"Please.. Try to keep your distance...?"
Gideon pleaded, not wanting her to get hurt. As the blade
continued to glow, it began to become clear, reflecting the
light that touched it as if it were made of diamond. He smiled
softly as he felt his vision slightly correct itself, but found
it a little harder to stay balanced as this drained an immense
amount of his strength. He wondered if he would be able to
change Ragnell in the same fashion.
"Diamonds are just heavily condensed rocks, are they not, love?"
He turned back towards Melanie and smiled softly, a red mark
appearing underneath his left eye. He turned back to Alondite,
who's blade was now composed of diamond while the handle and
pommel were made of a sturdy combination of oak and leather. He
looked towards Ragnell, unsheathing the blade slowly, starting
to feel slightly more pain than before, but still able to wield
it.

'He truly had more power that I thought.' She whispered to
herself as she watched him. Very few fae were capable of
transmuting metal, least of all into diamond. Yet, Melanie knew
that his change had not awakened this talent, but that he had
already possessed it. A small smile formed upon her lips for a
moment, sensing his happiness.
"I am happy for you, my love. But do be careful, you are quite
weak."
As her eyes began to close, a burning pain shot through her
back. It was happening in the location of her scar, a perfectly
shaped hand print. Her eyes shot open and her back arched away
from the tree. The man who had caused this was drawing near, as
was another being. Melanie could smell the iron of the mans
armor, as well as the stench of winter.
"Gideon!" She whimpered as loudly as she could.

"I sense it. Flee from this place. I will call when it is safe."
Gideon re-sheathed Ragnell after placing a small enchantment on
the weapon, making it so that no one but he could release it. He
set it down on the ground and picked up Alondite, re-sheathing
the now diamond blade and tying the sheath around his waist.
Gideon then unleashed his power once gain, transforming into the
amalgam of stone and metal as he felt the two beings close in on
his location. He looked back to see Melanie by a tree and
smiled, walking towards her.
"I promise it will be okay. Just go somewhere safe for now. They
cannot harm me. Especially not the one who gave you the scar."
He kissed her lips softly and then walked back towards the small
clearing facing in the direction of the two men who were
approaching. Gideon knew exactly who it was that was
approaching. This man was quite envious of Gideon. He thought to
best Gideon in battle and fell before before his overwhelming
might. There was something different about him this time. He
seemed more eager and fearless than the last time he and Gideon
exchanged blows. Whatever the reason, he would not allow them to
harm Melanie. Not while he still wielded Alondite.

The touch of his lips felt good against hers, and served to calm
her for a moment. Melanie wished the pain would go away so that
she could share more kisses with her king, and perhaps much
more, but the pain was too excruciating. She attempted to grab a
hold of Gideon, to keep him close, but her fingers closed around
empty air. A second whimper left her lips.
“Don’t go, Gideon, please.”
A moment later, despite the pain, she slipped into
unconsciousness. While she was asleep, a memory resurfaced
within her mind’s eye. It was when she was a young faerie, being
only sixteen years old. She had run away from her father, after
he attempted to force a marriage between her and Balthazar.
Melanie had escaped to the forest she was in now, the forest
that was meant to be kingdom, the forest that was now her
kingdom.
Melanie was angry and distraught, and she was certain she would
not marry the winter faerie. She had been alone in the forest,
though; and appeared to be a human girl, a very beautiful and
exceptionally developed sixteen year old girl. Her blue eyes
stared longingly at the nearby village. She had always wanted to
be a human, to live a carefree life as they did.
She had been so lost in thought that she had not noticed the
armored man approach until she felt ill. By that point, she was
too weak to run away, and had to wait until he passed by her.
But he didn’t pass her by. He had stopped and stared at her, and
she could see the burning lust in his eyes. Melanie attempted to
crawl away, but the man moved to quickly.
‘What is a pretty thing like you doing out here alone?’
‘I was thinking.’ She snapped.
‘Tsk. Tsk. No need to be rude.’
‘Piss off!’ She yelled.
‘That’s enough out of you.’ He growled.
The man reached out to grab him her, his gauntlet covered hand
touching the bare skin at the small of her back. She screamed as
the iron burned her flesh, but the man did not relent. He
simply removed his armor, having discovered her true race. He
even laughed as he stared at her.
‘First time ever having a faerie girl.’ He had said, as he took
advantage of her weakened state.
“Gideon!” She whispered, unconscious, “Kill him, Gideon!”

Gideon felt Melanie fall into a state of unconsciousness. Good,
he thought to himself. It would be better for her to not have to
see this. Gideon saw the large ironclad man come into view. He
was around the same height as Gideon and had nearly the same
armor that Gideon had. Gideon studied him a moment and scoffed.
He had not improved at all since they last fought. How could he?
A man who uses cheap tricks to win battles doesn't deserve to
harness the true power of the Blackstone Knights.
"I see you brought a friend this time... Are you truly that
terrified of me, Balthazar?"
Gideon laughed at the man and looked over to his new friend.
"....And, you... I thought you were better than this. You truly
are pathetic if you are still holding such a grudge against me."
"Hah! You may have bested me once, Gideon, but not this time. I
am here to personally see that you do not walk out of this
forest alive!"
Gideon secured Alondite to his sheath, and the sheath to his
waist. Things were about to get interesting for him and he was
not about to lose his new weapon in this battle. He took a
fighting stance, hands clenched in fists as an crimson-orange
aura surrounded his body, his muscles overflowing with power
now.
"Heh... You're a bigger coward than I thought, Damien. You're a
disgrace to the Knights. You can never defeat me! RRAAAAGH!"
With a heavy blow to the ground, Gideon sent a shock wave of raw
energy straight towards the to men, the wave traveling along the
ground. Gideon was more full of fight now than he had ever been.
At his current level, he would not be bested by either men, no
matter how powerful they were.

Melanie began to stir, the pain having receded partly. Her eyes
opened partially, enough to see Gideon conversing with Balthazar
and the knight. The knight’s presence made her entire body
tremble with fear, the memory still replaying with her mind. And
though she had been fae, this human man had taken her innocence
from with her. Anger and hatred began burn within her veins,
matching the intensity of the burning pain at her back. She knew
he would do it and that he could feel her emotions; but to
reinforce his motivation, she projected the image of the knight
ravaging her young body.
“Kill him, Gideon. Kill that man for what he did to me!” She
yelled weakly.
However, she was confused that he and Balthazar were capable of
standing so close to the man without feeling ill. She was
dancing with unconsciousness by the mere presence of the
poisonous metal, and they stood as if it did not affect them.
Melanie had heard of magic’s that protected faeries from the
lethality of iron, but she did not know them; and she did not
believe that Gideon did either. But perhaps she had created a
new type of faerie, when she granted his wish, which was not as
horribly affected by iron. She still worried about her king,
though, and would do so until the two intruders left her
kingdom.
“Stay safe, my king. Remain whole and intact, and allow us to
consummate our union properly.” She whispered, a wistful smile
playing upon her lips.

Watching as they both dodged the wave, Gideon went after
Balthazar first, dashing straight towards the man and dealing a
heavy blow straight to his left cheek which sent him flying
through one of the trees. Damien attempted to take this
opportunity to strike, drawing his weapon and attempting to stab
Gideon. Seeing this, he took a slight step to the side to avoid
the blow and countered with a reverse elbow to Damien's helmet,
cracking it as he staggered back. Gideon laughed at his pathetic
attempt.
"Really, now... Is that truly all you're capable of..? Trying to
blind side me? It didn't work for you the first time, Damien...
You are far too predictable."
Gideon smirked as he watched Damien remove his helmet, revealing
his jet black hair and pale skin. The scar upon his left eye
from the battle he last had with Gideon.
"You cocky bastard.... You will pay for this!"
Damien shouted and used his own transformation which was similar
to Gideon's but his skin turned black and jade. Putting his
sword away, Damien decided to use only his fists. The men dashed
toward each other and began hammering away, blocking and dodging
each other's blows with such speed and precision that it was not
visible to a normal human.

She watched her king through partially open eyes, worrying about
him deeply. Melanie felt helpless though, her body still weak
from the iron nearby. This was the one aspect she completely
hated about being a faerie. If she weren’t a faerie, she
wouldn’t be incapacitated while watching her king. The anger
burned deeper in her, and she began to lose the feeling in her
limbs. Her desire to help Gideon was driving her crazy.
“Gideon.” She whispered.
The power flowing from Gideon empowered her, enough for her to
stand. Her eyes burned into the Blackstone Knight that taken had
so much from her. With a sharp intake of breath, Melanie’s wings
flared out and began to radiate an array of colored light.
Maroon, crimson, and teal; the colors changed without a logical
order. As each second passed, the lights moved through her wings
and into her arms, and began to radiate from within her palms.
With a loud clap, Melanie yelled at all surrounding her.
“Leave my kingdom now! I will not have you attacking my king,
and destroying my lands! Leave now, or suffer fates the likes
you could never imagine!”

As the two men exchanged blows, Gideon soon gained the upper
hand after Melanie had gained the power to rise and threaten
Damien. After parrying one of the blows, Gideon countered with
his own left cross and then a right roundhouse kick to Damien's
face, which immediately knocked him down. Gideon smirked down at
him, pointing towards him.
"You will listen, and listen well, Damien... I do not find
pleasure in taking a life.... But, if I find you near my queen
again..."
Gideon's fist radiated with a crimson aura that began to shake
from the amount of power he had build up inside.
"...You won't live to regret it... Now, if I were you, I would
pay heed to the warning my queen has given you. Next time, you
won't be so lucky..."
Gideon turned to walk over to his queen, standing before her as
Damien stood up slowly, blood coming from his mouth and a huge
bruise over his left eye. His body returned to normal, not
having the power to stay in his amalgam form any longer. He
slowly began to walk away, pausing a moment to look back.
"I will have my revenge, Gideon... I promise you that much...
You will not get away with this..."
He spat blood out of his mouth and unto the floor, walking away
in shame after another defeat at Gideon's hands, walking towards
the direction in which Gideon had sent Balthazar flying with his
first strike. Gideon sighed as he relaxed his body, shifting
back into his normal state and taking a deep breath, relieved
that this was all over.

"You were amazing, Gideon." She whispered to her king, still
feeling light-headed.
And he was amazing, more amazing than any faerie she had ever
known. Melanie was happy to have him as her king. She could feel
the strength in him, and it gave her strength; even though the
iron from his nearby sword severely weakened her. Before she
could fall to the ground again, she wrapped her arms around his
waist and rested her head against his back.
"Fix your other blade, my love, and let me take you to our
home."
Their home was magnificent, a palace built within the forest
canopy. It rivaled any human palace in stature, but eclipsed the
simplistic beauty humans desired. Instead of walls of stone, the
structure was formed entire from living tree and precious
stones, sapphire present more than most. Melanie did fancy
sapphire over all other stones.
Sapphire was the her stone, a representation of her royal
lineage. It was entwined within her, so much that the golden
veins that danced across her flesh had begun to become sapphire.
It had only recently started, though, when Gideon became her
king.
"I love you, Gideon." She whispered, envisioning what they might
do when the returned to their palace. It felt good to think of
it was theirs instead of just her own.
