A puzzled look came across the man's face when Deanna answered
his question. "Older?" He chuckled for a second before
explaining himself. "I would have guessed she was a younger
sister. Must be losing my touch." His reasoning for this was the
somewhat protective air in her voice. It lead him to believe
that she was watching over a younger sibling. But she quickly
explained why that was. She had never had any sort of
interactions with her sister, so she was like a missing link
that she couldn't allow to be broken, especially not before she
found it. He looked up to the sky as the woman asked what he was
doing, and laughed once more. "A vacation sounds nice. Maybe I
should take one of those."His eyes settled on the path ahead
once more. They would walk for another hour before the Sun fell
from the sky. "Damn shame. We're not far now." He found a good
spot and dropped his bag on the ground. "Guess we'll make camp
       here."
Rayne took one of the swords from his hip and began hacking away
at the branches of a nearby tree for firewood. He came back and
dug a hole, surrounding it in stones. "Are you hungry?" He asked
Deanna. He had a few granola bars in his bag, and he could
gather a bit, but he wasn't equipped for hunting, besides,
cooking animals over an open fire was like an invitation for
bigger animals to come looking for it. After the fire was made,
he pulled a sleeping bag out from his sack, and lay it in front
of the lady. "Here you go." He would sleep on the ground. It
didn't bother him at all. For the time being, however, he sat
before the fire, poking at it with a stick to raise the flames.
"So what makes you think your sister is in this area?" He asked.
She had to have been following some sort of lead. Otherwise it
was just taking shots in the dark. It was still early. He
supposed they could relax for a while before turning in.

"You allowed your self to make the most human of all creature
mistakes, you assumed. This can get one hurt or killed in the
wrong situation, and I would think one as....battle ready as you
would know that." Her head turns to look up at him after
stepping under a branch that he moved. Yes, Rayne was a
gentleman but there was something hidden about him, something
deadly that he was trying to hide from her.....she wouldn't push
the subject but the thought would not slip from her brain. "So
you are searching for someone as well? And this seems like a
       good camp site for now."
A soft growl answers Rayne's question but the woman shakes her
head. "No, I'm fine. Just a bit of water if you don't mind?" Her
eyes follow his movements, every one calculated before the
action had been fully committed to. "Oh, thank you for your
kindness." Her eyes flit from the flames to his face a few times
before she answers his question. "My sister.....I do not know
what would bring her out here. Just kind of taking random
guesses on which way to go. She has been gone for such a long
time that I had actually forgotten her because what memories I
do have of her, my parents called her an imaginary friend.
Something happened between them and I want to know what
happened, I want to know my sister." Her voice raises just a bit
before falling back to almost a whisper. "Who are you looking
       for here?"

Rayne thought on the woman's statement for a second. He couldn't
say he agreed in full with what she said. He wouldn't say he
assumed, so much as made a guess based on what he had observed.
But then, at the end of the day, he had been wrong, so she
couldn't be completely incorrect either. "Well I am, after all,
human..." He said with a smile. "And yes, I am well aware." he
noticed the growl on the woman's stomach, though she still
denied his offer of food. He decided it best to leave the snack
on her sleeping bag. She would probably eat it when he wasn't
looking. When she asked for more water, he removed his last
container. He poured a bit in the lid for himself, before
       passing her the rest.
It was interesting listening to the woman talk about her sister.
It seemed there were a lot of secrets in her family. Finding her
sister could be the only way to bring those secrets to life. But
with that in mind, sometimes secrets are best left in the
dark.... "I'm an only child." Rayne told her calmly, placing his
blades on the ground gently. "So I can't say I've ever had the
opportunity to seek a relationship with my siblings."
Rayne lay on his back and looked toward the sky as the woman
asked about the person he was looking for. "An old Army buddy."
Rayne told her. "He told me he has something for me." Every word
he spoke to her was true. Of course, there were important
details missing, but what could one expect? It's not like you're
going to be able to explain to someone that you're a government
mercenary waiting for his next assignment. It's best to keep
things as simple as possible. Sleep didn't seem to be claiming
the warrior, so he continued to talk. "Where will you go next if
       you don't find her here?"

She wanders the forest floor of the quiet realm hearing the soft
whispers of a man and a woman. Her eyes dart all around until
she sees the small campfire they have. she watches them in
silence and wonders what they are doing in the middle of
nowhere. She steps a bit closer but not close enough to be seen,
she watches as the man lays down his sleeping bag for her
“Oh how Courteous he is” she smiles as they
continue to talk. She leans in closer so she could hear them
better but steps on a twig it echos. She fears they might have
heard her so she runs off and jumps high into the trees trying
to stay out of sight. with her heart racing she watches the
forest floor in case they may follow her.

The woman takes only a small sip of water before smiling at the
feeling of her thirst being quenched and handed the container
back to him. Yes, this man was sweet but there is was something
dark about him, something that she couldn't put her hand on but
it's comforting in a twisted way. A dark warrior always held
such a caring soul for ones that they do not see as threats or
they choose to actually look after. "Thank you for the water and
       your sleeping bag."
Her heart sinks in the slightest before returning to its natural
position. "Sometimes.....just sometimes its a good thing to be
an only child. The pain of family rejection is something that no
one should ever go through....." Attempting a smile, she watches
him as he lays on the ground and stares into the sky. "How was
it being an only child?" Deciding that it would be a good idea
to at least sit down and rest, she picked up his sleeping bag
and the sack of food on it and moved over to his side while they
       conversed.
After she turned her head toward the sky, she watched the stars
move in their silent dance of death. "An old army buddy. Sounds
like an interesting reunion. Why would he come to such a
secluded place for a reunion?" His question, it caused the woman
to retreat into her thoughts for a second to fully process the
question, "I guess....I guess I will just move onto the next
town after gaining some supplies." A soft shrug passed her
shoulders as her gaze moved from the sky to the fire in front of
them. "I haven't had any leads or anything to go off of. Its
like my sister honestly disappeared off the face of the
Earth...." The woman wiped a silent tear from her left eye,
before she turned her head to look over at him, ready to speak
again before her ears picked up something in the distance. But
instead of standing and preparing to fight for herself, a child
like fear caused her to scoot closer to him, the cool skin of
her hand touched his leg for comfort. "What was that? I'm scared
       Rayne......"

When Deanna handed the container back to Rayne, he put the top
back on it and lay it on the ground. He didn't put it away in
case the woman found herself growing thirsty once more. He
thought about the question for only a moment before answering.
Most people I know say they feel like it would be lonely being
an only child. I don't think that's really true. There's no
competition for affection. All your accomplishments go
recognized. Sure, sometimes it would be nice to have someone to
talk to, but that's why we make friends." Rayne was glad that he
didn't have any siblings or family. It meant he had no one to
protect, and thus, no one that could be used against him. It
wasn't something he thought about regularly, but somewhere in
the back of his mind, he saw it as an advantage.
Rayne thought of the informant he was searching for. In their
Army days, he had told Rayne that he wanted to settle down in a
place like this. Back before the injury that prevented him from
continuing to fight as a soldier. "Honestly I don't know. Maybe
he's on some sort of vacation..." He sighed as a small cloud
slid across the moon. "Then again, it's just as likely he would
       be hiding out here."
Deanna's recollection of her history of searching was strange,
but it only lead Rayne to one conclusion. Her sister wasn't
nearby. People didn't spend time in one place without leaving
behind signs of some kind. Witnesses, clues, something. Of
couse, there was one other possibility. It could be that she
didn't want to be found. It was possible that she had taken
extra measures to ensure that she wasn't found. His thought
process was inturrupted by a sound not too far off. It appeared
Deanna heard it too. But her voice was drowned out by Rayne's
analysis. It was too heavy to be a small animal like a squirrel
or a bird. And it retreated too quickly without being threatened
to be a predator. That also ruled out the possibility of it
being his informant. No. Someone else was out there. Rayne
quickly rolled to his feet, grabbing one of his swords. His hand
was on the handle, but he didn't remove it from it's sheath. Not
yet. "I don't take kindly to being watched!" His voice was loud
enough that the intruder would surely be able to hear it. "My
suggestion is that you show yourself now!" He had a general idea
of the direction from which the onlooker was, and their
distance. It wouldn't take long for him to close in, if his
       request wasn't honored.

she had been watching them. her eyes darted to the man and saw

he spoke out and he obviously was speaking to her, Her hands
were shaky as she thought what to do her mind raced surely if
she didn't come out he would come in and search for her... What
would he do honestly to a defenseless woman. her mind wandered
until she came to a conclusion.
She tiptoes out to them her long black hair swaying in the wind
and her tall slender body inching closer, her feet were bare but
no traces of dirt were on them, her skin was a soft glowing
pale-ish white her eyes darted between the man and woman. she
didn't come too close but close enough for them to see she
wasn't a threat nor wild animal. She didn't speak because she
was a bit on the scared side, trying her best not to show her
       fear.

When the woman came into view, Rayne exhaled deeply. It wasn't a
sigh of relief, or irritation though. It was more like he was
releasing the energy that was going toward facing a potential
enemy. His right hand released the handle of his sword, though
his left hand maintained a grip on the sheath. "It isn't polite

more, and offering her a position near the fire. "I'm Rayne." He
told her calmly. "This is Deanna." He didn't ask the woman her
name but hoped she would offer. "What are you doing out here in
the middle of nowhere?" he asked.
