"I do all that I need to protect my Queen from harm." Gideon
       replied.
He smiled and wrapped his arms around Melanie's hips, holding
her up to him. He pressed his lips to hers, empowering her with
his own strength a little to keep her from feeling the effects
of the blade near by. Gideon untied the strap around his waist
to let the sheath loose. He handed it to Melanie and smiled,
asking her to hold it for a moment while he went to the other
weapon. He gave her another gentle kiss before walking towards
       Ragnell.
Covering his hands with the amalgam once more, he picked up
Ragnell and unsheathed it. He studied the blade a moment before
touching it with his left hand, the blade beginning to glow just
like Alondite did. The blade began to crystalize and become
transparent, materializing into the same material Alondite had
transformed into, only with a copper-orange hue to the blade.
Gideon sighed lightly as this drained him of even more of his
strength. He re-sheathed Ragnell and tied the sheath to his
       right hip.
"Alright.. Let us go home together, my Queen. I must rest..."
Gideon smiled as he walked back towards Melanie, giving her one
last kiss before they walked towards the place he would call
home now, he wrapped one arm around her waist and kept her
       close.

The kiss felt amazing, and full of love despite the short she
had known him. Melanie had never felt this for anyone, not human
or faerie, but she was happy now. She wanted to just seal them
both in their bedroom and stay there for weeks. The very though
sent a chill down her spine.
“Yes, let us go home.” She whispered, feeling saddened when the
       kiss was broken.
Melanie used the arm Gideon had around her to steady her steps
as they walked; but as she regained her strength, she allowed
him to rest against her if he needed. She could feel that he had
used a great amount of energy to transmute his swords, as well
as to engaged Balthazar and Damien. This man truly was special,
and he fought bravely to keep her safe. The pride she felt in
that fact swelled in her heart.
“You know,” She started and glanced up at her king, “we won’t
see Balthazar anymore, though I do fear for my father now. He
knows I have a king now, and will not interfere. He will simply
take his anger out on my father, but frankly my father deserves
it. This,” She gestured to herself and the absent Balthazar, “is
entirely his fault. Had he not promised me to him, Balthazar
       would not have threatened him.”
A shudder ran through her body, thinking of how her life might
have been, had she married the winter faerie. She, herself,
would have become a winter faerie, cold and hateful. Yes, the
summer fae tricked humans, and occasionally killed them, but not
with the pure intention of murder. Winter faeries, though,
tortured and killed humans brutally; doing so out of the belief
that humans were inferior and would be the death of the planet.
“But,” She continued, her gaze becoming vacant, “that Blackstone
Knight, Damien you called him, will most certainly return. I
believe he will be more vigilant knowing that you and I are
paired. He tried to take me as his own, a long time ago,” She
shuddered once again, “but my father’s elite guard interfered.”
As she talked, Melanie lost focus of the area around them, and
before she realized it, they had arrived at their city. A
brilliant smile bloomed upon her lips as she stared up at the
sapphire embedded within the palace. Her mind immediately forgot
about Damien and refocused up when her king might do to her, in
       a sexual nature.
“We are home, my king.” She said, pointing at their illustrious
       palace.

Gideon took a deep breath, his body still recovering from the
battle. While he felt no physical pain from the fight, he still
felt sore and slightly weak. He was not weak enough, however, to
need to rely on his new queen to keep him balanced. He smiled as
they walked together, listening to her explain her past to him.
This discouraged him slightly as he wondered as to why he could
not have been found sooner. He would have protected her then as
he has now. He was happy that he was with her now, he could keep
her safe from the men who would try to force her into being with
       them.
"I promise you will not have to worry about him again. If he
knows what is good for him, he will not try to take you from me
       ever."
Gideon softly kissed her lips and smiled as he found himself at
the city where she lived. He looked around a moment to admire
the large palace that he would now call his home. He wondered
about the palace and what he would find there, aside from the
room and the bed they would share later. He had already thought
about what they may do later behind closed doors and this
excited him slightly. For now, he wanted to rest and hoped that
his queen would be with him while he did.
"My... What a wonderful place, my Queen.. Can I truly call this
       place my home...?"
Gideon was not used to such luxury. Since he lived on the road
as a mercenary, he never bothered with finding a home for
himself. Such luxuries were not needed for a mercenary such as
him. The fact that he now had a place to finally call home made
him very happy, and much happier still knowing that he even had
someone to share this home with.

The look upon her king’s face brought a smile to Melanie’s lips.
Few ever had the privilege of setting their eyes upon a faerie
city, and fewer still lived to speak of it. The faeries shared
that one quality with their cousins, the elves; in which they
preferred their realms to remain private and away from prying
eyes. But, unlike the elves, faeries did not let those who had
seen their world to walk away. They either became slaves, were
driven mad through faerie trickery, or killed for mere pleasure.
Only two beings in all of history had been allowed to walk away
with their sanity intact, and both worked heavily to gain the
       trust of the Fae.
“Yes, my king, you can truly call this palace your home; unless
you wish to move, which would not be difficult at all.”
The thought of sharing this place, her sanctuary, with another
was thrilling. Other than a few servants, and human slaves, none
had truly seen home. And now she had her king, her lifelong
companion, with whom to share it. Melanie placed a small kiss
upon his lips before grabbing his hand. Stairs extended out from
within the tree, spiraling up and into the canopy. The trip did
not take long, and within moments they were stepping into the
       foyer of the palace.
       “Welcome home, my king.”

Gideon stared in awe at the place he was now about to call home.
He loved the natural aspect of the city and of the palace. There
was naught but life around him in every direction and he felt
empowered here. And since he still possessed his treasured
weapons, Alondite and Ragnell, he felt as though he could never
be defeated. He smiled and held Melanie's hand as she walked him
up up the stairs and into the canopy. Before him now stood the
palace, an amazing structure to behold. That much was certain.
       "Wow... What a beautiful place.."
Gideon smiled at Melanie as he marveled at his new home. He
placed a gentle kiss upon her lips and continued to walk with
her. "Well, my dear.. Where to now? Seeing as how this is my
first time here, I feel a bit... out of place.." He laughed
       softly.

The gentle grip she held upon Gideon's hand remained, as she
escorted him through the palace. Servants and nobles alike bowed
when she passed, speaking pleasantries to their ruling monarchs.
Melanie shared but a smile with them, speaking once of twice,
but did not stop for even a moment. The destination she had in
mind was rather important, and she wished to cement the bond
       between herself and Gideon.
Melanie had failed to tell her king one thing, out of fear of
losing him and her life. If he so wished it, Gideon could kiss
her and revert back into a human, that is until they became
intimate. The moment that they gave into each others desire and
took that final step, they would permanently be bound together.
It was that very train of thought that quickened her step,
nearly flying up the several flight of stairs which lead to
       their bedroom.
But Melanie's conscious would get the best of her, and caused
her to pause before their door. Her multiple hued eyes stared up
into her king's eyes, a thick desire pushing the colors to
dance. "Gideon, you know that I need you. I would die without my
king, and you are my king. I may not have known you as long as
desired, but my body reacted to you in a monumentous way. But,
are you certain this is what your heart desires? Do you wish to
be my king for the rest of your life? If you do, then take me in
this room," Melanie pointed toward the door, "and take me as
yours. If you do not, than all that is required is a kiss. A
kiss and you would be human again, but lacking any memory of
this day. You would be a human again and I," she shuddered
slightly, "would be forced to marry Balthazar. So which do you
choose?" Melanie stared up at her king with longing in her eyes,
her back resting against the door."

Gideon was still in awe from everything that he was seeing. The
palace was quite indescribable in its beauty and majestic in its
own way. Never had he seen anything like it. He smiled and bowed
at the people that were passing by, unable to answer any of the
questions that they had posed to him. Being with Melanie only
for a short time, hours at best, he was not able to tell them
much since he didn't know her that well in the first place. He
still felt amazed about everything. He was going to be a king.
This was something he would have never thought possible. The
idea is still somewhat unreal to him. He felt it strange that of
all the people she could have chosen to be her king, Melanie
       settled for him.
Gideon didn't feel special in any kind of way. He was just
another mercenary trying to make his coin. While being only one
of the few remaining Blackstone Knights apart from his mentor
and Damien, he was still just another mercenary with nothing
special about him other than his size and brute strength. Gideon
felt honored that Melanie would choose him as her king but still
was a bit confused and uncertain about the idea. Was he really
ready to become the leader of an entire race he never knew
       existed?
As they walked up the stairs, Gideon found Melanie to be in a
bit of a hurry. This confused him. Was she trying to get away
from the politics of ruling a kingdom? Standing outside of her
room, she explained his options. Gideon began to think for a
moment. "Live on as a human..." He had said, but this was not
his decision. His mind had already been made up back in the
forest and he was not about to give all of this up. "Melanie,
you are giving me an option to choose when you didn't have
to..." He pulled her closer to him. "When I allowed the
transformation to take place, I had already given myself up to
you. I am forever yours, my queen. And, I will defend you with
my life." Gideon smiled and began to kiss her deeply, opening
the door to her room and taking her inside, happily taking her
up on the offer of being her King.

The thoughts in her king's mind were evident to her, their bond
giving her more insight than she previously had. Melanie
sympathized with his lack of understanding as to why she had
chosen him; but to her it was a simple matter, she needed him.
The manner in which her body had reacted to him proved this; by
the strong electrical currents and emotions that assaulted her
body when she first touched him.
Her father had spoken of such a bond, one that all beings
searched for but rarely found. Melanie, herself, remained
astounded that she had found the one being she was destined to
be with. The kisses that she shared with Gideon ignited a fury
with her, a burning desire full of love and wanting; which is a
far different reaction to the one and only time she had kissed
Balthazar. The winter faerie's kiss left her feeling cold and
dead inside, much like the season that claimed him. She had
tried desperately to forget that kiss, and the look of conquest
in Balthazar's eyes, but it was impossible to forget the feeling
       it had given her.
The touch of Gideon's lips broke her train of thought, and
brought her back to the preset. The contours of her body fit
perfectly with his, but the dress she wore stood between her
flesh and his. Her body ached for me, pleaded to feel his
fingers touch every inch of her body. A single thought, though,
caused her to break the kiss momentarily. Melanie needed Gideon
to know why he was her king.
"Gideon," she started breathlessly, "you need to know why I
chose you to be my king. When I initially called you into the
forest, I was bored and was going to play nasty tricks on you.
That all changed when I touched you, though. My body, and my
heart, reacted to you in a way I had never felt before, in a way
only spoken in hopeful whispers among the Fae. I am certain you
felt it, too, otherwise I doubt you would have accepted the
change. I knew then I was meant to be yours, and you mine." She
paused for a moment, to take in a deep breath and stare into his
mesmerizing eyes. "Also, without a king, I would have eventually
withered and died. A Faerie queen cannot survive without a king.
If I had become Balthazar's queen, I would have lived but would
have withered and died within. Summer Fae and Winter Fae are not
meant to wed, but my father had insisted out of fear." She
continued to stare into his eyes, hoping he would understand.
Melanie also chose then to remove her dress and allow it to fall
to the floor, leaving her completely nude before her king.

Gideon did not feel the same spark that Melanie had felt between
them. While he was confused at first, something told him that he
should allow himself to be hers and let the transformation take
place. While listening to her reasoning behind choosing him, he
only smiled and nodded. He was somewhat aware about the history
between her father and Balthazar since he could also read her
mind. He did not relish this power, though. In truth, he would
rather not be able to do so in fear of invading her privacy.
Looking into her eyes, Gideon replied, "I understand. You don't
have to explain anything to me. My decision has already been
made, and I live with no regrets. If it is my destiny to be your
king, then I will fulfill that role to the best of my
       abilities."
Gideon watched as she disrobed herself, blushing lightly when he
got a glimpse of her beautifully sculpted body. Her perfectly
formed breasts and curves. He almost couldn't keep himself from
staring at her, studying her, taking in her beauty. She was
quite the gorgeous woman. Gideon smiled and pressed his chest
against her breasts, kissing her deeply as he helped her into
her bed, caressing her now naked body with his hands and
stripping himself of the little clothing he had.

She stared up at him as he spoke, her smile melting away into a
saddened frown. A tear, lonely and cold, rolled down her tanned
cheek and fell to the marble floor below her feet. This man
didn’t feel what she had felt. The very thought of that crushed
her spirit, shattered her delicate heart. Gideon was not who
Melanie had hoped he would be, her soul mate.
“You’re,” She stumbled over her words, “You’re not my soul mate?
       How can that…”
Her words were cut short by his kiss, and the fire was reignited
within her. Melanie’s soul wept at the misinterpretation of her
body’s reaction to her king. She grabbed at his bare chest as he
set her upon the bed, her lips rising to press heavily against
his. This man was needed for her survival, both literally and
metaphorically. She would simply have to swallow her pain and go
on with life. Perhaps she was not meant to find her soul mate,
but she had thoroughly hoped Gideon was hers.
Breaking the kiss once more, Melanie stared into her king’s
eyes. “Please, tell me you really did feel what I felt. Please
tell me that your body calls for mine as mine calls for yours. I
need you to be, Gideon! It will break my soul if you aren’t. I
made you my king because I thought that you were my soul mate. I
want you to be my soul mate!”
Weeping uncontrollably now, Melanie pressed her lips against his
more fervently. Her legs wrapped around his nude waist, pulling
       him closer to her. She needed this, wanted this moment with him;
but also need him to be what she hoped. Melanie could feel his
manhood rubbing against her, which only served to excite her
       further.
