added mentally.
The presence of the god had all but suffocated the longing Oya
found herself at ends with. He reminded her of the lack of her
husband's visiting which made her bad mood that much more
concrete. E u was handsome, like most gods, but he acted
different than them. There was an aura around him that made her
curious. Still, the attraction was deadly and never would she
bring it to light in fear of what her husband would do. Not that
he had any right to blame her wandering eyes when he shared
       three beds.
"Enyo," Oya called, her voice regaining its previous demeanor.
       "Good luck."
Though her words spoke of encouragement, the tone held no
persuasion to show it being meaningful or in which light she was
directing it. Vanishing, the woman left behind a chilling breeze
that had been aroused by her current state of mind.
Once in her large bedroom that bore splendor and shamed the
beauty of diamonds, the goddess sat on her bed and simply stared
at the marble pillars on either side of her bedroom door. Lacy
curtains hung around her bed and drooped to the floor where they
lay in bundles. Pulling on the strings that tied the curtains
back, the woman watched as they cascaded in front of her,
distorting her vision with their frilly designs. At last, Oya
fell back onto the red silk covers and stared at the ceiling,
       finding sleep impossible.

Perhaps, someone would drop in to visit though she hardly was in
the mood for company. What the goddess yearned for was her hair
tightly gripped in her husband's hand while they destroyed the
bed's tidiness. Oya knew of gods and goddesses who sought
escorts to soothe lonely midnight hours but being unfaithful
never appealed to her. E u's face flashed in her mind but she
closed her eyes and willed it away.
"Guilty pleasures and hidden desires are the quickest ways to
destruction outside of anger," she murmured without finding
       comfort in the wisdom.

By: Eshu Date: October 30, 2013, 12:59 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"What you see as unfair, I see as necessary." Èṣù spoke
calmly, but the grin remained on his face. The image that Enyo
showed the two was impressive. Mt. Olympus was quite different
from the Kingdom in which the Yoruba resided. In fact, they
didn't even live together! They were all pale skinned, like
Enyo. But there was a major difference. Mt. Olympus was
relatively peaceful, while those who lived below them were
plagued by war and disease. It seemed that they had yet to
attain the balance that was necessary to truly rule...
When they returned, Enyo inquired once more about the spell he
had placed on her. "You should know well that your nature isn't
my concern. The purpose of a God is to protect and ensure the
progression of the land he rules. There will be no fighting
here, so there will be no need for you to choose a side to fight
on." For a being of eternal life and power, she seemed to be
full of excuses, about how she couldn't control who or what she
was. She had a degree of control that most beings could never
imagine. It seemed some teachings were in order here. If
Èṣù could teach her more about life, and send her home
with that knowledge, the Olympians could find themselves much
       more prosperous.
It was clear that Oya was not going to be able to tolerate this
woman for long, it was probably best that she leave. Èṣù
offered her a smile and a nod before she left. "I'll try not to
bother you." He said as his farewell greeting. Despite his
reputation for being observant and clever, Èṣù was
oblivious to Oya's attraction to him. He had little time for
thoughts about such things as romance, so naturally it wasn't
something he looked for. So despite his acknowledging that Oya
was a very beautiful woman, and despite his dislike of
Ṣàngó, he had never considered any sort of pursuit of the
       woman.
The Trickster God found it amusing that Enyo felt she held some
sort of authority in their location. They were clearly outside
of her jurisdiction. However, it didn't matter. "It isn't a
spell that can be undone." He explained to the woman. When you
leave this land, it's effects on you will dissipate. However,
should you return, they will automatically be reinstated." There
was a catch that Èṣù didn't bother to mention, however.
Were she to harm someone in self defense, she would not suffer
the same pain. "I can't remove the spell, even if I do remain by
your side. But as I am the guide of roads, I will accompany you
anyway. Now tell me, what is this purpose for which you have
       come?"
