Five years.. Five long and lonely years after graduating
highschool. Where did the time go? It seemed it flew right out
the window as the now older and more mature Matrix looked
around; unsure as to where anyone was. Of course, after the
various run-ins with the dark skinned woman and the others, he
obviously couldn't stand certain members of their class but that
wasn't true for one in particular; the elf.
'Elora.. love.. Where could you have gone?' He sighed, shaking
his head; appearance not changing much, save for a slight scar
under his right eye and longer black hair, as well as more
advanced tech and greater control of his power. Tilting his
head, closing his eyes, he envisioned Elora. Calling out for
her, his voice sounded much older and more mature now, than it
had in highschool; a tear in his eye as he waited.. longing for
her. "Elora.. be here.." Yet, he'd never shed a tear for nearly
anyone; save, the one girl who caught his heart all those years
ago.. despite that snobbish brat and those other two guys,
useless as they were. "Elora.. where.."

Days had melted into one another, becoming weeks then months and
finally years. And though it had only been four years since she
herself had graduated from that hellish school; she had not seen
any friends in five long years. Yet, it still felt as if it had
been just yesterday that she had met them all. Such horrible and
wonderful days that school held for her.
‘You know, I still miss that sexy Zoe girl, Elora. Tempest,
       too.’
With a roll of her eyes, Elora ignored her brother’s ill-humored
complaints. Their relationship had grown since they had left
school, returned to the more familial bond they had as children.
But Eroan was not at the forefront of her mind at that
particular moment. No, there was another man upon her mind, one
       that she had missed dearly.
She had attempted to remain in contact with him, but failed to
do so when she chose to separate herself from the overbearing
human world. She did miss me terribly, though. She could
remember the first day they met, their first date, and their
first kiss. So many firsts they had shared, at least for her.
Elora had never asked about his past, never pried; only cared
about the future, a future with him.
“Ha!” She laughed, cold heartedly. “What a future that turned
       out to be.”
As the years ticked by, she remained the same, though she grew
mentally. She still retained the appearance of a sixteen year
old girl, though with pointed ears. Her ears had changed, quite
immensely. They now held a well-defined point, as a full blooded
elf would, instead of the slight point they once held; but she
was far from being a full blooded elf in true terms.
When she stepped onto a busy street, Elora paused and turned her
green-eyed gaze towards the tallest building in the city, his
building. They had built a telepathic connection, thanks to
Eroan, during school, and it seemed to partially remain to this
day. A gentle smile slid across her lips as she stared at the
       building.
“I never left, Victor, but neither did you come and find me.”
       She whispered, sadly.

Startled, having heard her voice, Matrix jumped up; looking
around. "Elora.." It came through, loud and clear in his mind.
       Unable to contain it any further, he made his way to the window;
climbing out to the ledge. Looking down, as if looking directly
at her, he allowed the nanotech he'd created to form a pair of
wings so as to carry him safely down when he jumped; landing in
front of her; the nanotech then reforming into the 'backpack' he
       wore on his back.
He knew he'd made a mistake, knew she had a right to be mad at
him if she was, but he also knew the true feelings they shared.
It had been a heartbreaking five years, years he didn't want to
repeat without the girl he fell for back then. If he had to do
that, he figured he'd honestly rather be dead; a cold and
starling but all too true feeling. "Elora.." He finally actually
       spoke.
Looking to her, making his way to her, he took in her beauty
again; always enjoying her appearance. "Elora.. I'm so sorry.
Please, come in.. you'll catch a cold out here." He offered,
motioning to the building; but looking to her. "I've missed you,
more than I can possibly tell. I just hope you'll forgive me. I
didn't mean to do it. I had no way to track you, or any idea
where you went. Please.. Elora.. I hope you can forgive me."
As he spoke, his normally confident tone now relenting to a much
more sincere and honest tune. "I never want to be away from you,
nor apart from you, ever again. I'll do whatever it takes to
make it up to you, I swear it."

She watched him descend from his building, his beloved nanobots
assisting him. A shiver ran up her spine. Her feelings toward
those lifeless machines were a mild contempt, but she never
voiced her complaints. Elora had loved the man behind them. She
still loved him, though she knew her heart had broken.
Silence was her only reply to him while he spoke, and a few
moments after he finished. She simply stared at him, gauging him
as she had the first day she met him. After what felt like a
reasonable amount of time, she waved off his apology and his
offer to step from the cold. Her smile did, however, remain
       firmly in place.
“You knew how to find me, Victor. It is the same way you heard
me call to you just now. Did you forget so easily?”
‘Yea, you idiot! You really hurt our Elora, dumbass!’ Eroan
spat, never being one for holding his tongue.
Elora couldn’t stay mad at him, not for long at least. A deep
breath filled her lungs as she stepped forward and wrapped her
arms around his waist. Her head landed where it always had, upon
his shoulder. Several tears fell from her eyes then, her lips
trembling with sadness. She dared not look up at him. Her
resolve would break even further if she did.
“Why didn’t you come looking for me, Victor? Did you want to do
to me what she did? Did you want to break my heart?” She looked
up at him now, biting her lip. “Eroan still doesn’t like you, by
       the way.”

Hearing Elora and Eroan speaking, tears now streaming from his
eyes, Victor couldn't help but realize they were right. He
couldn't help but accept what had been said, knowing it was well
       deserved.
       "Elo. ." He began to speak, but was quickly silenced, listening;
cringing and wincing. It was harsh, yes, but if that's what it
took, it was worth it; the only thing he truly wanted being
forgiveness, and a chance to make it up to her. It was
understandable that she'd be upset with him, and Eroan would be
as well, he couldn't stop that. "I didn't forget, my power has a
       limit. Plus, my father died."
When she'd wrapped her arms around him, he trembled but quickly
wrapped his around her; trembling as he held onto her. He hated
that he'd hurt the one woman he loved, vowed to do anything it
took to make it up to her; somehow, someway, he would.. he had
       to.
When asked, tears raining down his cheeks, he looked into her
eyes and quivered; grasping her closer, fearful. "I'll tell you
then, I just hope you'll believe me." He paused, for a second,
before continuing. "My father died, the day after graduation,
and I tried.. and failed to bring him back. Then, I discovered
that as a technopath, I was at risk for a technorganic virus.."
As he spoke, he offered them both what he saw.. wire-like
strands beginning to grow from the core. "Well, it turns out, if
I don't find the cure, it will kill me." At this point, though,
death seemed like a better alternative than not being with the
       woman he truly loved.
When asked if he wanted to hurt her, an audible whimper escaped
his lips as he shook his head violently; tears flowing like
Niagara falls. "No. Never. Elora.. I know it doesn't forgive the
pain, but I love you. I'd rather lose my mind than hurt you at.
Please.. I'm begging you.. please, forgive me."
Wincing when she said Eroan didn't like him, he sighed; feeling
defeated. "I know. I hate myself, for the pain I caused you. I'd
give it up, give everything up, just to make it up to you.
Nothing I have means anything, without you. Without the woman
who captivated my heart, so long ago. Please.. I'm begging you,
please.. forgive me. I'm truly sorry. I'll do whatever it takes
to make it up to you."

Elora had every intention of screaming at him. She wanted him to
know he could have found her at any time, but he hadn’t even
tried. She didn’t recall hearing him call out to her in the last
few years. She truly wanted to scream, to embrace the human
within her. Before she could, however, her whole body froze,
paralyzed by what he had said.
“Dad….? He… He died?” She whispered, then screamed at him. ‘Why
didn’t you tell me! I thought you said he loved me! I cannot
       believe you right no….”
She froze again, the color draining from her face. Her right
hand, which had been raised to slap him, moved to clutch the
fabric over her heart. Elora’s eyes burned deep into Victor’s,
only straying from them when he displayed the strange device at
his center. She reached her left hand out to touch it, but
       stopped short.
“I told you! I warned you, Eroan warned you, Victor…”
‘Damn straight! Stupid humans and their need for technology!’
       Eroan gripped, shuddering within her.
“You need to fix it!” She cried, “I cannot lose you too. I have
lost so much in my life, and I would die if I lost you.”
Tears began to flow more freely now, staining her cheek; which
quickly became buried within the man’s chest, her shoulders
shaking with the sobs. Elora was mad at him, yes; but she still
loved him, and need him in her life. She still had to confess to
him what happened before they were separated. Her pride, though,
would not allow her to make such a confession in public.
‘Umm… Elora. If you don’t tell him, I will and it won’t be
       pretty.’

Wrapping his arms around her, nodding as she spoke, he began to
caress her hair; trying to comfort her. It was a hard pill to
swallow, but he had no choice. Victor wasn't sure what he hated
more, the fact that he'd hurt Elora, or that he had no choice
but to have this machine keeping his heart beating.
"I know, Elora.. Eroan.. But, I've found something that may
allow me to fix the wretched condition that made me have to have
this orb in my chest. It's risky, but it can allow me to be less
       metal, more man, for you."
Sighing, he didn't know how to calm her down this time; it
seemed it was going to be more difficult, but he couldn't blame
the woman. "I know I've made mistakes, but I'm willing to make
up for them. Just give me a chance. Please, Elora."
Hearing Eroan, though, he looked to her with concern; knowing
whatever it was, it wouldn't be good. Victor knew he couldn't
let her get hurt again, it would shatter his heart if she was
harmed. Tears streaming down his cheeks, he spoke again. "This
isn't really the best place for talking. Come on, Elora, lets go
inside. There's no nanobots in there, except the ones in the
containment zones on my belt. They won't get out."

A nod was all she could manage at that moment. Her mind was
reeling with what needed to be said, her desire to scream at
him, the hurt in her heart from the loss of his father, and the
dilemma they faced. Elora held on tightly to him, pulling him
closer to her. She did not want to let go of him, not again.
When she finally looked up at him again, her tears had dried.
Eroan had temporarily vacated her mind, having learned that he
could some time ago. Yet, his essence remained should a
difficult situation arise. Elora touched his cheek softly, a
gentle smile resting upon her lips. She had a way of fixing
Victor, but it would cripple her for a short period of time. She
       didn't care about that, though.
"Yes, we do need to go inside. We have much to discuss"
But she did not wait for him to escort her inside. She still
knew the inside of the tower like the back of her hand. Elora
took his hand in her's and started walking swiftly towards the
lobby and the elevators. The mechanism did not take long, and
soon they were in his penthouse, a place she had spent much of
       her time in school.
A tentative step, then another, and they stood in the foyer.
Elora released his hand, touching the elaborate marbel wall. She
loved this place, despite the technology that filled its rooms.
She remember Victor buying expensive, and endangered, plants and
       placing them throughout the penthouse.
He had treated her so spectacularly, like they were not
separated by a race. And she had fallen in love with him the
moment they kissed. But now was not the time for sentiment. No,
shad has something horrible to tell him, and she needed to fix
       him as well.
"Victor, I had a miscarriage shortly after you graduated." Her
voice faultered, and she stared at the floor. "And, I have a way
       to fix your situation."
