Avalon and Kayla
By: -Avalon- Date: March 17, 2013, 11:06 am
---------------------------------------------------------
This old hut that Avalon had herself shacked up in during cold
lonely nights became very useful after Kayla's fall to
unconsciousness a few days prior. It was at the edge of a dense
forest; civilization only a few miles off the beaten path. This
is where Avalon was able to find food and other goods quickly to
help her fallen once love. She didn't stop loving her, she had
to leave.. It was almost two years since they met at the beach
and Ava would keep watch over her hobbling human every now and
then. The change in the woman was remarkable; she was no longer
the shy woman as before, and she even gained some inner strength
and beauty. Sliding her fingers through the shorter dark locks
of Kayla, Ava admired the comatose woman and wished that she
would wake up. She cleaned the woman and even checked her body
for any bite or claw marks; there were a few scrapes and
scratches, but they didn't seem to come from the wolf. At least
she hoped not. She already has a lot of explaining to do,
wouldn't want to have to explain that Kayla was also a wolf
now.. Patiantly, Ava crossed her nude legs and waited. Hoping
that it wouldn't be long now. Her breathing was stable as well
as her heart rate, so it could be any time now. "I'm so
sorry..." She whispered softly, ashamed for the things she'd
done.

Flashes of recent memories passed across Kayla's eyes; of great
monsters that took the shape of wolves, and of a woman. Who was
she? So familiar in her eyes and yet impossible that it could be
her... She, the one who Kayla had spent the night with, fallen
in love with, shared a night of passion with. It couldn't
possibly have been her, turned to a beast so feral and wild. Yet
there was doubt in her mind, perhaps it had been? It had been so
long since she had seen her, she must have mistaken a stranger
for her love. Darkness took over these memories and thoughts for
a moment before she felt the comforting touch of warmth amongst
her hair which brought her to conciousness. Her eyes flickered
lightly before opening, her eyes slowly looking around to try to
gain some sort of idea that would tell her where she was.
Turning her head, Kayla looked around, though as her vivid blue
eyes laid rest on the woman sitting across from her, she sat up
quickly, scrambling backwards away from her. She had no words,
for none could form in her mind, only mixed emotions that she
couldn't seem to place. She was glad to see Avalon again after
so long, but fear crossed over too as well as panic and shock.
And yet... her heart pounded not out of fear, but out of
something else. Kayla couldn't deny, she had missed this woman
greatly, despite now knowing she was... different.

FINALLY! She was waking up. A sigh of content left the lips of
the wolf as her lover finally started to stir and wake up. Ava,
herself, was covered in crusty scars and bruises from the battle
that had ensued days ago, but she didn't leave the woman's side,
she wouldn't and she couldn't. Eye was black, lip was busted,
body was scratched and damaged, but not beyond recognition. She
was sore and achy, but she won the fight and saved her human
lover. But now, now was the time to face the music and possibly
reveal what it was that she was hiding from Kayla. The smile
soon faded as Kayla jolted backward; afraid of her love, afraid
of the one who saved her life, who shared that wonderful night
with. "K--Kayla.." Avalon called out in desperation as she stood
to her feet and nearly fell due to her tweaked ankle. She
reached out for Kalya, inching near her with a hobble of her
own, pleading, begging... "Kayla, it's me.. Ava.. Remember?" She
pleaded. It has been a long time and Ava's hair was
significantly lighter than it was before, though the tattoos
remained the same. "Please.. Don't be afraid.."

Kayla's back pressed against the wall, stopping her from moving
any further. Her wide eyes stared up at Avalon as she stood
before her, memories of the woman mixing between two years ago
and those moments before she blacked out. The sight of her
almost brought tears to her eyes; To see the woman she loved in
such a state and knowing it was her fault tugged at her heart
strings, especially as she seemed to stumble upon standing, but
the reason and circumstances of her injuries kept Kayla's back
pressed to the wall and her eyes fixed on her with suspicion
rather than concern. Finally she found her voice though she did
not take her eyes from Avalon's. "I remember..." She spoke with
a quiet voice as she shook her head, pressing her back to the
wall and sliding up to her feet. She was still slightly shorter
than Avalon, and although she wasn't quite as slender as she
once was, the weight she had gained looked good on her figure,
so she didn't look quite so scrawny any more. "You changed...
you-you weren't you..." She shuffled to the side along the wall
as Avalon drew nearer, moving away from her in the only
direction possible to her now.

The fear that struck Kayla was both saddening and kinda cute.
She expected this reaction, which was one reason why she didn't
tell her in the first place. As the woman crept back, Avalon
kept her distance, opting to let Kayla come to her of her own
volition. Tears began to slowly slide down the face of Avalon as
the love of her life seemed to be frightened of her mere
presence. But, who could blame her? She saw something that she
shouldn't have seen. Something that Avalon had tried to protect
her from. But, to no avail. "I know.." She started, not knowing
what to say, or even how to say it. "We all get like that
sometimes, right?" She tried. Oh, has she tried to lighten the
mood up a bit. But, that didn't work at all. Sighing, Avalon
made her way to the bed and took a seat. "You saw something that
you wasn't meant to see." She said lowly, eyes drifting down to
the wooden floor below. "But I had no choice. It was all to
protect you. Everything I've done was to protect you. From me.."
She mumbled the last part silently before looking up with tear
welled eyes. "Come and sit? I'll explain everything.. Please.."

Kayla couldn't bare to see her lover with tears staining her
cheeks and for brief moment, she had to remind herself of what
she had seen. She stopped inching along the wall, though she
remain pressed firmly against it, her hands clutching at the
solidity behind her as if it would provide some form of support
mentally as well as physically. Hearing her try to lighten the
mood, Kayla shook her head in disagreement, yet kept her lips
firmly pressed together. She watched as Avalon sat down and
listened to her speak, her body relaxing slightly while she
listened. By the time the woman before her had offered her to
sit, Kayla's body had lost its tension and was no longer
trembling. Those eyes, such sadness... Swallowing her fear, she
pushed herself away from the wall slowly and carefully took a
step forwards. Without her cane, she still hobbled from the
scarred muscle in her leg as she had done when they first met,
but she managed to shuffle to the bed. Tentatively sitting at
the edge, she kept herself just out of arms reach. She still
wasn't sure of what Avalon even was, so she would not put her
whole trust back into her just yet. Maybe after everything had
been explained, it would be different, but for now, she would
take no chances.
