Roza's grin was wide as he made it known that he was sure he
could out drink her. "I'll hold you to your word, lad." Her eyes
sparkled at the thought of a new challenge, believing she till
may be able to out drink him. It was in her blood, and that's
what her father always told her.
Shane looked pretty cute playing with Jadia, she had to admit to
herself. Her little ball of fur attacking his face was humorous,
only for the fact that Shane seemed to be more into...more
dangerous things. She could easily see him with a large, mean
looking dog-maybe a rottie. They always did look a bit mean,
even if they were the sweetest damn dog on earth, everyone was
still a little afraid it would rip them to shreds. Even lost in
thought about which dog he might look to fit in best with, she
caught onto the way he tensed up a bit at the mention of his
pockets, and while it made her a bit curious, she held her
tongue. It wasn't any of her business what was actually in his
pockets-she had just been trying to make a joke.
At his nod, she bent down and pulled Jadia into her arms,
shooting a grateful smile at him and making her way towards the
exit with him, keeping the girls in the corner of her eye. It
only took a moment for the girls to realize she was leaving and
frown, slowing down their chase. "IO thank god," She muttered.
"I almost thought they were gonna chase me down again." She shot
a smile at Shane. "Ye must've scared the lasses away, eh?"

While walking to the exit of the park, Shane watched the group
of girls out of the corner of his eyes. He could only imagine
how annoying it would be to be followed around everywhere,
almost as though there was no sense of privacy. And for that, he
felt a tiny sliver of sympathy for the woman. Roza was strong
though, and he was sure she could handle her own against those
obsessed crowds. Shane, on the other hand, was finding it hard
to control himself right this moment. They were annoying;
giggling and whispering in hushed tones, and with his sensitive
hearing he could hear what they were whispering about.
“Who’s that guy with her?” “He’s totally hot.” “More like
creepy. He’s probably going to rape her or something.” “Or maybe
kill her!”
Shane’s jaw clenched with irritation and his hands flexed
briefly before balling into fists. He could feel the sparks of
magic pooling into his hands, its mind set on the group of
girls, but he held back. Those girls could ruin his assignment.
If they continued to talk, he would just have to shut them up.
With that thought lingering in his mind, Shane looked over his
shoulder and directed a cold glare at the girls. They
immediately stopped chase and looked panicked. He smirked,
returning his gaze back in front of him.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if I did,” Shane muttered under his
breath, a light chuckle escaping him. He could tell by most
people’s reactions to him that he had this natural intimidation.
He was a fierce predator, and those who came into contact with
him knew it – Roza must be an exception as she didn’t seem to
care that he was completely dangerous and lethal.
They continued to walk in silence the rest of the way to the
nearest pet store to get a leash like Roza had suggested. It was
only a few blocks away, so it didn’t take long to get there.
Stopping in front of the building, Shane held the door open for
Roza, stepping inside after her. The clerk behind the counter
glanced up as the bell rang to alert him a new customer was
there. His eyes fell on Roza and a dreamy expression entered
them. Shane had to hold back a growl that he could feel climbing
up his throat. He pressed his hand to her lower back almost
possessively, sending a glare at the clerk and he ushered her to
the aisle with the leashes.

Roza missed the look he gave the girls, and she grinned,
playfully bumping him with her shoulder. "Maybe I'll just make
you my personal body-guard, pay you to scare all these lasses
and love-struck lads away, yea?"
Roza, personally, didn't find Shane very scary. She saw him as
inapproachable, but, if she were to be honest, Shane was hot,
and his eyes-despite their oddness, were quite pretty to her. If
he threw a smile at someone instead of this look-at-me-and-die
thing he had going on, people would be crawling all over the
guy. But people seemed to want to stay away from him, which drew
Roza closer, made her want to be in his little protective bubble
away from all the giggly school girls and male fans. They were
exhausting, annoying, and while she was with Shane not one
person asked for her autograph. The walk to the store was
silent-even if she had wanted to talk, the Irish woman was
shocked into silence by the way people pretty much ignored her.
It was refreshing, and she found herself unconsciously walking
closer to Shane.
Jadia was surprisingly quiet, just resting in Roza's arms until
Shane held open the door and she could smell the other animals,
which got her tail going.
Roza herself wasn't paying attention to the cashier, and was
slightly surprised when she felt Shane's hand on her lower back,
the heat of his hand seeping through her clothe, causing a
slight shiver. How is he so fecking hot? The thought was almost
instantly wiped away when she saw the look he shot the cashier,
who in turn was giving her a love-struck look, and she couldn't
help the grin on her face as he led her to the leash isle. Was
he feeling...possessive over her?
Roza went straight towards the chain leashes, setting Jadia down
and telling her to sit and stay. She picked up one end of one of
the chains, running her hand down it slowly, letting the cool
pieces slide over her fingers before taking it off the little
hanger it rested on. She held the metal in her fists, sliding
them close together so the chain went slack, then pulling her
fists apart in a quick, fierce jerk to test it. She did it twice
more, quickly, then smiled happily as it held. She usually
avoided the chain leashes, because her larger dogs used to break
them if they pulled hard enough, and it had pissed her off
immensely. She turned to Shane with another smile. "This'll do,
after I pay we just have to drop Jadia off at the apartment and
we can go for that drink."
She picked Jadia back up, walking over to the cashier and giving
him a smile, which automatically started his love-struck staring
at her once more. She was, secretly, hoping for another reaction
from Shane.

A cold winter wind whipped through the buildings. The crisscross
valleys only amplified the intensity of the harsh touch of it.
Winter in New York was turning out to have been a terrible idea.
Though accustomed to cold winters, Kensley had not one in a big
city. Each layer of clothing that she wore did little to hold
back the bite of the wind. Incidentally, she had not packed well
enough for such weather. In fact, a bit warmer weather had been
expected.
To make matters worse, available funds were at a minimum.
Between price of her hotel room and the allotted money for food,
Kensley had very little left for anything else; most of which
had been reserved for a few nights of partying in the infamous
big apple. Such parties were described as fantastic by friends
that had returned to France from holiday in the city.
"J'aurais prévu un peu mieux," Kensley whispered to herself as
she stepped into a store for shelter.

Daniela hadn’t been expecting just how cold New York was going
to be. Her parents were taking care of some business in New
York, and Dani decided she needed a change of pace, so instead
of staying back in California, Dani decided to tag along. The
first day was completely hectic; because she lived in warm
California, her clothes weren’t thick enough to keep the New
York winter out of her bones. The first two days were spent
shopping for warmer clothes, now she had plenty of sweaters,
pants, a winter coat, and a few pairs of boots as well.
Walking through the streets, Dani was jolted alive with
excitement. She loved the hustle and bustle of the city. Back in
California everything was so lax, but New York was the complete
opposite – it was the change of pace she had been looking for.
When her parents left, she told them that she would stay in New
York City for an indefinite amount of time; she may even take up
permanent residence.
Daniela filed into one of her favorite clothing stores right
behind a woman, who immediately stopped and muttered something
in French, a language Dani knew well from her many trips to
France. But that didn’t stop her from bumping into the stranger.
Catching her bearings, Dani flashed the woman a bright smile.
“Désolé, je ne vous ai pas là.”

"Oh, it is alright," Kensley replied, returning the woman's
smile with one of her own. "It is rather cold out, no?" A shiver
ran the length of her spine, despite being within the warm
department store. Evidently the cold had reach father than
Kensley had initially thought. Her holiday was going to be more
miserable as she had hoped, but she still planned to make the
most of it.
Though the stranger was beautiful sight, bundled up in warm
clothing, Kensley had come into the store for warmth and a
heavier jacket. Numerous jackets, of different color and style
lined two of the walls, many of them favorable to her. One
glance at a price tag, however, had her cursing. There was no
way she could afford any of these and still have fun, not
without extremely steep international fees. "Bonté! Ces prix
vont me casser! Je suis désespérée vouée à l'une ou l'autre gel
ou être soumis à prononcer l'ennui pour le reste de mes
vacances."
Saddened, Kensley headed toward the cafe that was inside and
fell into a chair, defeated. Her father had been right, she
should have brought more money than she did, but she ignorantly
chose not to listen. The argument that prices were lower in the
states had been false, as the department store had displayed.
"Je suppose que je vais plier bagage et rentrer à la maison."

Dani nodded her head in agreement with the woman. “That’s winter
for you,” She said, chuckling slightly. She noticed that the
woman wasn’t exactly dressed for winter, much like Dani during
her first day in the city. It was a wonder she wasn’t an icicle
by now! Brows drew together out of concern for the woman. She
was just about to ask her if she needed help picking out a
jacket when she burst out in French. The words she said, though
they were filled with anger, sounded very smooth coming from the
stranger’s lips, as if she was meant solely to speak French.
Sure, her voice sounded decent when speaking English, but that
did not compare to when she spoke French.
Before Dani could act, the woman trudged away to the café, no
doubt sad at the costs of the coats. An idea spark, and Dani
found herself perking up slightly. Casting one last glance at
the French woman, she turned away and rummaged through the
coats, finding one that would look the best on the stranger that
was in her size. She settled with a navy blue coat; it was thick
yet not bulky, and the hood was lined with a thin layer of fur,
it would look amazing on the woman.
She paid for it quickly and made her way into the café with the
bag in tow, heading straight for the counter and ordering two
coffees. Once the barista, a guy who had roaming eyes, gave her
the cups, Dani paid for them and hightailed it to the French
woman’s table, setting the cup in front of her and the bag on
the table. “You look like you need to warm up a bit,” She said
with a raised brow, urging her to look into the bag as she took
a drink from her coffee.

Kensley jumped when the cup of coffee appeared on the table in
front of her. Slowly, she looked up to see the beautiful
stranger standing next to the table, a bag between them.
Curiosity tugged at her mind, so she leaned forward and peeked
into the bag. A surprised gasp escaped Kensley and she glanced
at the woman.
"I," she paused while the surprise wore off, "I cannot except
this, as lovely as it is. I would feel rude, being that I could
not pay you back. I do thank you for the kind gesture, though."
Again, she eyed the jacket and bit her bottom lip repeatedly.
Her father would call her a charity case if she accepted the
gift, good intentions or not. Yet, a large part of her felt it
would be rude not to accept it. This woman had bought the lovely
navy-colored jacket for her, and she was rejecting the gift.
A moment of those silenced Kensley, as she weighed the numerous
options that she had. Finally, she stood and extended her hand
to the woman. "I am Kensley, and I'm on holiday. I may not be
able to repay you with anything of monetary value, Bu I will
find a way to return the favor." A lovely, gentle smile pulled
at the corner of her lips, and her heart pounded with nervous
energy.

A beaming smile appeared on Daniela’s face when she heard the
stranger gasp out of surprise. Of course. Who would expect
someone they don’t know to buy them something? Well, Dani isn’t
like everyone else. She may be gifted with a well-endowed
family, but she would never let the power get to her head.
The smile on her face faltered slightly when the woman declined
the gift, and her brows furrowed as she thought of a way to
encourage her to take it. “You don’t have to pay me back.
Helping you survive this winter is payment enough, so just take
it with a smile and say ‘thank you’.” She said with a giggle,
the smile on her face growing. “It would insult me for you to
decline my gift, and I can assure you that insulting me wouldn’t
be the best idea.” Her eyes narrowed out of playful challenge,
but her words help an air of truth to them. It would be bad,
very bad, if the stranger insulted Dani.
When Kensley stood, Dani stood as well, reaching out to grasp
her hand firmly. “I’m Dani, and I’m here on vacation. You may
think you have to pay me back, but you don’t. Think of it as a
Christmas gift.” After letting go of Kensley’s hand, Dani sat
back down and took a nice long drink of her coffee. “Now, I’d
advise you to start drinking your coffee, it’ll get cold soon.”

"Well, I," Kensley was uncertain of how to continue her
sentence. As much as she would like to decline the gift, she
couldn't be rude. Being rude was far worse than anything else to
her. With a grateful smile, she pulled the bag toward her and
removed the jacket. Navy happened to be one of her favorite
colors, which made the gift all the better.
Still, she felt a bit guilty for not having any money to repay
Dani. Two sips of coffee gave her a chance to think on the
matter. Kensley's face lit up when an idea struck her. "I know
how I can repay you! You and I will go out tonightand have a bit
of fun, my treat!" Excited, she began to bounce up and down in
her chair. Now, she wouldn't have to go alone and have some arm
candy as well.
"We can go to the clubs and have fun, flirt and get free drinks,
then take the fate party to my hotel!" Kensley paused for a
moment and calmed down. "If you want to go, that is. I will
understand if you don't." Her face fell, but she shook it off
quickly. Letting the woman know that she would be upset, as well
as going alone, would add to the feeling of overwhelming debt.
Debt must be repaid, her father insisted upon it.
(Sorry for the bad post.)
