main classroom building, and a Commons building that consists of
the Cafeteria, Dueling Arena's and Students lobby

Duel Academy sure was different from the stories Chain had heard
of it from his father. Everyone started in Slifer Red now. Back
in the day, someone with Chain's entrance exam scores would have
shot straight up to Obelisk Blue. It didn't matter though. At
the end of the day it was nothing more than a color, and to be
honest, Chain hadn't made any goals for himself. He had no idea
what he wanted to accomplish from attending the Academy. He
simply had always known he would be there. Unpacked and ready to
spend his last free day before classes began, he made his way to
the commons. There were students gathered in groups all over the
place. And they all seemed to stick with people of their own
rank... It would seem that the segregated nature of the place
was one thing that hadn't changed at all... Chain didn't know
what to expect when he arrived at the Commons, but it was less
than impressive. No excitement. No one dueling, just a few
scattered students, sitting around and talking. A few were
trading cards, but there was no way any of them had anything he
could need... For the time being, he woudl just take a seat and
look around. Something was bound to catch his attention
eventually...

Entry to the Duel Academy hadn't been as easy as Terran
expected. Back home, he was the best duelist around, but here,
he was just like everyone else. All the students here were
incredibly talented. It would no longer be smooth sailing like
it had been with the kids back home. Terran would be the best
though. He had already made it his goal to be an Obelisk Blue by
the year's end. Not only that, but he would graduate the top
student of the Academy. Especially once he got his hands on some
new cards. Surely there would be others looking for trades, and
Terran had collected so many cards that surely he could get
something valuable for them. He dropped his bag off at his room
and headed straight for the Commons with his backpack. The
commons weren't as filled with students as he had expected, but
there were a few kids trading, and he quickly hopped into the
mix. He gathered a few new trap cards, which he quickly added
into his deck, coming up with new ideas with every card that he
saw. Then he noticed the white haired kid who was sitting alone.
He showed no interest in the trading that was taking place. He
must have been truly confident. Either that, or just cocky...
Curious, Terran approached the boy. "Hey, how about a duel? I
want to test out these new cards I just got." He said. His duel
disk was already on his arm and waiting. All he needed was for
his challenge to be accepted.

Chain's boredom had almost led him to head back to his room,
until something caught his attention. The kid with the headband
that came in was different from the others. He was a being of
power. He was surely nothing like these children... But the kid
disappointed him. Running around from group to group, looking
for trades like a kid in a candy store. Was he that unconfident
in his deck? Once again, Chain prepared to leave, but just as he
was about to make it to his feet, he was approached by the one
who had caught his attention. A grin played on his face as he
reached into a box and pulled out his deck, placing it on a
table. "Put your duel disk away." He said. "I'll accept your
challenge, but we'll play right here on the table...." He then
shuffled his deck, and the match began.

The duel was intense. Terran had started out giving his opponent
a tough time. He made it nearly impossible to inflict any
lasting damage, but in the end, he was overpowered by the white
haired stranger. It was no wonder the boy wasn't interested in
trading. He was fully in synch with his deck. Changing it could
throw off the balance. Terran hadn't achieved that balance yet,
but when he did, he would definitely challenge the boy, who had
identified himself as "Chain" to a rematch. He offered the
victor a hand shake, and returned to his trading.

Chain had to admit, the boy who called himself Terran had some
basic skills, but his bond with his deck wasn't complete. With a
shaky template like that, it was no wonder he was unable to
compete. Whatever Chain had sensed upon the boy's arrival was
still dormant. He hadn't tapped into his ability just yet. But
perhaps with some guidance, he just might... After shaking
Terran's hand, he spoke in a calm voice. "I'm in 28B if you ever
want to get some work in. You've got a decent build." With that,
he left the area. He stopped briefly in the cafeteria for a bite
to eat, then headed back to the Slifer Red Dorms. He was unsure
if his room mate had arrived, but it didn't matter. He just
wanted to take a nap.

"You got to be kidding me Slifer red ?They dont see these test
scores ,my dueling ability, the energy I bring to this school "
Back in the day I would have easily been a Raa yellow or an
Obelisk Blue. "This is some bull ,now i have to sleep in motel
type rooms with four people while Obelisk blue members get one
man dorms .The worst part about this is that i can beat most of
them with ease ,why me ..After ranting about ten minutes Rolo
took his time wondering the grounds . There where no duels going
on just a lot of trading and talking about the next generation
of duel monster cards coming out soon. This bored him to the
point he wanted to head back to his room and sleep his boredom
away

Chain could have remained in the dorm until classes began the
next day. These students had nothing to offer him if they
weren't even confident in their own ability. The walk back to
the dorm seemed infinitely long. Slifer dorms were on the far
end of the island. Chain happened to overhear some kid ranting
and raving about being a Slifer. He was different too. Like the
kid that Chain had beaten back in the commons room. He had
power.... The question was whether or not he was able to access
them. He approached the boy around the end of his rant after
listening in amusement for a while. "If you can beat most of
them with ease, why not just do it?" His tone may have come off
as know-it-all ish, but he was truly just offering a piece of
advice. "After all, proving your skill is how you advance in the
ranks." Chain honestly didn't care about his rank. He could be a
Slifer for his entire time in the Academy, so long as he was
recognized for his skills. And he had no doubt that it would
only be a matter of time.

"Why ? cause they see this dumb ass red jacket and think we are
nothing but red rejects .I want a fight ,a war . Someone that
can push me to a point that i sweat every time i draw a card but
these people judge you to the color of your coat. You should
earn the right to where a blue jacket not get it cause you been
here for 30 years . By the way who are you ? "Telling by his red
coat he was also was a silfer red .. "Well I'm rolo, wait i know
you, your Chain . You had the highs scores on the test .. He
beat my score "thinking out loud .He looked at the man for a
minute waiting for a responds

Rolo's frustration was clear, but perhaps it was misplaced. It
seemed he was more angry about being a Slifer than any real
policy of the school. "You just saw my red jacket and still
recognized me for my dueling. There's no reason everyone else
can't do that too. If you want that blue jacket, then duel it
off of someone's back. " Chain hadn't heard of Rolo, but then,
he hadn't taken the time to pay attention to anyone else's
scores. Anyone worth recognizing would make themselves known.
And once they did, Chain would take them out... "Well, good
luck..." He said, as he began walking toward the Slifer Red
dorms once more.
