The Quiet Lands
By: Mao Date: October 22, 2012, 9:37 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The Quiet Lands, true to their name, take the form of a
relatively small and sparse forest. The trees are relatively
well-spaced and allow a great wealth of light to stream through
their canopies, which illuminates the forest floor and allows
for plush greenery to grow on its surface. There are very few
flowers despite the favorable growing conditions - the landscape
is a painting of varying greens, golds and whites. Various
sections of the forest are broken up by bubbling streams and
patches of empty fields, in which many rocks and small ridges
can be found. It is said that in some of the small clearings,
the stones appear to have been purposely carved into elongated
benches or resting places; these rumors cannot of course be
proven, as the surface of the stone appears to be worn down and
smoothed out by only elements and age. Still, this place is
found to be a small and peaceful sanctuary amidst a vast
multiverse - a shred of solace for travelers, a getaway for
anxious lovers, and a meeting place for new acquaintances and
distant friends alike.
This is a quaint and neutral place. As such it is preferred that
any RP taking place here stay on a civil, peaceful side.
Animosity and disease makes for a very unhappy forest, which
makes for a not-so-quiet landscape.

~Tucks a fingertip between her lips absentmindedly, biting on
the end of the nail with a small sigh~
Mm, welcome back, Kay.

Upon hearing the half word variant of his name Kayis eyes widen
as he only remembered a single being who ever used that
informality with him. "Je.." he started but his thoughts were
soon realized as he met the gaze of the Black swirling waves of
hair that seemed to fall off her gorgeous visage in a perfect
mess.. " Jezzabel?"

The barest of smiles tugs across her lips in response to the
soft voice, eyes traversing the distance and catching Kay's
nostalgic golden gaze. As she measures his reaction, her face
molds into the normally amused and playful expression he knew
her for once before. Only her eyes, the palest of sky blue, give
any hint to her own surprise and nervousness. "Kay... you've
grown up, haven't you? I almost don't recognize my old
playmate."

He couldn't believe it if he had tried, It was Jezzabel, the
very same Jezzabel he had met he was barely even twenty of body.
A single golden eye met the sea with a deep unrelenting gaze and
he approached looking her up and down. A study of the best
literature or illustrations right here in pose for him. She was
stunning in all manners of the word, and she too had grown up.
Shadow black tendrils of perfect wavy and whisking hair, the
palest of complexions with the very utmost perfect tan line and
dainty exposed toes with a black set of clothes as well.. He was
stunned by even just meeting her let alone the way shed
developed in each and every curve from that time. "It seems so,
but I'm not the only one Deary," he stated with that contagious
grin that had remained even since his youngest days.. " If we
are speaking of development that is.." he stated with a wink
eyeing her up and down.

In all the years that had passed, it seemed the playful boy had
maintained at least one trait; the outright confidence that
allowed him to gaze her up and down like a snake and relish in
the new developments. His gaze made her squirm as much now as it
did then, and yet, just like so long ago she could hardly be
bothered enough to command his eyes away. Instead, as she lifted
from her stagnant place splayed out over the cushions, her light
olive fingertips started up their dance of threading; the strand
of black lace spinning into ambiguous formations as she looked
upward into his eyes with an amused and equally confident smirk.
"Naturally, and it seems you're still just as bold as you were
back then, admiring women without shame, mm?" She enjoyed his
outright personality as much as it bothered her - in the end,
anything to keep her on her toes, she supposed. "Last I saw you
we were interrupted by a family reunion. So tell me, what has
become of the little sand-wolf I once knew?"

It all came back to him in a swirl of color as he thought about
how they had met in the old Asader Arena. She was attempting his
death, trying to control him like a puppet with her neat little
chord tricks, still though they had developed an interesting
relationship that day. They had in fact came to a point where
they were getting along and understanding each other, and surely
she remembered that. "Last we met yeah, I remember." he sighed
rubbing at the back of his long white mane of hair."As for that
though This sandy wolf no longer dwells in the sand, quite
unfortunately a lot has changed assuredly.." he grinned and took
a seat next to her laying over so that his head rest in her lap.
it was just his harmless playful nature, but it was also to
tease and irritate her slightly. " As for family almost all of
them are dead, and in some aspects there are points where iv
somewhat added on.. The daughter that had interrupted our "
playtime" at that time is MIA, My son... hates my guts, and my
Charming little girl is off somewhere of where I know not." He
settled his head further into her lap propping his feet up on a
rock just shy of his feet and sighed. " and alas the wife I was
pledged to is deceased.. its all so very unfortunate, but As the
Phoenix falls so does it rise from the ashes, and thats my
story and I'm sticking too it." he stuck his tongue out
playfully towards her and then shut his eyes slightly. Surely he
was bold to be this close with those strings of hers, and the
ability she likely had to control him, he honestly just didn't
care if it came to it he would be forced to fight but he didn't
think it would come to that. " Oh by the way just a tad more
relevant.. just call me the White wolfy or so.. if you really
wanna get Technical it would be white phoenix though

Her fingers threaded the string silently, absentmindedly,
without even the slightest thought as to their intentions yet.
It was more of a therapy for her as of late. The repetitious
movements soothed her in a way nothing else could, nothing else
she would allow to. But his movements drew her attention
temporarily back to her hands, which found themselves cast
uselessly to the side as the little devil of a wolf found his
place in her lap. An arched eyebrow was the only immediate
indication of her natural irritation. When she had said his
bold gestures amused her to some extent, that hadn't been an
open invitation to sprawl himself across her... "Kay...is..."
she started, impatient lines forming at the corners of her lips.
But she didn't shove him off or away. How could she, once she
realized already her fingers had taken up the beginning of a
deceitful spell? If it were another man in her lap it wouldn't
have been a problem. But only because it was this childish man
did she force a heavy breath and settle into the cushions
beneath his toned frame.
As she listened to his story, her fingers began to slow their
dance, until finally the thread hung in a lifeless loop around
her wrist. She lifted these now useless hands and rested them
right on top of his head, the smallest amount of payback she
would allow herself for the time. "So you have another daughter,
then? I assume with a different woman than the one you were once
pledged to. Really, Kay..." Shaking her head, Jezabel blew out a
heavy sigh. Lifting one of the hands from their perch on his
face to brush through her laces of pitch black hair, she finally
stole an earnest glance back down to his eyes, seeing in them a
shred of worry and discomfort he perhaps hadn't meant for her to
notice. "Alright, mister white phoenix. That is quite an
intriguing thought, something about you always had blazed like
fire. Nevertheless, it sounds like you've gotten yourself into
quite a tizzy. Any plans on what you intend to do to fix it?"

He stalled for a moment as he rest comfortably in her lap, his
white hair falling all over her legs at that time,a nd even then
he still had that grin. He knew she would get peeved slightly
by all this forward approach, but it was in his nature, he was
lazy for one, another thing he was sporadic and unpredictable.
However as he looked up to her he was slightly caught off guard
when her hands came to bop him right on the nose and remain
there... "Never asked for a hat ya know..." he stated playfully
and licked the bottom of her hands as much as his tongue could
reach. A small bit of laughter played int he pit of his stomach
and then he fell silent, just in time to catch sight of the
wondrous sea in her eyes once more. "A tizzy I have found...Im
not sure exactly what I'm going to do with all of it, as for
your rhetorical question Ill answer yes, It was a different
woman than my Betrothed, however not once was it done when her
and I were together, She lost her life because of my own
foolishness and abandonment, and thats a red zone right there I
know.." he tried his best to push off that notion and think past
it all. " As for Charm my youngest she was born of a Banshee
woman in a drunken stupor..which yes again I know red flag for
Kayis, but the truth is the truth and theres no point tryin to
hide what can't be changed aye?" he made it a task to make sure
he was now looking her in the eyes his head turned just enough
that the task would be more simple than not. "Over all however
as for Kota he.... hes a troubled boy and theres more to it than
just that.. Its not just his hate.." it was a slightly touchy
subject for the old veteran when he talked of his only son and
how the Makers had forced it situationally so that no matter
what they could never have a life together without attempting to
rip the others throat out... " the white and Black Shadow
mark..' he hissed under his breath; a sigh to follow and he was
okay again.. " Anyways what about your life " My little Desert
Rose?" He prodded at her nose with a pretentious finger
playfully of course but enough to draw the attention on her.

The longer he became comfortable in her lap, the more she was
starting to see just how bad an idea it had been to allow him
such a step in the first place. Irritation licked her face just
as his tongue licked her hand, and she gave into the sudden
compulsion to move before her thoughts could catch up. One
minute the white phoenix was talking, and in the next his tongue
was caught in the grasp of her thumb and forefinger; nail
digging in just enough to get the point across without actually
causing him pain. With a raised eyebrow and an amused grin she
leaned down so that her face was mere inches from his, a sly
murmur parting her lips. "Lick me again, my teeth will be
involved in the punishment next time; and not in a pleasant
manner, unless you've allowed yourself to become a sick
masochist in the time we've been apart." She hadn't realized
until after she released his tongue and allowed him to speak
what an ironic threat that had been. Jezabel recalled a time
where her strings danced intensely with the intent of stealing
his body away, and during that time, the irritating bastard
enjoyed it. She shook her head, a little bit in disbelief, and a
little in amusement from her own memories, but merely allowed
herself to fall motionless as he answered her previously asked
questions.
And despite the fact that he was talking to her, she was very
much aware of his persistent gaze on her face, trying to steal
her own eyes. Hearing of his hardships compelled her, just a
small extent, to give him something in return for the things
he'd lost. With this very very small scrap of sympathy in mind
she allowed her sky-blue gaze to drift steadily into his. In
them, her constant lack of hesitation or shyness became very
apparent, especially as she began to speak again in a slightly
softer tone. "Hearing your tales, I almost wonder what cruel
bastard of a god forced me to meet a man like you." Although
normally the words would have stung, her softened voice and
expression made it clear enough she was teasing him. "The past
is the past, and the future is yet to come. Do your best to make
what you can of it and I'll never regret the day I met such a
strong and warm-hearted man, despite how utterly annoying you
can be..." Her last words were perfectly timed to, spoken just
before his finger lifted to prod at the tip of her olive nose.
Clearly his intent was to switch the focus to her, and the name
he called her by only added to the growing pile of irritating
actions that made Kayis so frustratingly charming. "Your Little
Desert Rose," she paused just a hairsbreadth of a moment, as if
to survey the taste such words left in her mouth. Finding them
to be bearable, she continued in a reserved and slightly tired
voice. "has experienced little change in the past few years."
Her words cut off abruptly and unnaturally, but what else could
she say? Truth be told, Jezabel could hardly remember each day
at its end. And often enough there would be extended periods of
time she had no recollection of. Leave it up to a meaningless
life to put a person in such a tizzy of her own, but Jezza truly
had no idea how to explain to the man-child in her lap, who had
experienced so much, that nothing significant had developed or
changed for her. So she simply cast her eyes to the length of
his long white hair; that which was a clear image, and her own
hair the shadow-equivalent.
