Evangeline and Vincent

The red and gold walls of the high class restaurant seem to
absorb the soft lighting from chandeliers and candles. A gentle
tune from the piano in the corner mixes with the low
conversations and laughter of groups placed at tables through
out the room. Evangeline sits elegantly at the bar, glass of
Chardonnay on the mahogany counter in front of her. Long fingers
trace invisible lines down the stem of the glass as her green
eyes glance over the people around her, clearly uninterested. A
soft sigh passes her plump lips before she looks back to her
glass and rolls her eyes. There really should be some sort of
filter on who they let into this establishment. Gently she taps
her perfectly shaped nails on the wood, debating on whether to
stay and finish her drink or find something else to entertain
her tonight. Not like there is much. Most of her friends -if you
can call them that- are out of the country for the week. The
others she doesn't care to contact unless it benefits her
somehow. Evey's body shifts in the plush seat, the glitter in
her dress catching the light.
(Sorry it's short, first time with this character)

He watched everyone, although saw nothing. His eyes Grey and
dull with age. Although he looked young and eccentric he
definitely wasn't a normal person. His suit was a dull greyish
color almost white. His hat matching the suit itself. It was an
olden thing, nearly riddled with age and indifference of other
suits. His hat covered his face for the most part as he made his
way to the bar. His steps careful and quiet. Although his soft
grey shoes clicking every so often. He ignored the constant
laughter and chatter. His eyes rolling as best they could to
show his disinterest. No one would know but, he wasn't there for
anyone. Just there for a simple drink. One night was all it took
to get him done for a week and it so happened this was that
night. So with a light tap on the edge of the bar he took his
seat. Seeing a glint of light flicker over his eye he blinked,
his eyes squinting almost instantly. Looking up and speaking
with a rough Russian accent. "I'll take a shot of vodka, then a
nice scotch and whiskey. Thank ya." He looked in the direction
of the dressed woman and shrugged. Her dress was flashy, too
much for him. As if speaking loudly in a quiet library trying to
find attention. "Well ya see lady, the dress cries for
attention, as does your attitude, but what you really want is
some comp'ny. Someone to listen to your feelings f'r once." He
stopped, looking at the bar and nodding, taking the shot in one
swig and then back at the woman. His eyes and face fully hidden
from the hat that was now down and covering his features.

Evangeline's gaze is lost as she lets her mind wander from the
noisy room. There really should be more to do for a wealthy
young woman to do in this town at night. Other than dinners for
her parents and dry parties. Yet here she is, sitting alone at
the bar with a drink in her hand. She must admit, she does enjoy
a break from the constant company of the rich and important.
Although, sometimes it gets lonely. A voice directed at her
returns her to the present and she looks over. As the stranger's
words set in her eyes narrow. How dare he say such a thing to
her. Evangeline Marcosa is not an attention seeker. "Excuse me?
And just who are you to say such a thing to me?" Her body shifts
to face him but the line of her back straightens into her usual
erect and formal position. "I don't need someone to listen to
me. I have everything I could possibly want." Turning to the bar
tender she opens her hand bag to pay for her drinks then turns
back to the stranger. "Thank you for the advice." Elegantly she
slips from the chair and straightens her dress before taking a
step toward the exit.

With a sigh he pulled his wallet out, paying for his drinks and
swigging the whole drink with one tilt of his head. "Thank ya
again sir." With a roll that no one sees his eyes did so.
Watching her for a second he slowly took her hand and spun her
around. "Now listen here miss Sass. You haven't gotten any less
attention then others in here. I swear to myself that I saw at
least a minimum of eight strapping young gents who were eyein'
you up. Now if it weren't f'r me you'd probably be ravaged by
one of'em now. An let me tell you, I know all o'them would just
love to get a top your body and rock you. So let's get one thing
straight, guys see a woman as a tool. But, gentleman, a woman is
nothing more than a Love partner, a beauty in the eyes of all,
an equal to them in all ways." With a slight nod he slowly shook
his head. "I, am quite sorry for the sudden grabbin'. I shoulda
layed my hands off, a woman shouldn't be touched unless she
gives the say so. And I just don't do well with young lovely
ladies like ya'self who seem alone and only need an ear or a
shoulder." With a nod he sighed, slowly walking past her. "For
the record, your dress is flashy but, your eyes tell that you
are alone, you don't want the attention of just anyone. You need
the attention of a true gentleman. Have a good night Miss." With
a last nod he slowly turned his head again. Taking a few more
steps towards the door.

She legs glide across the floor, tall heels clicking softly but
she is brought to a stop by his gentle pull. The touch seems in
good nature, but Evangeline isn't used to physical contact and
being made to feel as if she is overreacting doesn't ever go
well. His next words leave her blushing and flustered. No one
ever talks to her like that, and for good reason. Evangeline
Marcosa is not known for her kindness. She is known for her
family name and her attitude. Pulling her hand from his she
rests it on her hip in defiance. "I may be a lady but I am not a
damsel in distress." As he continues speaking though, she lets
her hand drop. He does seem to be sincere, and she considers
giving him a chance. It would be nice to have an actual
conversation with someone and it be genuine. When he turns to
leave she drops her eyes to the dark carpet below her feet
briefly. "Wait." Her eyes travel up to his and she sighs. "Lets
walk. We can talk if you would like." She might as well, since a
chance at genuine company doesn't come often. Moving to catch up
to him, they walk together toward the door. "You just caught me
a little off guard. Mister...?" She awaits his introduction as
they near the exit.

His hearing was enhanced, as his steps stopped he turned his
head slightly. Upon hearing her speak, turning even more so his
eyes catch hers again, the dull grey color slowly swirling but,
still moving unseen. Hearing her speak again he sighed, as he
hung his head down slightly again. Continuing his steps as he
turned to her as she asked his name. Without stopping his
footsteps he reached out and took the door handle opening it
slowly and nodding at her to go ahead. His voice again sounding
as he spoke. "Sangrine, Vincet Sangrine." He slowly nodded his
head once again, turning and following her politely out the door
as it closed behind them. Upon exiting he slowly took her hand
again, keeping her knuckles up and her hand in his palm,
kneeling in front of her and kissing her knuckles. "I am quite
sorry for my earlier rudeness, I never meant to imply you were a
damsel. A mere woman would have struck me for such an
accusation, I am quite glad to say I am in the presence of a
proper lady though." With another bright smile he stood once
again, setting her hand back to her side before offering his arm
to her and motioning with a nod. "Where shall we walk m'lady?"
