It was late, that she knew, but her mind wouldn't allw her to
rest until she spoke with Jasper. Regret was not the emotion she
was feeling, because the events that unfolded in her room had so
right. Yet, Kegan was scared that it wouldn't happen again, and
she did not want to be just a one night stand. No, if anything,
he could have stayed with her and left when she awakened the
next morning. The door leading to the man's room was the only
barrier separating them, but she knocked tentatively in hopes of
removing that barrier. "Jasper, are you awake?"

Jasper had just fallen asleep when he was stirred by the knock
at the door. "It's open..." He halfway grunted, sleep still
almost entirely his keeper. The voice belonged to Kegan. How did
she know where his room was? How was she even awake? There was
no way she could just negate the effects of that medicine... He
didn't sit up when the woman came through the door. In fact, he
barely moved. "What's up?" He asked, sure that Whatever was to
come was nothing pleasant. He patted the spot next to him,
inviting the woman to sit down as he released a heavy yawn. The
days events had really taken it out of him, and he had little
       energy left.

The walk towards Jasper's bed took forever, at least that is how
it felt to her. Kegan was consciously aware of every move she
made, out of fear that she would upset him. When she finally
made it to the end of his bed, she sat down and buried her face
in her hands. Tears were ready to fall, but Kegan was trying her
hardest not to cry in front of him. "Jasper, why didn't you
stay?" That was the only question she had for him, the only
question she needed answered. Why did he leave her alone when
she needed him to reassure her?

Kegan's entry seemed to flood the room with a blinding light.
Even after the door closed behind her, it seemed to dance around
the room, burning it's way into Jasper's eyes, which now
displayed a solid black. In response, he covered his eyes with a
pillow, in attempts to block out the intrusive illumination. A
short sigh escaped the man's lips upon hearing her question. He
didn't want to hurt the girl's feelings, but this was getting
out of hand already. "I left a note on your door saying that we
would talk tomorrow..." He said calmly, the irritation held back
from his voice. There was a long pause before he spoke again.
"The fact of the matter is that we don't know each other. It
wouldn't have been a good idea for me to stay and comfort you.
The only thing that would come of that is you growing an
emotional attachment to a man you know nothing about. What if I
turn out to be the worst possible match for you?" His voice
started to trail as sleep began to take him once more. He didn't
have long left before he would be unable to hear the woman's
       words.

"I don't care if you are the worse possible match for me or not,
I simply want to discover what you may be to me." Kegan's voice
faltered, her hands shaking with fear. "What happened in my
room? Was it just a physical connection, or was it something
more?" She turned and looked at him then, staring at his
gorgeous face and delicious lips. Before she could stop herself,
the sheet she wore around her fell away and she climbed up the
bed towards him. Her lips found his, even though he was nearly
asleep. "Hold me, please. I'm afraid I'm going to fall apart."

This time, Jasper's sigh was more pronounced. He exhaled deeply
through his nose as the woman spoke. "You really -are- new at
this, aren't you?" Her inability to understand the situation was
cute in it's own way, but now it was interfering with his sleep,
which made it hard to see the woman as more than a hindrance.
But in light of that, he attempted to explain it to her anyway.
"You don't find out anything about someone by laying in bed with
them. You can only find out what someone can be to you by
spending time together. It doesn't matter if you sleep in the
same bed, or on different countries, you find out about a person
through their words and actions." He waited for a response, but
was instead answered with a kiss. When the woman joined him on
the bed, his eyes opened for the first time since her arrival.
"What about the man you confused me for when I first went into
the gameroom?" He asked. Based on what everyone had to say, he
was sure it was Sachiel. "Have you just forgotten about him?"

A pause came when Sachiel was mentioned, but Kegan didn't
hesitate long. "No, I have not forgotten about Sachiel, but the
fact remains that you are the one I slept with." She watched him
then, carefully. Perhaps there was more to Jasper than what she
originally thought. However, she had to at least discover what
might lie beneath the surface for the two of them. "I may be new
at this, and I am aware of how to get to knowssomeone; but
cuddling is a way to get to know someone, right?"

Kegan's hesitation, however short, provided Renegade with more
information than she realized. Her feelings were scattered and
confused. She was probably seeking to straighten them out by
finding someone to latch onto; someone she could focus on. "But
you slept with me knowing full-well that I wasn't him. So I'll
ask you again: Did you forget about him? Or did you just settle
for me because Angele beat you to him?" His irritation had begun
       to show in his voice.
By the time Kegan asked her question, all of this had gotten
old. Jasper could barely stay awake, and they were still
discussing things that could easily wait until the next day.
"No." He told her. "Cuddling isn't a way to get to know someone.
Cuddling is a way to stay warm at night. It's a way to give
someone a false sense of security. When you wake up in the
morning, you won't know anything about the person that you
didn't know before you went to sleep. Now good night, Kegan. We
can talk tomorrow." With that, the man rolled over and went to
sleep. His energy for the night had exhausted.

"Yes!" Kegan screamed, "I did forget about him. The moment you
kissed me in my room, I forgot all about Sachiel. In that moment
it was just you and me. I don't care if Lyn beat me to him, that
is all irrelevant. I had sex with you, not him." Her temper was
getting the best of her now. The edges of her vision blurred,
and all she was thinking was beating Jasper with a pillow. As
sexy as he was, he was being even more infuriating. "Was I just
an easy lay for you, Jasper!? Was I just some stupid 'hot chick'
for you to tell your 'bro's' about?"
She turned and sat on the edge of the bed, huffing. "I've never
really know true emotions. My father never showed me love unless
I was making money for him, and my mom just didn't care. They
only ever cared about my sister, Kensley. If you think I'm sexy,
Kensley is a French goddess. She is the sweetest sister ever,
but she isn't an actress. She's going to be a biologist,
specializing in marine mammals." Kegan sighed and looked at
Jasper, a frown upon her face."I feel like there is more to you
than I know, but please don't let me believe that I was just an
easy score for you. And, I am sorry for yelling at you."
