A Silent Downfall
DIR By: Dannie
Date: August 8, 2013, 8:40 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Dannie's eyes lifted to the sky. Grey clouds puffed up with rain
sparkled above her. It was close to night, but you could never
tell. The sky was too close to the city skyline, and everything
was so dark, everything blended together. She was surprised that
she could even get sleep here. The rain pounded against her
window so hard these past couple of weeks. Pressing her hands
deeper into her jacket pockets, she pushed herself to walk
farther down the sidewalk. She had a goal, and she needed to
cross it off her list by the end of her night. She needed to get
packing. She needed to keep going, but this was never going to
last. She couldn't keep moving on like this. Her body was worn,
and she wanted to lay down in a comfy bed, but something was
always tugging at her conscience, something always keeping her
lids from closing and dreams entering her mind. Dannie felt the
memories practically sweep over her skin before she could see
them behind her lids every time she blinked.
There he was.
There she was.
Both of them. Friends that meant the world to her, all gone. All
because of her. They were going to find her. It was only a
matter of time before she was going to be found out and taken
out herself. A deep breath in, and a soft breath out. Her eyes
kept flickering to every shadow that passed her. She had to keep
an out for them. Any of them. Silver eyes, glowing scars on
their shoulders. Dannie paid attention to these details. She had
to in order to keep herself alive. A sound... Drip. She turned
her head to the side. Drop. Turned her head the other way. Were
they nearby? She thought quietly to herself. Her body felt
rigid. It was as if she couldn't move. Cold air surrounded her,
and she was lucky enough to still feel the ground below her
feet. Everything else felt numb, as if she was not even there.
She could only feel the heaviness on her feet...She no longer
felt the light and jump in her step...Step forward. The voice
whispered.
But she couldn't.
Turning her head to the side, slowly, as if it wasn't her
controlling her movements, she could see the eyes. Blink. She
ordered herself to. After a few moments, she blinked and
everything disappeared. She was finally herself again, and she
was standing there in the middle of the sidewalk again, in the
middle of New York, around evening. He booted heels clicked as
she moved a little faster down the sidewalk. She needed to get
away from the open. Anywhere out of the open. She had stood
there too long. Slinging the bag of her things over her
shoulder, she ducked inside an alley and snaked inside of the
building, seeing nothing but darkness.
Where was she?

Donovan was always dressed so strangely, as if he never belonged
to the era he was walking in. Clad in a dark kimodo, Bamboo
guards on his arms and his legs hidden beneath the flowing black
garments he wore, just loose enough to allow a full range of
movement from the interesting fellow. a straw hat, long and
round, placed on his head protected his face from the downpour
that had started around him. Maybe they were here already... Don
walked along his rooftop perch, following one girl in particular
down the street as he moved from roof to roof to keep up with
her brisk pace. He had been watching, waiting. This girl had
something, seen something that she shouldn't have. He could see
the mark on her. Every one of them wanted her dead, but she
couldn't die, not until he knew what he needed to know.
When the woman paused in the middle of her pace, he knew. And as
the glowing eyes gazed upon her, Donovan would only rush
forward, dropping down the very alley she was staring at, his
Wakizashi drawn as he fell upon the would be assassin. The walls
slowed his fall as he spread himself, placing a bamboo slipper
on each as he fell, releasing himself some feet above the beast
as the girl would be blinking. Just in time, he thought as he
caught the thing off guard and brought it to the ground in one
fell swoop and just as quick as a blink, he was gone from the
darkness, and so was the thing.
His return to his pursuit was cut short once again by the woman
rushing now, Dashing out of his sight for a second before
vanishing completely, just as he caught up with her once again,
inside of a dark building. "Stupid girl..." Don leaped for the
fire escape, managing to grab the side of one just in time
before his fall. Pulling himself onto the metal, He darted
inside the open window in front of him, Donovan prayed he wasn't
too late as he made his way towards the first floor where the
woman had vanished into.

Dannie could feel looks on her, and could feel a glare toward
her way. She had to move. She had to get out of there. She knew
that they were going to get her. Her friends were gone because
of her and now she was left alone, with no one to talk to. She
couldn't talk to anyone. That would risk her getting close to
them and then in the process they would be killed for
information. She didn't understand why this was happening. She
just knew that she needed to run, that she needed to move. Her
eyes flickered to the side as she was seeing them. She was
seeing the eyes. The eyes haunted behind her every move. She
could only push herself forward to hide from the images that
haunted her mind. Click...click...click She had to blink and
shake her head and come to a stop in the darkness to realize
that she was the one who was causing the clicking sounds. It was
her feet. She was so paranoid. Pressing her lips together, she
moved forward into the darkness away from the open, but now she
felt herself even more vulnerable.
She was in the dark...
Dannie lifted her eyes to a shadow that moved. There was a
slight light before there was nothing at all. She gulped as she
felt around, letting her eyes adjust, trying to move around the
images that were plastered on her eyes. All she could see were
the silver diamond of eyes in front of her. Blinking at her,
staring at her, watching her. She bit her lip a little harder,
causing the coppery taste of blood to sink into her mouth. She
couldn't think about that. She couldn't think about the pain
from her lip or the taste of blood on her tongue. She had to
keep moving. Finally finding a wall, she hoped there was a light
switch around here somewhere and that there was electricity
leading to this place, and soon, she found a switch and flipped
the lights on to see that she was in the middle of a studio.
Cameras everywhere, all pointed toward her. They weren't on of
course, but it was still intimidating. She pulled her bag closer
to her front and walked off the small stage.
Stop.
The voice had spoken again. She couldn't stop. She had to keep
going.
Stop, Dannie.
No! She said to the emptiness in the room. There was nothing but
silence. The voice wasn't speaking back to her. She was alone.
She was alone and paranoid. This was not a good mix.
Then she saw a shadow. Removing the gun that she always carried
with her now, she lifted it up toward the shadow. Stop! She was
shaking so badly, she was sure that she wasn't going to be able
to speak. Please, for the love of God, fucking stop! She said
practically in a whisper. She was shaken, and she wasn't sure if
she could stand much longer, if she kept going.
Dannie...stop.
Ugh!! She shook her head and blinked again, shrugged the gun
into her bag and ran. Ran like hell for the door. It was too
tight of space...but she wasn't fast enough.
