As Mar walked along with the girl he shook his head a little
bit, shivering to himself yet again. "Don't worry Flick I said
you were fine. You're not boring me at all and no you didn't
tell me about Skip. What is he? A pet, Brother, Lover, Father?
Or Skip a female, I can't really tell with that name." Flick and
Skip sounds like two people Chess would know. Maybe even
belonging to the same family as Chess. They all had strange
names, Chess, Checkers, Rubix, Blink. She didn't seem like she
was apart of the family let alone even knew of them. Mar
shrugged a little bit and looked back down at Flick. "I'm not
sure, I never really sat around a fire after getting wet. I'm
not even sure the mansion has a fire place. I spend most my down
under the mansion. Flag and Violet are the ones who spend their
time in the mansion it self." Speaking of the mansion they were
coming right up on it. They couldn't really make out any details
just the figure of it because of it being dark. As they drew
closer Mar looked at Flick and started to speak. "Just to warn
you Violet is a pretty cold person. She's not a people person at
all. Flag you don't have to worry about, he's kind to almost
everyone he meets. I don't know how he does it."
Mar reached out and opened the door slowly, he stepped in and
left the door open for just enough time for Flick to get in. He
closed the door behind her. He turned to take a look at the
inside of the mansion. "Welcome." He said softly and stood
there. The place was a mess, they lived there but it looked like
it hadn't been used in years. Dust everywhere and spider webs
filled the place. Melted candles everywhere only replaced by
newer ones that barely lit the place up. "It's not much I
know..." He was cut off when he finally looked at Flick seeing
more detail now in her face and clothes. He was speechless for a
moment. "Well...you sure look interesting. How are you not
freezing? Come on." He said and started to lead her up some
stairs to the second floor. "Watch your step." Mar reached up
and put his hood done letting his long black hair free. His skin
was very pale which made his black hair stand out a bit more.

Flick giggled at his suggestions of who Skip might be, shaking
her head at each of them. "He's my friend. My best friend. He's
looked after me for a very long time, and I look after him too!
He's pretty big, but he's only half grown so he's gonna get
bigger." Her eyes widened as he spoke again, staring up at him
in disbelief. "You've never sat around a fire after being wet?!
I think we'll have to make a fire. That is, if that's okay with
you and we can find somewhere. I mean, I don't want to start one
in the mansion if there's no where to put one of course, just in
case we burnt it down and then you'd have no house and it'd be
my fault and you'd have to live outside in the rain and the cold
and you and your family would get sick and-" she paused for
breath and shook her head, her lip sticking out in a pout as she
frowned. "I don't think it would be a good idea after all." She
looked up at the mansion as they reached the door, lowering her
umbrella and stepping inside behind him. Rattling the umbrella
to let all the water fall off it, she set it to one side and
leant it against the wall. Looking around, her eyes widened once
more though this time in awe. "This is amazing! It's so old and
dusty, it's like an old man, full of memories and stories!" She
spun around in a circle slowly to get a look around, then
blinked and watched as Mar began up the stairs. Realizing she
was to follow, she ran after him and clambered up behind him. "I
like your house. How long have you been here? Is it yours or do
you just stay here? How old do you think it is? I bet its
reeaally old, I like old buildings. Do you like old buildings?
Well I suppose you must do if you live in one."

Mar nodded a bit once she spoke of Skip. "A friend huh? Maybe
I'll get to meet this best friend of yours one day." When she
looked at him in disbelief and went on about making a fire he
finally cracked a small smile. For a short moment before he
caught himself and stopped. Mar shrugged a little bit walking up
the stairs. "I'm sure there's a fire place some where in this
mansion. We'll look here in a bit how does that sound?" He ask
calmly and started off heading down a long hallway to a bedroom.
Mar was glad to hear she liked the house, with is being in such
an old and dirty state. That's why no one bother with them. No
one thought there was no body living in the mansion so it never
caught anyone's attention to try and when the off chance some
one did try Mar could remember scaring them away so he could be
in peace. "Well Flick I'm glad you like it and since you do feel
free to stay as long as you want I suppose. I won't mind and
neither will the other two, he have lots of rooms that around
being used." Mar said as he searched around the room for a towel
her something for Flick. He stopped looking around to think for
a moment. "I've.....I've been here four years. These past four
years are the only years I can really remember. Though I have a
few memories as a child and this mansion was here when I was a
child...so it's pretty old."
Mar shrugged yet again and continued to look. "I suppose I like
this place. It gives me shelter and peace from the rest of the
word. That's all I really care about." He spotted something for
Flick. It wasn't a towel but a light blanket. He picked it up
and shook it about getting the dust off of it. He frowned a
little bit and looked at Flick. "I suppose this with do for
now." He walked over to Flick and wrapped it around her
shoulder. Mar left the room as he spoke. "Now let's go find a
fire place. I'm sure there might be one in the den down stairs."
Mar said heading for the stairs once more.

Flick nodded with a wide smile as Mar spoke of meeting Skip.
"I'd like that! And I'm sure he would too. He doesn't like new
people usually but I think you'll be okay." She followed him up
the stairs and nodded again in agreement to his idea, her gaze
starting to wonder around the hallway. For a moment, her stride
slowed as the old building took her interest and she seemed to
daze into a world of her own, a light humming coming from her
pursed lips as her steps caught their own rhythm. Dancing down
the hallway in a sort of waltz while her eyes took in the walls
and ceiling around her, Flick was knocked out of her daydream by
the sound of his voice. "Hmm? Oh, that's very kind of you!" She
smiled and the glazed look that had covered her eyes now faded.
She followed him into the room and watched him search, holding
her hands behind her back as she rocked back and forth on her
heels. Once again, her eyes wondered around the room and her
eyes glazed over, her lips parting slightly in a childish manner
as her daydreams made her lose focus, though again his voice
brought her back to the room.
"Oh, I see! You know, I bet if you found the date brick, you
could find out how old it is. Every old building has a date
brick. Did you know that? I did. I bet it's somewhere outside,
or in the basement. Does it have a basement? I suppose it
probably does, most old buildings do." She nodded her head as if
to emphasize this and then blinked as she felt something being
wrapped around her. In all of her talking, she had barely
noticed him pick up the blanket. She giggled and lifted it over
her head to a sort of hood, rubbing her hair with it a little.
As Mar left the room, Flick ran after him, letting the blanket
trail after her almost like a cape. Pausing at the top of the
stairs, she looked at Mar and then at the banister. Raising an
eyebrow, she giggled to herself and threw a leg over the
banister to sit on it, before pushing herself forwards. Sliding
down, she squealed and giggled with joy, her child-like laughter
echoing around the halls. Landing perfectly on her feet, she
giggled again and pulled the blanket back up over her head, as
it had fallen on her way down. "Okay, now we can go find a
fireplace."

Mar shrugged a little bit when she spoke of it being very kind
of him. "Well you seem nice enough plus we have lots of room
here. It'll be nice having some one like you around." He said
truthfully as he made his way down the hallway. As Mar headed to
the stairs he thought about the date brick. Some where outside
the house or in the basement. He never really cared to much
about how old this place was til she asked about it. He simply
shrugged as he continued to walk. "Sure, we'll take a look
around out side when the weather clears up to see what we can
find." He only said about looking outside for the date brick,
but not a word about the basement. Was there even a basement in
this mansion or was he hiding something? It wouldn't be to
surprising if he was. He hid things from everyone, even Flag and
Violet. But Flick did ask if he had a basement. He grew very
quite at the moment and shook his head a little bit. "We do, but
it's a place for nightmares. It's not safe to go down there so I
don't think it'd be a very good idea." Mar snapped out of it and
put all his attention on Flick as she slid down the railing of
the stairs. He couldn't help but to crack another very small
smile watching. "Well that's one way of getting down."
Mar nodded a little bit and led the way to the den. The den was
near the back of the mansion. He took her through another
hallway and into a big dinning room. A long table stood in the
center of the room and hanging over the table was a big
chandelier and like the rest of the mansion it was covered in
dust and webs. "Well I'm sure you can guess that this is the
dinning room. I've never really used this room before, but
Violet and Flag use it a lot." He pointed to the table at a few
pizza boxes and Chinese food boxes setting around on the table.
"They never really clean up." He said before opening a door to
yet another room. It was dark in there at first. Waving his hand
over a few candles slowly he lit them up giving the room a
little light. This was the den. It was filled with books, a
writing desk and three chairs. One at the desk and two others at
the fire place. Mar was right, there was a fireplace here. "Well
will you look at that. Take a seat Flick." Mar walked over to
the fire place already having a bit of wood there. He did the
same thing with the candles waving his hand over the pieces of
wood catching them on fire. He nodded and sat back in one of the
chairs.

Flick smiled and tilted her head slightly. "Someone like me?"
She giggled and skipped alongside him, thinking about what he
said about the basement. "Nightmares? I'm not scared of
nightmares. I used to have them all the time when I was a kid,
but Skip was always there to protect me. Even in my sleep! I bet
if I went down there he'd protect me. He always turns up at the
right times, it's like he knows when I'm in trouble. Y'know,
like he watches me? But that'd be silly, he's not psychic. I
don't think bears can be psychic, do you?" Once again her
curious gaze looked upon him, though not for long as they
entered the dining room. She looked around with wide eyes as she
had throughout the rest of the mansion. For a moment she stared
at the chandelier before turning to Mar as he spoke. "Are they
here in the mansion? They're very quiet if they are. Do you
think they'll like me? I hope so. Are they as nice as you are?
Do you like me? Well, I guess that's a silly question. You've
been kind to me so I guess you must. And I don't suppose you'd
say you didn't to my face, huh?" As he opened the door to the
other room, she followed him through and looked around before
watching him with the fire. With a tilt of her head, she blinked
and then sat down in front of the fire on the ground. Holding
the blanket around her, she watched the flames for a moment
while she felt the warmth of the fire spread over her. "The only
thing missing now is marshmallows." She giggled and folded her
legs, fidgeting slightly to get comfortable.

Mar nodded a bit as he sat back in his chair. "Yes Flick some
one like you. I'm enjoying the fact that I can talk to you. I'm
not a people person so I tend to avoid everyone. Maybe there's
something different about you. I just don't know, I'm not
forcing you to stay here either. There will always be a room
here for you." He said honestly looking over at her for a moment
and then back at the fire. He thought about the basement and
nightmares for a moment. He shook his head after she was done
talking about it. "Trust me that is not a place for you or Skip.
There are things down there that don't belong here. It's best
not to go down there." Mar shook his head and looked at her once
more. "It's not silly Flick. You two are connected to each
other. You have a strong bond which is why he's always there to
protect you. So then he's a bear? That's interesting." Mar just
shrugged a bit when she asked about Flag and Violet. "They could
be here I'm not sure. Flag could be off some where reading and
Violet could be off some where sleeping. You never know." Little
did Mar know Flag was standing in the door way listening in on
them talking, smiling a little bit. Mar cracked another small
smile and shook his head a little bit.
He nodded and looked at Flick. "Of course I like you. If I
didn't I would have left you out there in the rain. Unless you
were hurt or a small child. I would have done something then to
you help you of course. I'm not that cold." He turned to look
back at the fire as it warm up the room a bit. He tilted his
head a little bit as she talked about marshmallows. "I'm not
really sure what those are." Suddenly Flag laughed and pushed
himself off the wall. He was still wearing the blind fold but
had no troubles getting around. "It's a sweet snack that people
like roasting over a fire. I'm not surprised you don't know what
they are since you never get out in the world." Mar looked up at
Flag as he stood in between the chairs. Flag looked down at
Flick making prefect eye contact with her even with the blind
fold there. "I'm Flag, I'm the more cheerful and talkative one
here." He chuckled and held out his hand for her to shake. Mar
stayed silent as Flag talked to Flick.

Flick smiled brightly as he spoke again, nodding her head.
"Thank you very much Mister Mar." She itched at her chin for a
moment as she stared into the fire, thoughts swimming in her
head. Absent-mindedly she glanced down to her gloved fingers and
blinked as she saw the black lipstick had smudged down from the
rain. Tilting her head slightly, she tugged her gloves off to
reveal dainty hands, her finger nails painted black and red in
an alternating pattern which matched the rest of her. It seemed
this colour scheme dominated her appearance and what Mar would
probably end up figuring out, they were the only colours she
ever wore. Once her hands were out of the gloves, it would be
difficult to see in the light of the fire but if Mar looked
close enough he would see the beginning of a burn around her
right wrist which disappeared up her sleeve. She wiped the back
of her hand across her lips and chin to wipe off the makeup,
rubbing it all away to leave just her pink skin. Lifting her
mask slightly, she slid one of her hands beneath it to wipe away
the rest of her makeup, then lowered it again before slipping
her gloves back on.
Upon hearing him speak of the basement, her curiosity was peaked
but she spoke no more of it. If her curiosity grew much more,
she could always explore at another time. Hearing a voice from
behind, she squeaked and turned to look, almost getting tangled
in the blanket that was tucked beneath her and wrapped around
her. "Oh, hello! I didn't hear you come in." She looked from the
new stranger to Mar, assuming this must be Flag since they
seemed to know each other. Or at least, Mar wasn't reacting in a
way that told her he was an intruder. Her suspicions were
confirmed once he introduced himself. "It's nice to meet you
Flag, my name's Flick." She smiled and took his hand, shaking it
as she tilted her head curiously. "Can I ask why you're wearing
a blind fold? I mean, I don't mind if you don't want to answer.
I know some people who get twitchy about answering certain
questions, I just thought I'd ask to be sure. Since you never
really know until you ask, right?" she turned her gaze to Mar
and blinked. "Am I talking too much again?"

Mar shook his head a little bit and waved his hand around.
"Please Flick just Mar. Mister just doesn't sound right." Mar
looked over at Flick as she removed her gloves. She sure was an
interesting looking person with the way she dressed. He wasn't
going to simply judge her though on the way she dressed, it's
not like it was a bad thing. He thought she was in his head nice
to look at. He turned away with a puzzled look on his face.
'Nice to look at? Where the hell did that come from?' He thought
just before shrugging it off and listened to Flag and her now
talking with each other. He didn't notice the burn on her hand,
not yet at least. Flag chuckled shaking while shaking her hand
before puling his back. "Well Flick it's nice to meet you too.
It's nice hearing that Mar has no troubles talking to." Mar
Looked up at his younger brother and then rolled his eyes. "If
anyone should learn how to talk to anybody it's Violet." Flag
thought about that for a moment and then nodded in agreement. "I
suppose your right, she is a bit...on edge at times." When Flick
asked why he wore the blind fold he just smiled at her and shook
his head. "It's no problem at all, it's nothing for me to be
ashamed at so I don't mind people asking..." Flag was then cut
off by Mar.
"No Flick like I said your fine, Flag is the last person you
have to worry about when it comes to you talking." Fag nodded a
bit and chuckled. "It's true, I love friendly faces to talk to.
Now back on my blind fold. I wear it to protect people I look
at. My eyes have a way of hurting peoples minds. They horribly
break peoples minds. It's hard to explain but just because I
wear this blind doesn't mean I can't see. Like I know what your
wearing and what colour it is. Black and red, just like your
finger nails. Oh and your eyes, blue!" Flag chuckled a bit and
looked around the room. "Well..." He looked back down at Flag
and smiled. "I'm gonna get going. I have places to be and I have
people to see." He leaned in and whispered in Flicks ear. "Thank
you, Mar need some one other then us." He chuckled and
straighten himself up before leaving. "Bye!" He said as Mar
watched him leave an then he looked back at Flick. "What did he
whisper in your ear?"

As Flag spoke, she tilted her head and looked over at Mar.
Troubles? Well, at least he was okay with her, or at least that
was what Flag implied. She wondered if she would meet this
Violet any time soon. Maybe she was nearby already? After all,
Flag had appeared out of no where, would Violet be the same? Her
thoughts had caused her to drift but she was brought back by
Flag's voice. She looked to Mar and chewed her lip. "Should I
stop asking if I talk too much then?" Worry filled her eyes. Was
her pestering more annoying than her talking? Maybe she should
just be quiet for a while, play it safe. She relaxed as Flag
began to explain, turning around to face him properly so she
could listen. Her eyes were wide while he spoke, an expression
on her face that made her look like a child listening to a
story. "That's amazing!" As he leaned in close, she tilted her
head towards him to hear him better, a smile lifting her lips.
"Bye Flag!" She waved as he left and then fidgeted around to
face the fire again. Hearing Mar question the whisper, Flick
simply tapped the side of her nose with a finger and grinned.
"That's for me to know and you to not know."
Turning back to the fire, Flick giggled her childish giggle and
fidgeted around again. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable, she
always preferred sitting in the ground, she just found it
difficult to sit still at times. She turned her gaze to Mar and
then back to the fire, an expression on her face as though she
were in deep thought. After a few seconds, she looked again, her
bunches swinging back and forth with the motion of her head
before once again, she looked back to the fire. Again she waited
a few seconds and then looked at Mar, though this time she
blinked and spoke. "Do you have any friends besides Flag and
Violet?" For once, she didn't chunner or ask a thousand
questions, just the one. She looked up at him with her curious
eyes and although the question might seem forward or rude, to
her it was simply a question. What Flag had whispered in her ear
had echoed in her thoughts and it was these thoughts that
brought up the question. She had a few friends, but the ones she
had were the best of friends and whenever she met new people,
such as Mar and now Flag, she liked to think of them as best of
friends too. She had wondered what it would be like to not have
such friends, and if what Flag had said was true, maybe Mar
didn't have any other friends? And to Flick, that seemed
terrible, and she hoped to change that.
