A forgotten realm.
By: Keo Date: June 24, 2013, 2:27 am

A castle kisses the skyline, its roof looking as if its touching
the stars or carressing the moon. Here lives a woman forgotten
by time, a ghost in her own house but never to those who know
her secret. She lives to protect the world that has forgotten
about her and the threats that go bump in the night. All though
the treeline is beautiful during the day and during dawn and
dusk, creatures of all kind live within them, some sweet and shy
but others that will kill for fun.

For what had seemed like days, the man had traveled through the
forest without any luck of finding his way around. The area was
thick with trees and the darkness made it easy for creatures to
hide themselves from his sight. Jecht had been roaming the
forest for hours since he had arrived at this realm. "Damn...
Been here for a while now... What's up with this place..?" He
said to himself as he continued to walk through the trees,
trying to find his way through.
"Where am I..?" Jecht asked himself as he continued to traverse
through the dense forest. He could feel several presences
watching him as he continued to walk. He felt as though he was
being stalked through the forest.

A familiar sound echos through the forest air. A deep sigh
causes the woman's chest to rise and fall before she goes to
dress for battle. "They always co.e out when I am not in the
mood for a fight, but when I feel like practicing, they
magically disappear into thin air. Not even a piece of fur left
behind for me to find." As the woman finishes dressing, she
looks out her window then jumps. Why use stairs that moan and
groan under ones feet when the soft landing can provide a much
better element of surprise. When the woman touches the ground,
she takes a crouched position to survey the surroundings and
count heads. 'One, two, and an unfamiliar......' Though this new
presence perplexed and slightly vexed her, she choose to ignore
it for the time being and accomplish the task at hand.
Slender fingers silently retrieve a razor blade from her thigh
pouch, slicing her fingers and palm on her right hand. Standing
and allowing her cloak to flow down to drag on the ground for a
distracting noise, Shannen walks into the forest with a hidden
grin. Her bloodied hand rubbing against the trees in a frenzied
manner to suggest she was a scared and lost village woman.
Within five minutes of her wandering around, she heard the first
guttural growl which told the woman the first attack was about
to begin.

Jecht continued to wander the forest aimlessly for a while
longer. His left hand gripped his large blade with ease,
dragging it lightly on the ground he tread on. The chain
attached to his blade rattled with each step that he took,
almost as an invite to anyone or anything who wished to attack.
Jecht was rather infamous for the rattling of his chain when he
either stalked his prey, or when he searched for his next
victim. It was often said that the rattling of the chain on his
blade signified the last sound one would hear before being
impaled by his great sword, Apocalypse. Jecht was often
merciless in his approach to combat, but did not take the life
of a person in pleasure. Only when it was an absolute necessity.
As Jecht walked, he heard the sound of a growl, much like that
of a wolf or dog-like creature. Turning his head towards the
direction of the sound, he began to hear the sounds of small
steps running in that particular direction. Whatever was going
on in that direction, something was attracting the creatures
that way. Curious about what was in store, Jecht decided to
follow the noise for a while and see where that took him. It
wasn't long before one of the creatures decided to attack Jecht.
He quickly dispensed of the creature, using his large blade to
slash the creature almost in half, the whine of the creature
drawing the attention of the others to Jecht.

A sound echoing in the distance catches Shannen's attention for
a split second, but within that minuscule the woman trips and
falls to the ground. "Got damn it......" Quickly returning to
her feet, she turns to face the beast standing in front of her
for only a second before running off in the direction of the
rattling noise. Whoever or whatever was in the forest with her
ruined her hunt, which is something that one did not do.
Following with swift and silent feet, the woman follows the
lycans to the source of the noise and the kill.
A man, or something in the form of a man stood with the
creatures circling him with a curious yet furious distance. He
had killed the pack leader, the one that Shannen had been trying
to bring out of hiding for years. How did this new comer just
attract and kill him? A deep fury burns within the woman's eyes
as she watches the movement of the lycan and the new comer from
a safe distance within a tree. If he looked like he couldn't
hamdle himself in the battle, she would jump down to help, but
not before, she wanted to see the power of this one who killed
the head lycan.......

"Great... Just what I needed..." Sighing in a somewhat
disappointed matter, Jecht readied his blade, a slightly orange
and black aura surrounding his left fist as his crimson red eyes
let out a slight glow. "I hope this isn't as easy as it
looks..." He studied his surroundings a moment, noticing that an
abundant number of the creatures had already surrounded him and
were ready to strike without hesitation. He could hear a good
number of them snarling at him, savoring the meal to come. He
could feel their hunger, and lack of patience to feed. The first
one lunges at him. Jecht easily disposes of him, stepping
slightly to the side to avoid the initial strike and stabbing
the creature in the head.
Pulling the blade out, the next one attacked, aiming for his
arm. Jecht quickly turns and lands a blow to its stomach,
punching the wolf away into the tree, howling in pain as it
collided against it and falling to the ground. As he dispensed
of the creatures one after the other, they began to attack him
more furiously and without restraint. Jecht could only smile at
their foolish attempts at trying to slay him and continued to
slash, kick and punch each one down as they came at him until
only a few of them remained.

Sitting within her tree, Shannen continues watching, waiting for
him to make a mistake or something that would add interest to
this one sided party. This creature in her realm, he is
something she had not encountered yet. 'I want to know this
creature's history, but I am slightly entertained by just
watching him do my job. But if he kills them all, what will I
have to do with myself then? Maybe this is just the universe
saying that its finally time for me to move on with my life and
leave the town where I am nothing but a ghost in a haunted
house.'
Standing, the woman grabs a branch and snaps it within her hands
to draw the new creature's attention and that of the lycan left.
It is her turn to have fun now. Slicing both palms, she jumps
down to the ground and begins running again, leaving a trail of
blood on the ground and along the trees....

After what had seemed to be a somewhat endless supply of
enemies, the lycans that had attacked Jecht finally began to
disperse. Some began to run in fear of Jecht while the others
had begun to chase the new prey that they were after. Jecht
watched as they left quickly and noticed that most of what
remained of the pack began to run in a single direction. "Huh...
Guess they had enough of me..." Jecht laughed softly to himself
before picking up a scent in the air. This was not from the
lycans, but from another being. It smelled of blood. The scent
was very faint, but was near unmistakable. "Hmm... So that's why
they left..."
Jecht walked slowly towards the origin of the scent, soon
finding a trail of blood on the ground. "Looks like I'm not the
only one here....." Jecht smiled softly and touched the ground
lightly where the blood had dampened the soil. "Still warm...
Very fresh... They must be close.." Jecht looked up and watched
as the trail of blood led away from the area and deeper into the
forest. His curiosity getting the better of him, he began to
take a slight running pace, following the trail to see what he
could find.

Looking behind her, Shannen listens to the sound of the lycan's
steps but there is a different sound. He seemed to be following
the pack. Stopping and leaping into another tree, the woman
quickly binds her hands and turns around to return to her home.
Today is a day for curiosity satisfaction not fighting or
watching the fight. Quickly yet silently she runs across the
trees until she finds the creature trailing the pack or what
remained of it.
"You will never find what made the blood trail by following the
things that want to consume it. But then again, when the food
gets away....." Chuckling to herself, she takes off, jumping
down from the trees to run on the ground once more.

Jecht slowed his pace down as another presence came into the
area. This was unfamiliar and did not seem to have a murderous
intent. Hearing the voice of said presence, he turned to find
the origin of the voice in the trees above. "I wasn't following
them..." Jecht smirked lightly, the scent of blood now a bit
more present than before. The girl slightly wreaked of blood and
it's scent matched the blood he found on the ground earlier.
"I take it you're the one drawing the beasts away from me?"
Jecht smiled as she jumped down and began to run again. Curious
about the girl and what she was doing here, he decided to run
after her for a while, a bit excited as to where this would
lead.
