A little Light in the Dark...
By: Deadelus DeAngelo Date: July 2, 2013, 2:30 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
His head was tilted down, his hands outstretched and brushing
off a shirt. His fingers lightly crossing the fabric this way
and that. Brushing off any dirt, dust, or grime they could find.
It wasn't a dirty shirt to begin with, it was just not the right
one. He sighed and tossed the shirt aside, reaching his hand
into the drawer and pulling another out. His sigh coming out
content and happier this time. His eyes scanning the room before
he slide one arm into the sleeve and then the other. The light
somewhat soft and scratchy feeling of his shirt brushing against
a bare chest and back. His torso now covered as his finger
buttoned the shirt up and he looked around the room. Picking up
his shirt and discarding it in the hamper next to the door as he
left. His tattoos not standing out one bit under the long
sleeved flannel he had just slipped on. His feet dragging
slightly as he walked around the large apartment. His yawns and
stretches coming out as well. The long black somewhat skinny but
still pretty roomy jeans adorning his legs as he rolled his
shoulders slowly. Lifting a case for an instrument into his
hands and lifting the strap over his shoulder and setting it
down just fine. It was hanging as it always was, but it was
still pretty snug against his torso. He wasn't so much muscular
looking as he was just tall and skinny. His legs seemed longer
than normal but he was barely even 6 foot tall. His arms long
and quite slender when not shown but there was still muscle
there. He stood up straight again and looked around. Finally
sighing and shaking his head. Sliding a rather large keychain
from the counter and sliding it inside his back right pocket
where it fit tightly and was slung out just a few inches. On the
end hanging was a small silver guitar pick ornament that shined
anytime the light hit it. He bowed his head slightly and took a
hand through his hair before scratching his face and kicking a
pair of shoes onto his feet, they were flat-footed skater type
shoes, the only kind he actually wore nowadays. He yawned once
more before stepping on the edge of a skateboard and kicking it
up. Catching the board in one hand and opening the door with the
other. Locking the door before finally walking out and closing
it with a light "clunk" behind him. He stood up and stretched
his back out. Hearing a few pops he let out a breath and stood
straight once more. Carrying his board in his right hand by the
front trucks and walking down the long stairwell that went from
every floor in the hotel. It wasn't so much a fancy place, but
it had all the aesthetic looks of one. It had staff that were
the nicest anyone had ever met, and was definitely a wonderful
place to stay. Rent was cheap and affordable, and was way under
priced for what you got here. He was glad to find the only
apartment with three bedrooms, though he only used one for
sleeping. The other as a guest room, and the last room as a
Recording studio.
He was at the main lobby before he had a second glance and
rubbing his eyes slightly he waved to every person in there.
Kids, Adults, workers, and even busboys alike. He was smiling
the whole way through and even nodded and thanked the man
outside the door like he normally would. Finally walking out to
the Sun shining and the busy streets as he sighed and shook his
head. "Another day, another day..." He laughed to himself before
looking around and setting off to the right, careful to keep out
of the way of others and especially police personal. He stood
straight and his posture was almost impossible to match for
anyone. His feet although flat-footed thanks to his sneakers he
still had a good pace and his step was never off. He stretched
his hands up and then set them to his sides again. The city was
bustling and loud as usual but the one place he was going too
would definitely make his day. It wasn't everyday he had the
chance to go to the skate park but, when he did it was always a
good time for him. His figure was definitely slim, but he
obviously had some muscle mass. His face was rather rough, but
fitting to him. Rather nothing seemed off about him, besides
that he was carrying two rather different objects. A guitar case
covering his back and a skateboard in his right hand. What he
had planned for the two no one would really know, but it was
rather easy to figure out, if one really decided to think about
it that much. He kept on his way, taking a straight path through
intersections before making a quick right and throwing his board
down. This is where things got interesting. He started out
slowly but with a few kicks he went faster. His legs stable and
the board not really shaking much. He kept a steady pace and he
slowly knelt down, his feet placed at the middle and very edge
of the back of the board. He kicked up and kick-flipped into the
next street turning to a diagonal line straight for the park
entrance. Doing a small ollie before entering the park and
manualing to a stop. Kicking the board up into his hands again
as he slowly looked around, seeing a bunch of skaters. Some
young, some as old as him, others just in between teen and kid.
People of all ages and he smiled lightly to himself before
walking to the nearest ramp and hoisting himself up with one
hand. Sitting down on the edge of the ramp and setting both
board and case down. Still looking around and he laughed to
himself lightly.

She laid across the end of her bed wrapped in a towel as she
contemplated how to spend her day. Outside the sun shined
brightly and the city bustled about. There were many
possibilities, but one in particular that seemed right for
today. With that thought in mind, she rose from her bed and went
to the walk in closet attached to her room. Pulling a pair of
distressed light faded blue jean shorts from a drawer and
underwear from another, she dropped her towel and slipped them
both on. She then found a bra to match and put it on before
scavaging for a shirt. She pulled on a white bandau top over her
bra before a black tee with the sleeve cut off. To finish off
her look she pulled on her DC's. Leaving her room, she went to
the door grabbed her board along with a few other things and
left the house, being sure to lock the door behind her.
She took the stairs to the main lobby, smiling to everyone she
passed before facing the morning sun. It had been a while since
she'd been to the skate park. She had picked up a few tricks
here and there before getting too busy to practice and work with
the skill anymore. Having today as a free day, she figured why
not? Dropping the board to the ground she hopped on it and began
her ride. Being careful of pedestrains she skated down the
sidewalk after a few kicks. The park was just around the corner
from her place and didn't take long at all before she arrived.
As she came up on the park entrance, she slowed before stopping
the board. Popping it up, by touching the back with her foot,
she grabbed it with her right hand and walked in. Many people
crowded the park, people every where were skating, practicing
tricks and conversing. At the moment, she wasn't up for skating
just yet. She wanted to watch a few others before getting up and
attempting some moves. Glancing around once more, she found the
perfect spot to sit. She walked over to the edge of a ramp a
took a seat, setting her board next to her. A few feet away she
noticed guy doing the same.

He was just about to jump off the ramp, he had seen someone walk
in who had never seen, and it couldn't hurt to say hello. That
is till a few people jumped up onto the ramp with him and
laughed throwing fists and handshakes as he stood up. They were
all laughing and having a good time but, he knew better. It was
obvious about who they were that they all weren't okay but,
playing it off as nothing was how everyone worked around here.
You just fall, get right back up and keep skating. That's how
they lived and learned it seemed. He nodded towards all of them,
half listening and half intrigued by the woman who had spotted
him as well. He smiled and nodded towards her before picking up
his bored and sliding the guitar case to the very back of the
ramp and setting it up against the rail. He slowly stretched
again this time twisting himself and he popped every so often
before finally setting his board on the crook of the ramp and
stepping on the back. One leg off until he leaned forward and
kicked. He flew down the ramp, then up the other side pulling
off a heel flip 180 and landing easily. His feet shifting as he
came down and back up the other side. This time crouching he
tucked himself and pulled off a nice melon 360 before standing
up and landing smooth. His face kept the smile as he continued
up and down the ramp, faster and seemingly higher as he did so.
Every time pulling off tricks but still keeping his speed.
Before finally he went up the first side and did a quick front
flip before catching his board and landing on his feet with a
laugh that burst any sort of silence that had gone on around
them. He was laughing and everyone was cheering, making noise
and uproar galore. He had just smiled and nodded, he wasn't
prideful, no in fact he was just as humble as he had always
been. He knew he was good, but he didn't flaunt it, he just did
so good every so often to keep up with himself and not forget
that he was good. He laughed as many made jokes, and smiled,
telling stories. The conversations seemed to drag on before long
he had slipped through a few people with a hug here, handshake,
then a few pecked kisses onto his cheek. Concern driven girls
worrying over his safety. He just laughed, reassuring he wasn't
going to be hurt at all. Soon finding himself next to his case
he smiled at it. Kneeling and setting his board down lightly.
His hands quickly bringing the case to the ground and laying it
lightly, slowly flicking the clips up and pulling out a nice
sunburst acoustic guitar as he smiled to everyone and nodded.
Shrugging lightly as he slowly pushed his board closer to the
edge of the ramp and continued laughing. Seeing the worry,
doubt, and some excitement in others eyes. He shook his head and
smiled on, his lips moving slightly but no sound could be heard
over the constant doubt and worry being flared at him. His eyes
traveling to the board at his feet and the ramp below. Slowly
one hand traveling to his front right pocket and pulling out a
small silver chip. He chuckled and put both hands out before
pushing the board to the edge and keeping his foot on it. He was
still smiling, and it didn't seem like he was worried. He just
smiled and shook his head before strumming the guitar and
lifting his other foot. Pushing down on the front of the board
and gliding down the ramp before his hand kept strumming and his
other hand gripping softly in places and harder in others. He
was in fact playing a song, but was blocked out easily by the
sound of his wheels and trucks clacking every so often. He
slowly came up and stollied before winking at the girl by
herself, and finally letting go to come up the original side and
ollieing onto the ramp before sighing and shrugging at
everyone's praises and seeming idolization of him. He laughed
slightly and slid the chip back into his pocket and brushed
through everyone once again, his hands putting the guitar back
into it's case before latching it and sitting it up. Slowly
grabbing his board and slinging his guitar over his shoulder.
His laugh apparent as he stepped off the edge of the ramp and
landing perfectly fine kept walking as he looked around before
his feet brought him to the gate as he stopped.

Her eyes watched the guy she had taken a seat next to just
before he decided he no longer wanted to sit. A well manicured
browed raised itself as she watched him ride up and down the
ramp, even doing a few tricks here and there. When he stopped
the first time, she joined in on the celebration, clapping her
hands a few times. She rolled her eyes at the apraising girls,
who looked as if they would fall to their knees and kiss his
feet if need be. With all the people gathering around, she stood
up from her place and dusted off the butt of her shorts before
grabbing her board.
She was just about to turn to leave, when she noticed the guy
starting another startling performance. Now, he had returned to
his board, but with a guitar this time. Curiousity of who he was
now tugged at her mind. On the outside, he seemed like a pretty
interesting person. One that liked putting on a show, not that
she mind being one of the many that watched. A small smile
tugged at her lips and she gave him as small wave as he
acknowleged her existence. She continued to watch him until he
made his way back to the gate. That's when she decided to catch
up with him.
When she reached him, she smiled before speaking. "That was
quite the performance." she said, her voice smooth like velvet.
A soft laugh left her lips as she stepped to the other side of
the gate, officially leaving the park.

A smile spread across his face again as he heard the clamber of
footsteps behind him, knowing exactly who it was before he made
his way past the gate he watched her for a second and chuckled.
"Hey thanks, but that's nothing. You should see me cook, now
that's amazing." Before he knew it he was already right next to
her and looking down slightly to catch her eyes with his own. He
laughed again slightly before switching his board to his left
hand and offering his right hand with a smile as he watched her
and looked her once over before nodding. "Name's Craig, Craig
Linth. The pleasure is all mine I'm sure. Sorry for being a bit
of a show off back there. They enjoy all the showy and flashy
crap." He scratched the back of his head before sighing and
shaking her hand firmly but not too tightly. His eyes traveling
to the constant flow of traffic before he finally looked back at
her and looked around again. "How about some coffee, my treat?"
He smiled again looking into her eyes again as his eyes gleamed
lightly with the glare of the sun. A deep brown with flares of
green near his pupil. A rare occasion it only happened every so
often, but now it seemed just like a trick of the light.
His eyes traveled back from the traffic and incessant beeping as
well as the constant yelling he sighed and looked at her again.
"The sooner the better right?" He chuckled and motioned with a
quick move of his wrist to take a quick left before he laughed
and kept a spot on the inside of the sidewalk open. Walking
closest to the road and not being bothered by the constant
noise. Still hearing everything that would be said or exchanged
between the two of them. "So, what were you doing back there,
you kinda just skated in and decided to leave I guess?" He
questioned with a chuckle before looking down at her trying to
be polite and listen to her making it easier to keep eye contact
as he watched her and listened.

A smile spread wider as she caught sight of his own smile. "Well
I can't do that, unless you plan to cook for me." she joked.
Being right handed, she had to switch the board to her left
hand, before taking his hand in her own and giving it a soft
shake. "Well it's nice to meet you Craig. I'm Jacelynn. And yeah
I kind of noticed that." She took ahold of her board again with
her right hand as she watched him take in their surroundings.
"That sounds good to me." she answered. She met his brown eyes
with her blue ones, with the exception on the brown spot in her
right eye. It was unusual, but some people barely even noticed
her eyes, even if they are known to be the windows of the soul.
She nodded and followed along beside him, staying on the inside
of the sidewalk. Around them the roar of engines, beeping of
horns and the sounds of conversation filled the air. Through all
of that though, he was still fairly easy to hear. "I had no
plans for the day, so I figured I would work on my techniques,
but then you caught my attention, and well here I am." She
laughed softly, wondering if what she said had been a little
strange. Ever so often she would glance up at him, make eye
contact, before looking back ahead to keep an eye out that she
didn't bump into anyone.

He nodded lightly to her every word, still catching her even
though the traffic was quite hectic and loud he still hung on
and listened. He was watching her about as much as she him, so
their views were never really parted, but always in the same
place as the other. His eyes blinking every so often to keep the
sun at bay and his pupils from dialating. He had caught her
color disfigurement in her right eye and slowly wondered to
himself about it before shrugging it off and looking down the
street then back up at her. "I usually go to the small coffee
shop a block or two down, it's a little much, but it's usually
worth it and they don't care about the boards and everything."
He informed her before stepping up to a street and pushing the
button on the pole. Waiting a few seconds before taking a step
out into the now stopped traffic. He quickly traveled half way
across before waiting and keeping pace with her again. About
four or five more buildings down and they were there. His left
hand grabbing the door as he swung it outwards and open, the
smell of fresh coffee, and hints of different spices and flavors
all around. His hand and board swinging lightly to offer the
open door to her. "After you..." His smile apparent as he stood
at the open door and followed her inside soon enough. His eyes
scanning the room and it wasn't crowded at all, slowly walking
around her and taking her board with a smile.
"Don't worry I got it." His voice echoed lightly as he turned
back and walked to the right side of the store and he set the
boards down on the floor next to the chairs, before pulling both
chairs out slightly and motioning for her to come sit down. With
a light wave of his hand as he watched her walk over, his eyes
still observing her more than beautiful figure as his eyes
stopped at hers and his smile appeared once again. "They usually
just ask what I want and bring it over, cause I'm a normal,
never seen it so empty at this time in the morning." He looked
around again before politely pushing in her chair and walking
over to his own before setting his case against the table with a
slight "thunk." and sat down in his own chair, pulling it in so
he could get comfortable. His eyes scanning the area before
looking at her again. "How do you usually like your coffee?" He
asked lightly before making eye contact with her and watching
her eyes carefully, his own just blinking every so often and his
smile was still there, as he was being nice and friendly, even
to strangers this was how he was naturally.

"Well that sounds good to me." She kept a watchful eye on the
traffic, pausing at the corner of sidewalk as he pushed the
button for the crosswalk. Only a few moments had passed before
they were able to walk and that's when she followed him across
the crosswalk. She walked along beside him until he opened the
door to the small coffee shop. As soon as the door opened the
aroma of freshly brewed coffee along with other spices invaded
her nostrils. She smiled and thanked Craig, before stepping over
the threshold and entering the coffee shop. She looked up at
him as he gently tugged the board from her grasp.
"Well I would hope so." she said before laughing softly. She
followed him over to a table adorned with two chairs. She could
feel his eyes on her as he looked her over in a rather subtle
way, but she still took notice. "Well thats interesting. I
haven't been to a coffee shop where they come to the table to
take your order. As for it not being crowded, at least it will
be easier for us to hear one another." She took a seat and
allowed him to gently slide her closer to the table. "You're
such a gentleman." she said laughing softly before smiling and
meeting his gaze. "With a little cream and sugar. Nothing too
fancy or complicated." She sat back in her chair as she glanced
around the little shop, getting acquainted with her
surroundings.

He nodded and smiled at her request before tapping the table two
times. "So tell me, other than being the occasional Hot Skater
Chick, what do you do? If you don't mind me asking?" He let out
a small chuckle as he set his arms against the table, careful to
keep his elbows off and his hands up as they were brought
together and he smiled. His glance shifting to his left as he
pulled his hands back and nodded to a girl who had set two cups
of coffee on the table, both nice and freshly warm. He nodded
and she did as well as she walked away he would look back at
Jacelynn immediately and focus on her. "It's on me so no
worries." He smiled again, taking the cup into his hand and
bringing it to his lips. A quick breath before he blew on it
slightly and took a nice drink, setting it down as he exhaled
and smiled brightly. He chuckled lightly and looked at her
still. "The coffee is always fresh, and the best in town." His
eyes traveled from looking into hers to looking around behind
her as he set the cup down but still held it, and his other hand
placed on his lap as he would listen to her and focus on what
she was talking about. His gaze hadn't shifted for a while till
the doorbell went off and he looked over.
Shrugging and looking back at her before continuing. "Well
rather than sit here with nothing to chat about besides
explaining ourselves, how about you allow me the pleasure of
accompanying you to wherever you may want to go today, and in
fact I'll pay for everything. Does that sound like a good plan
for today?" He smiled again and took another drink of coffee
before setting the cup down and reaching behind him, grabbing
his wallet and pulling a twenty out. Setting it on the table and
nodding at the same person who had come over and filled up each
of their cups. He sat up straight, and had well behaved manners,
even as the woman came back with sugar and milk he hadn't moved
out of place. Before finally taking a small spoon and stirring
the coffee. His eyes fixed on hers as he smiled. A light chuckle
as he nodded. "And yes, I am being completely serious on taking
you wherever you wish to go, my treat."

The color of her cheeks changed to turn a light rosy pink at his
words. "I dance. That's about it. I'm pretty relaxed I suppose
you could say, but I like having fun." she answered, her tone
remaining the same as before. She smiled and murmured a thanks
to the girl, who sat the two fresh cups of coffee on the table.
She took a glance at the coffee watching as the steam from it
rose up into the air. "Well you mentioned that before, I didn't
think you were gonna back out." She laughed softly and smiled at
him before lifting the hot cup to her lips. Blowing softly on
the hot liquid for a few moments, she finally took a sip of the
coffee. The noise of the doorbell sounded off meeting her ears,
but she didn't turn to see who had entered the small shop.
She quirked a brow as a string of words left his lips to grace
her ears. "Well yeah that sounds like good a plan to me, if
that's how you want to spend the day. Cause I myself would also
enjoy your company for the day." Her eyes watched him nearly the
whole time she sat in the seat at the small table in the quaint
shop. She took another small sip of coffee and smiled and
shrugged. "Well if thats the case, then lets go to the carnival
down the street. Does that sound okay to you?"
