Re: Gideon and Melanie

As the man began to disappear, Gideon took a deep breath and
relaxed, his aura as well as his natural armor fading away
slowly. Once he felt safe again, the rest of his body relaxed
and began to morph back into it's normal state, his skin
returning to the near-pale color that it once was, his eyes
turning sapphire blue again as well as his hair. He turned
around towards Melanie who seemed like she was cowering before
him.
"....?"
He walked over to her and offered his hand.
"Be not afraid... I am no demon..."
A soft smile formed upon his lips, kneeling down to help her up
again. He had hoped that she would not consider her a threat.
While Gideon was known for showing no mercy to anyone, he did
not mindlessly engage in combat unless it proved beneficial to
him in some way. He was interested in fighting a faerie in order
to gauge his own strength against an opponent he knew nothing
about. He was fairly certain that he would eventually be back
again, and Gideon looked forward to that moment.

She stared at the man and his outstretched hand. His
transformation seemed effortless, and happened in an instant.
And though he looked as he once did, her fear did not melt away
as it should have. Her eyes carried accusations within them, her
face tightening with mild anger. He was more than he had said he
was.
“You are a demon! You are not human! I have never met a human
capable of such things, and I have seen many humans.” She was
nearly yelling, but her voice was still heavy with fear.
The faerie stood without the man’s help and stared down at the
kneeling him. She began to dive into his mind, searching for
answers. The effort became evident upon her soft face, still
riddled with fear, and she came up with nothing. He had managed
to put barriers in place that she was unaware of, barriers she
didn’t know he was capable of.
Melanie quickly began to pace back and forth, searching her mind
for answers. She had lived a considerable amount of time, nearly
a century, and she had never dealt with such a presence before.
‘A Dybbuk? How hadn’t I noticed that before?’
Her pacing stopped without warning, and her angered gaze turned
to him. The anger within her slowly burned away her fear, and
she pointed a finger at the man’s chest. She would find out what
he truly was, or it would be the death of her.
“You are a demon, aren’t you? Tell me the truth! Dybbuk’s are
dangerous, and kill mercilessly. And I could tell that you
wanted to kill Balthazar. I could tell that you also wanted to
kill me at one point. What drives you, Gideon? What keeps you
from becoming my king?”

Gideon watched her as she paced back and forth. He could not
understand why it was so hard to believe he was human.
Considering the events that had just taken place, he also
understood where she was coming from. Many have deemed him to be
a demon of some sort, but such powers exist only in certain
humans who are able to wield it and train for it. Being that he
is only one of the few Blackstone Knights in existence, he then
understood why she couldn't believe that he was human.
"I am a human... Nothing more... I am what is known as a
Blackstone Knight...."
He looked away a moment, staring off into the depth of the
forest where the man who attacked them disappeared towards. If
he were to attack again, Gideon had to be prepared. He looked
back towards Melanie who was now questioning him to no end. He
shook his head at her question of whether or not he was a Dybbuk
and what they are.
"I know not what a Dybbuk is... But, I do not take life for
pleasure... I am only a mercenary. I kill only when necessary.
Becoming King is not something I want. Being a King means
nothing to me."

With a wave of her hand, Melanie began to explain what a Dybbuk
was. “A Dybbuk is a very nasty demon of unknown origins. They
particularly like to eat faerie wings,” She gestured towards her
back, “but it would kill the faerie as w….”
She paused again, is statement finally registering within her
mind. A Blackstone Knight he was. The name taunted her memory,
her eyes narrowing upon the man slightly. Her fingers gently
closed around his chin, lifting it slightly. Melanie’s gaze
burned into his and her fingers tingling from the contact with
his flesh. Her knees began to weaken again, but she managed to
remain standing. She wanted this man, her body and soul needed
this man to be hers, to be her king.
“A Blackstone Knight? I have heard of them, but only small
whispers here and there. They wear heavy armor and carry an
assortment of iron weapons.” She cringed at the thought of iron,
“They are merciless in battle, holding back for no one.”
A horrid memory still taunted her, one that was associated with
the name. A scar on her hip began to itch softly, annoying her.
It was the only scar upon her otherwise flawless body, a burn
caused by iron. She remembered how it happened, though it was
when she was much younger. A man, human of course, touched her
with a gauntlet-covered hand, burning her soft flesh beyond
repair. She had nearly died, and would have if her father had
not been nearby.
It was then she remembered why she knew the name. It had been a
Blackstone Knight that had burnt her, nearly killed her. The
anger she currently felt burned much hotter, but she did not
unleash it upon Gideon. If he was indeed human, he wouldn’t have
been alive all those years ago. After a soft caress, she
released his chin and turned to stare into the forest.
“You are misunderstanding what I mean. A faerie king is not
similar to that of a human king. Yes, you would be royalty and
command faeries, but you are free to act and do as you please.
We faeries are not bound by such conscious decisions as humans
are.” She turned and stared at him, a mischievous grin upon her
lips. “We are tricksters by nature, and enjoy it quite a bit. In
fact, I had intentionally meant to play with you, mess with you,
and cripple your mind. But now,” Her grin vanished and her face
softened. “I cannot possibly think of doing such a thing to you.
I need you, Gideon.”

"We do not expect mercy, and as such, we fight without showing
restraint.... But, we are not limited by common ideals. Each of
us is independent. The only common trait we share is our thirst
for power, as well as the power that we already wield. How we
choose to use such power is a different matter altogether. I
have chosen only to use my power to test myself against greater
opponents. Nothing more."
Gideon stood up as he explained to her some of the traits of a
Blackstone Knight. He winced as he began to feel a slight pain
in his body. His transformation state kept his body from
changing into a faerie for the time being but he was no
struggling to keep the change from occurring. Because he was
human, he could wield the power he currently possessed with
ease. If he were to lose his humanity, he could quite possibly
lose his power as a Blackstone Knight.
"I cannot be your king. At least, not as a faerie... Should my
body accept the transformation, I may very well lose the power I
currently wield, and that is something I cannot allow..."
One arm held his stomach as his body continued to fight
internally to remain human for the time being until he could
figure out what he needed to do.
"...But, it would seem as though I may no longer have an option.
I am struggling to prevent this transformation, but I am not
sure for how long I can hold it off..."

The scar on her back continued to itch, but she did her best to
ignore it and listen to him speak. She wanted to understand why
he was fighting the transformation, why he feared it. Melanie
had not been able to discern it from his mind and really needed
to know.
“Oh, Gideon.” She whispered and stepped up to him and rested her
head upon his chest. “You wouldn’t lose your power that I
promise. I will grant that one wish to you. I am not lying to
you, I cannot lie.”
Her eyes moved to stare into his, her hands pressed against his
firm chest. She could feel the transformation attempting to take
a hold upon him, to change him into her king. Melanie tried to
be reassuring and comfort him, to help him through the
transformation; but she feared that he would get angry with her,
because this was her fault.
“Don’t fight it, Gideon. The more you fight it, the more it will
hurt. I swear on all that I am that you will be as you are now,
just as a faerie king instead.” She pressed her lips to chest,
his flesh feeling warm beneath them. His temperature was rising,
and that scared her more.

Gideon listened to her a bit longer as his body still fought to
prevent him from transforming. His body began to release a warm
aura, holding the transformation at bay for a little longer
while he thought about what to do next. Melanie seemed certain
that Gideon would only become a faerie in name but would retain
who he is now. This still scared him but also intrigued him. How
would his body be affected and how would his powers change?
Would he gain more? Would they be modified? He became more and
more curious by the second.
"Hmm....."
Gideon was not angry with her about forcing his transformation.
In fact, he began to think about thanking her. He felt something
strange inside of himself after he felt her lips press to his
chest. After considering the possibilities, he decided to let it
happen.
"Okay... I won't fight it..."
Gideon smiled at her and allowed his body to accept the
transformation. The aura surrounding him disappeared and he felt
pain for a while before it subsided. He took a step back from
her as his body shifted slightly but only internally.
Externally, his hair began to change from blue to white and his
eyes became an icy silver with a slight glow to them. The evil
aura that had once emitted from his body vanished and the rest
of him remained the same. He felt a warm sensation inside of
him. Looking at his hands, he began to wonder.
"What happened....?"

A smile bloomed upon her lips as she watched the man's
transformation. The pain he felt was unknown to her, having
being born as fae, but she understood that it would be
excrutiating. A body that changes it's entire structure, bone
and all, would most certainly bring extreme pain. Melanie truly
hoped he would not hate her for causing this.
The swirling hues of her eyes took in every aspect of him as the
change completed. The white hair, silver eyes, and the veins of
silver that danced across his flesh. She frowned at the absence
of golden veins, but quickly remembered only those born into fae
royalty possessed this.
The change had taken its toll upon Gideon, that much she could
see. Without hesitation, Melanie wrapped her arms around his
waist and stared up into his mesmerizing eyes. This was her
king, as well as her confidant and love if he wished it so. Her
hands brushed his cheek, wiping sweat matter hair out of his
face.
"You have become a faerie, Gideon, and my king. You are still
the man you were before; with the same emotions, goals, and
personality. Only your species has changed, nothing else; well
except you are stronger and faster than you previously were."
Her smile spoke volumes at this moment, broadcasting her
overwhelming joy. She stood upon her toes and kissed him then,
whispering against his lips. "You and I have a bond now, one
many creatures only dream of having. You can sense my emotions,
my wants, and my thoughts, and I can sense yours. You will know
when I am hurt, where I am, and discern the presence of those
around me. We were made for one another, that is why we will
feel such things. That, and you are my king, and the bond comes
with being as such."
Melanie pressed her lips against his once more, then broke the
kiss and retreated back a step. Her eyes devoured the whole of
him once more, her teeth tugging upon her lip. A thought moved
through mind, though, that destroyed her happiness. She had
forgotten about his swords, two blades she had sensed was
difficult to separate with.
"Gideon, you cannot seek out your blades or armor. They are made
of iron and steel, and will kill you if you touch them for even
a short amount of time." The scar on her back began to itch
again. "Being near them will weaken you, make you feel nauseated
and ill. I am so sorry." And she was, her heart hurt with the
thought of him losing his precious blades.

Upon feeling her lips press against his, he returned the kiss
gently, smiling softly against her lips. His mind was now lost
in thought. He had began to wonder what he would do now. As her
new king, he no longer had need to be a mercenary. He could
still feel his demonic power within him. This scared him
slightly. He possessed both the power of a faerie king as well
as the power of the Blackstone Knights. He wondered how much his
powers have enhanced but then was stung by a thought that he
didn't consider before allowing his transformation to take
place.
"Alondite... Ragnell... What have I done...?"
Being kissed again, he tried to hide his sadness, but knew that
she would still feel it. Her words did not comfort him much, but
he couldn't give up on just abandoning his prized treasures. A
thought came across his mind about how he would be able to wield
such weapons again but he wasn't sure if he could pull it off.
Before long, he turned towards the direction of his weapons.
"There is something I want to try...."
He began walking towards the blades, feeling them much closer as
he walked. His body began to feel slight pain from the presence
of the metal but he would not give up so easily. As he
approached the weapons, he morphed his hands into the amalgam of
rock and metal from his power and placed his hand upon the
handle of Alondite. He felt no pain from it, no burning
sensation yet. Unsheathing the weapon, he stared at the blade a
moment, his vision becoming blurry from the presence of the
metal. With his other hand, he ran his finger down the blade as
it began to glow a white hue.

Melanie followed her king, staying a short distance behind him.
It was not difficult to figure out where he was going, or what
he was after. She also knew that she would not be able to stop
him, not with words or actions; but she still made a valiant
attempt to do so, most of which involved tugging on his arm and
pleading with him.
"Gideon, you don't understand! It will kill you! Iron and steel
are poisonous to us." She did not want to lose her king after
just finding him, and she did not want to die either.
The closer they moved towards his weapons, her body began to
tire. Her arms and legs became heavier and much more difficult
to move, and her thoughts began to scatter. Melanie had to hold
onto her king just to remain standing. But what troubled her
clouded mind was that Gideon was not being as affected as much
as she was.
"Gideon, I don't feel so well." She whispered, but she knew his
mind was set on his blades.
And she watched him as he picked the first blade up while she
stood back, leaning against a tree. Her knees trembled from
holding her upright, her palor a pale white. Cold sweat was
forming upon her forehead and dampening her hair.
"What are you doing Gideon? You're going to die if you do that."
Her voice was but a weak whisper, as she slid down the tree and
fought to remain conscious.
