       Gideon and Melanie
       By: xblazer755 Date: April 19, 2013, 9:26 pm

It was just another day for this mercenary. The man that many
have come to fear. Not because of his reputation or anything of
the sort, but rather for his size and aura. The man was
considered to be one of the elite mercenaries to hire when one
needed a tough job to get done. He didn't really care about the
difficulty. He loved to take the hard jobs that no one else
would take. Slaying giant creatures was his forte. The man was
covered in armor from head to toe. Everyone wondered how it was
possible for a human to move about so freely when carrying such
heavy equipment. He didn't care. The armor he carried with him
did it's job, and he didn't mind the heavy weight of it at all.
At his side at all times were his two trusted companions,
Alondite and Ragnell, his prized dual swords. One had a white
blade, gold handle while the other had an orange blade, black
handle. It is said that he could not be separated from these
weapons. No one has ever seen him with out them and he treasured
his weapons greatly. They were gifts from his mentor and he
could not be without them. He walked into the local tavern of
the town he was in to see if they had anymore work lined up. His
only source of income was mercenary work but he was never short
on coin, and maintained himself with hunting and gathering food
       whenever he needed it.

Eyes of blue, as deep as the ocean, watch the village with great
interest. They zoned in upon the knight, and the heavy iron
armor he wore. A painful shudder moved through the small frame
of the faerie, whom the blue eyes belonged. The mere thought of
touching the iron was painful and caused her to whimper. But she
would have the knight, though, and do with him how she saw fit.
The faerie would wait, however, at the edge of the forest. She
would call to him sing a song for only his ears. And should
others happen upon her, a faerie they would not see but a young,
beautiful woman. A glamour was inplace to hide her nature, her
true appearance; though, she was just as beautiful, but in a
       more natural, unearthly manner.
"Come to me knight, oh mercenary of might. Follow my voice to
the forest, hear the lines of my chorus. Leave the tavern, come
to me, and live a life free." The faerie's voice heavenly,
serene, and held an intoxicating spell. Any who heard the song,
if directed towards them, would fall pray to its lure and
succumb to her will. "Come to me, Gideon."
The faerie need some fun, some excitement, something to occupy
her. She also needed a king or else she would slowly fade away.
Her sanity would be the first to go, followed by other portions
of her beings. For now, she kept a firm grasp upon herself, but
how long that would last was uncertain.

Gideon turned to the side a moment, his right hand on Alondite
the blade on his left sheath. Something called for him, even by
name. He felt this strange presence calling to him, enticing
him. He relaxed and looked towards the bartender who was
attending him. Taking a small piece of paper from the man, he
placed it in a small pouch and hid it inside a small space in
his chest armor. Once he was done with his business there, he
walked outside and looked around a moment, his right hand
resting on the pommel of Ragnell, the blade in his right sheath.
The voice echoed in his mind a moment. A lovely, melodious sound
that could not be compared. He became slightly confused at
first, not entirely sure how to react to such a thing. Stepping
out into the road, he walked towards the forest at the edge of
the town. Something is amiss here, he said to himself. No one
knows me by name here... Who calls to me...? His cape flowed
behind him as he walked towards the thick forest ahead of him,
       unsure what to expect.
       "Hmm..."

"Come now, Gideon, you are not looking hard enough."
With a quick flash of movement, the faerie moved deeper into the
forest. She wanted to play, wanted to have fun, and do with this
man how she pleased. But, she would have to get him remove his
armor and discard his blades. The scent of iron was pungent in
the air and buried the faerie’s nostrils. She scratched at her
throat as she moved deeper, in an attempt to lure him in and
       remove the poisonous iron.
“Leave your armor, leave your blades. Safe with me, you will
       stay.”
As she moved deeper, into a small clearing shrouded by
underbrush, her body began to broadcast extravagant lighting.
The colors swirled and danced, undulating and moving seamlessly
from one into the next. Gold. Silver. Magenta. Turquoise. Topaz.
The changes were not constant, and carried no logical order,
       much like the faerie she.
A tree trunk rested in the center of the clearing, with which
she used as a seat. Her blue eyes watched the direction from
       which she had come. He would follow, of this she was certain;
but would he leave behind that which would kill her. Only time
would tell whether she might live and die by this knight’s hand.
“Hurry! Come! Leave your armor! Come to me! Please.” Her cries
became pleads, her want for fun driving her.

Hearing the voice once again, he stopped a moment. Leave your
armor and blades behind, said the voice to him. This he could
not do. At least, not his blades. He did not need his armor, but
his blades never left his side. Looking around, he wondered why
this voice continued to call to him. As if to play this game
that he found himself in, he started by removing the helmet he
had on, revealing a near-pale face with blue hair and icy blue
eyes. His skin was nearly flawless except for the color and his
hair was short and neat, almost long enough to cover one of his
       eyes.
Little by little, he removed his armor, setting it down beside
him. First the pieces of his shoulder, then arms. Then the legs
and chest armor. He now stood shirtless with black pants and
boots, still carrying his twin blades with him. He clenched his
fist, a crimson orange and black aura surrounding it as his skin
began to morph into rock and metal, then relaxing the muscles in
his fist as his hand slowly turned back to the near-pale flesh
       it possessed.
       "....."
He looked up towards the direction of the voices echo and began
to follow suit once more, leaving only his armor behind.

“Yes, come to me, my knight.”
The faerie called out seductively, her voice only audible to the
man. The smell of iron still met her nostrils, but it was not as
pungent as before. Yet, she knew the iron carried within the
man’s weapons would stop her heart in an instant, should she
touch it. Her body cringed at the thought. How would she ride
him of the blades at his side?
“Please Gideon, please leave them behind.”
Her words were nearly a cry now, her heart racing within her
chest. The closer he came, the more difficult it came for her to
maintain her glamour. ‘No. No. No. This will not work.’ She
cried in her mind while fidgeting upon the stump. The faerie
gripped the stump extensively, her nails transforming into razor
       sharp claws.
Melanie could hear each step the man took, as if it echoed as
loudly as a bird call. And with each step, her glamour began to
fade away. Her skin slowly lost its natural complexion, rivers
of gold and silver moving across her limbs and body. The
brunette hair that blew softly in the wind began to transform
into vines with magnolia’s growing upon them.
       “Please! I beg of you!”

       "....."
Gideon stopped. The voice seemed to hate the though of him
approaching with his swords. What could she want, he asked
himself. He didn't like the idea of leaving his treasured
weapons behind like this. He was in the middle of the forest
with no one around. Just himself, and what seemed like a spirit
calling to him. Unsure about what to do, he undid the buckle of
his blades, the sheaths falling towards the ground. He
unsheathed Ragnell and Alondite slightly, looking at the blades.
The material of the blades began to glow lightly, one white and
the other a copper orange. He closed his eyes as the weapons
seemed to absorb a little energy before the glow disappeared and
the blades fell to the ground with a loud thud. This will keep
them from being unsheathed by others. He took a deep breath and
looked towards the direction of the voice once more. He still
wasn't sure if he should move onward or just head back.
Something kept him from deciding to do the latter. It was almost
as if he had no other option. He decided to keep moving forward
       for now.
       "....?"

The thud against the forest caused the faerie to cringe, her
hands slowly moving to her ears. But, a sigh of relief escaped
her chest, feeling that he had left his blades behind. She chose
to remain as she was, in her true form, instead of replacing the
glamour over her. The faerie may not be humanly beautiful, but
she held an unearthly beauty that gods struggled to deny. This
very thought brought a smile to her face.
Eyes now of swirling precious metals watched the forest
intently, waiting for the man. Though the iron of his blades was
not a threat, she could feel her heart racing within her chest.
Her heart was craving the fun to be had with this man. The
faerie just hoped that he lasted much longer than the last human
       that ventured into her forest.
“I am not a phantom, Gideon. I am as real as the blades you left
behind. I assure you that you I will not purposely kill you. I
       cannot lie.”
She bit her lip and ran her fingers through her hair of vines.
The faerie truly was getting giddy. An essence radiated off of
the man and moved towards her. She knew that he would last much
longer than her last entertainment. A new thought came across
her mind, and her heart stopped. ‘Could he be the one?’ Her mind
       reeled.

       ".....!"
The voice seemed to be able to read his thoughts. He could sense
that it was not just some spirit. Whatever it was held a
physical form. As he walked, the presence became stronger. The
natural evil aura that he possessed slowly faded as he walked
ever closer to the source of the voice. He was a bit on edge
now. The stranger knew his name, could read into his mind, and
seemed to have a somewhat seductive approach to speaking with
him. He was unsure of how to handle such a situation.
Assuring him that she was not a thread did not help to put his
mind at ease. He couldn't quite put his mind to focus. The
allure of her voice was nearly overpowering as he stepped ever
closer until she finally came into view. She had a natural
beauty to her appearance that he could not fathom. He studied
her a moment, unsure of how to proceed, cautiously approaching
what seemed to be her throne of a seat.

The faerie’s eyes widened at the sight of the man. He definitely
was not human, because he held a beauty all his own. She slowly
slid from her seat and moved towards him, her steps tentative
and cautious. Her gaze devoured his form, committing it to
memory. She wished to remember him as she was him now; yet, she
would love seeing him as a faerie king.
“You have found me, Gideon. I am sure you have questions?”
She smiled brightly as she moved around his body, her fingers
lightly brushing the surface of his flesh. A squeal left the
faerie’s lips, echoing throughout the clearing. The spark that
she had felt hurt, but in a wonderful sense. Her steps ceased,
as she stood behind him, and she continued to stare up at him.
Who was this man? Why was her body reacting as it was,
       especially after just meeting him?
“Who are you, Gideon? Why am I acting as I am?”
She knew he probably would not know the answers, but then he
might. However, she never acted so anxiously around those she
intended to ‘play’ with. Now though, she was giddy and
uncertain, cautious to make a move. With a sigh, she remained
behind him as her wings became visible once more.
“Do you know what I am, Gideon?”
