Johnny's Tavern.
DIR By: TakuraMonimi

---------------------------------------------------------
After a long week of riding and sleeping on nothing but
rock and grass under the skies of the land, at the mercy of the
seasons. The large forest you entered was a welcoming sight,
though you soon realise you wont reach the other side of the
large, unused road that was once probably a major trade route by
nightfall.
You become aware that you are not the only one who realises
this, for in the very dense trunks, deep within the forest and
off of the safety of the road, creatures lurk. Unseen by the
living. Though your negative thoughts on what may happen too
you, quickly diminish as you see a dim yellow light up ahead.
As you near, you realise what the source of the light is a
lantern hanging beside a worn door. The door belongs to a dark
wood tavern, large for such a remote area. Beside it is a rather
shabby looking stables and the actual place seems in need of
renovating. But it's a place to stay.
What will you do? As you gaze up at the softly swinging,
screeching sign that reads; 'Johnny's Tavern' you look back into
the cold gaze of the forest. Will you brave it out and risk
perishing, or will you enter...?
You enter the smoke-filled tavern, the scent of whiskey and love
labours lost hanging thickly in the air like cheap perfume.
Seats scatter the premises, yet spaces are coveted so I advise
you select a place in which to sit soon young traveller, also a
strange misplaced couch sits just beside the fireplace. The
couch should not be there. Flames flicker invitingly as they
engulf and caress the oaken logs that produce a friendly fire
situated on the right hand side of the entrance.
Winding wooden steps, diminishing eventually into perpetual
gloom lead mysteriously to upper overnight quarters. Be warned;
screams cannot be heard by the dead.
Perhaps the most interesting of characters would be the
barkeeper, he'll spin you a tale of adventures lived, lives lost
and victories celebrated. Mystery accompanies courage and
adventure as they lurk hand-in-hand around the
corner...

Lively, it was always so lively in this place. She
enjoyed it quite a lot, perhaps it was because she enjoyed the
livid people that she resurrected the old tavern. Possibly.
Currently though, she found herself agape with her own self
issues. Maybe someone could spin her a tale of curiosity and
vague mystery to cheer her up later. Wait, she wasn't sad? Was
she? No, she really wasn't. She was just distracted. Denial. It
was always something she harbored. Basking in her own hatred for
certain individuals. Perhaps there would be a new mishap in this
place tonight. Another body thrown to the snow. A smirk turned
plush flesh and she shook her head, blond curls falling to frame
her face. Upon first looks, she was quite the beaut. Not
perfection, not even close, but she was cute enough. She wasn't
the ideal height for a female, standing at a simple five foot
six inches. Maybe that's too tall? Didn't people like those
short, cutesy, looking women? Then again, she was pretty much
all legs, so she supposed that made up for it. She had herself
some pretty nice curves, though she couldn't compare with
Jessica rabbit yet. Maybe she'd work on that.
Right now, she was pretty much only thinking on her flaws.
Possibly because that's what people did, they looked at
themselves and didn't see perfection. Unless they were really
really cocky bastards. That was a different story though. She
shook her head once more, the slick appendage leaving enamel to
meet with the corner of her lips. An old habit, really.
Straightening up from her seat, she adorned a simple gold dress
with heels. Nothing spectacular, really. She wasn't flashy. It
was about that time and she knew someone would have to entertain
her customers, else they'd be bored and start their little
fights again. That didn't much bother her, replacing the shit
they broke did. Yet Johnny wouldn't complain about being the
entertainment, she quite enjoyed singing. Especially the older
song style she swooned over so much. slender limbs carried her
onto the stage and she pulled the mic from it's home, beginning
her usual song, Please Mr.Jailer. Oh how she adored this song.
Maybe something interesting would take place tonight. Who knew?

It wasn't curiosity, nor beauty that drew his attention to the
forest, no that wasn't it at all. Hell he has seen many
beautiful forests, and to be honest he was getting sick of all
the beauty of this world. It drove him crazy how every mortal,
immortal, whatever-the-fuck-else-ortal, was driven by the single
most conceited, pretentious ideals of this world; perfection.
No, he wasn't allured by the beauty, but instead it was a far
more sad reason... His heightened, albeit drunken, senses could
smell alcohol. A smirk tugged on the corners of his lips as he
ventured into the woods, "Well, I suppose a quick drink wouldn't
hurt.." He spoke to himself as if someone was nearby, and tucked
a flask into the inside pocket of his vest and stumbled forward.
"Ahh, fuck walking.." He spoke once more after just one step
with a disgruntled face overcoming the smirk. His tired glazed,
blue eyes flickered forth in search of any light sources; his
search being short with the quick find of a dim yellow glow.
"Hm.. Good enough." With a blink of an eye his body
dematerialized from his current position, and reformed where he
had seen the light... And right into a door. Really hard. In
fact so hard that he had to take a few steps back to try regain
balance and not lose consciousness. "So.. That wasn't a street
lamp like i thought it would be.." He blurted out whilst wiping
his nose of the blood that began to trickle.
After a moment he shook his head, and looked around nonchalant
for anyone that might have seen his fail. Straightening his
vest, brushing himself off, and having concluded that no one had
saw, he finally took a step towards the door... But came to a
halt soon after. "Do i knock... Or walk in.. Or is this some
dude's house?.. Uhmmm.." Little did he know that he could end
this confusion by turning his head slightly upward to read the
sign... But alas he is not the same person that he used to be.
In fact.. He had no clue who that person was, or even if that
was just a dream? "Fuck. Me.." He spoke out as if in syllables,
and grabbed his head groaning.. The headaches were back; He
needed a drink. With a graceful stumble forward he pushed open
the doors, uncaring if it was some dude's house, but hoping that
if it were that he had a bar. Immediately each of the aromas hit
him at once, and turned the head ache from splitting to.. Oh my
fucking god i am going to kill the next person who so much as
whispers in my direction. Yeah, that kind. At this point he
decided FUCK being polite, and started to push his way to the
bar, his eyes closed tightly, and one hand about to rip his hair
out; Basically he was doing a drunken Tuscan and 'Followed his
nose!' to the bar. "Charlie!" He bellowed, and this time his
legs buckled from the pain that evolved from the headache.. Why
did he just call him Charlie? And why did it make the headache
worse? He growled deeply, yet just low enough to be hidden by
the chatter and the music, and pulled himself upright again..
"Barkeep. Whatever your name is- Just give me something strong!"

So a drunkard could bring about silence to an old
tender? It seemed that way as the elder looking man turned green
orbs up to the man stumbling across the room to his bar. Had he
just called him Charlie? What the hell was up with that? "Ayo
Johnny.. Should I give 'em a drink? He seems drunk enough as it
is." The gruff voice traveled across the noisy tavern's bar to
the woman on stage. She quirked a brow and snickered beneath her
breath, slender limbs carrying her down the steps even though
she still held the mic in her left hand. Heels clacked lightly
against the floor before she moved herself onto the bar's
surface and shifted in front of the aussie sounding man. "A
little drunk already eh?" She said, crouching down as she looked
at him. He was an interesting looking fellow, didn't seem too
much like one of those psychotic drunks, so she figured it'd be
alright. "I'll fix him a drink myself." Tossing the mic to the
tender, she leaped off the bar and grabbed two glasses. It
wasn't odd for the owner to do some of the bar keeping, not for
her anyways. Then again, she wasn't just giving this man a shot
either.
"He said he wanted somethin' strong. And my name's Charles. You
were close though." He said, shrugging and going off to replace
the mic. Though the fact that this fellow wanted something
strong made Johnny snicker in delight. "Oh is that so?" Pushing
the glasses to the bar, she turned mixed colored orbs to the man
and picked up a few bottles, mixing up a concoction that would
knock a first rate alcoholic on their ass. That's usually what
she did for drunks who figured they could still hold more. It
wouldn't be a surprise if this guy couldn't hold his alcohol. He
looked lanky, some what durable, but hardly enough. Yet it
wouldn't be the first time someone could tolerate one of her
drinks. Leaning against the bar, she slid the glass to him as
that taunting smirk curved plush flesh. One eye a harsher blue
and the other a mix of green and grey. Freckles lined her face
as well as a few smaller scars, which didn't just stay on her
face. Imperfections were riddling her flesh like crazy, but she
didn't seem to care at all, not bothering with long sleeved
shirts and jeans like some women would. Picking up her own
glass, she took a swig and sat down on the stool, crossing her
knees. "So, what brings you to my tavern? Just here for the good
drinks or possibly here for a night?" She asked, quirking a
brow.

Basically all he heard from the entirety of the confrontation,
the questions, and the situation all together... Was that there
were questions and that it was a confrontation. Oh! And that he
was getting a drink. Other than that, he did not care what
anyone was saying to him; In fact he was about ready to tear the
head off the nearest person and beat everyone in the face with
said detached head. He tried not to focus on the rage that was
trying the grow from the pool of pain that had derived from the
headache, but instead just tried to focus on something else..
anything else.. Which so happened to be a force that was slowly
pulling at his consciousness; It seemed as though a cold, dark,
celestial beast was standing directly behind him.. This did not
draw fear to himself though, but instead a certain kind of...
likeness. It almost seemed as though it was yearning for a long
lost attention from him, and he specifically. The headache's
pain began to draw into the beast, and he could almost hear it
cackle in delight.. A broken dialect began to translate itself
into his ears, "We have missed you.. Come back.." The voice was
deep, demonic, and being interlaced with the whispering of the
same words, but by thousands of other voices. The sounds of the
chatter in the bar began to rise, and form all together and
slowly drowned into white noise; It was at this point that his
pupils pulsed, then began to bleed their blackness over the
color and white of the rest of his eyes.. The voices.. The
feeling.. All of it felt homey.. As if reconnecting a severed
bond. But just as fast as it was found, it was broken and
snubbed once more as the glass was set down on the table in
front of him. With a gasp he pulled from the trance as the
sounds, and smells of the bar started taking over his senses
once more; the presence continued to fade. He whipped around, no
one was even close to him.. "The fuck was that.." He asked
himself under his breath, then turned back around the face the
bar seconds later, rubbing at his eyes as if trying to wake
himself up. In all reality that whole scene played out in his
head, and was said and done within a second's notice, and faster
than anyone could have seen. He thought himself to be insane.
"Must have been my imagination.." He finally agreed upon and
opened his eyes; Where the last bit of the blackness returned to
his pupils.
It was mere seconds later that the head ache mercilessly
returned. Hell, if he had less control over himself he would
have buckled his knees so hard that his face would have smashed
into the counter top. Luckily he instead caught himself and went
back to almost ripping out his hair with the same hand, "FUCK"
He yelled out, grabbing the drink that had been poured for him
and downed it. Every last drop. With little more than a quick
exhale to rid the burning feeling of it going down. After a
moment of gathering himself, after the headache had numbed, he
shook his head and slowly let his eyes move towards the woman
that was seated beside him, and looking at him as if waiting for
an answer. "Uhm.. Hello, darling. Did you uh.. Ask something?"
He questioned whilst titling his head, the Australian accent
thickly layered into the sentence.

Darling? The word caused her eyes to narrow as she had
sat there observing the male. He certainly was a strange one
indeed. Sniffing at the air for a moment, she shook her head and
looked off to the side. "Feh.." She hated that damnable word,
darling. She knew it was sort of a habit for most though, so she
usually let it slide the first time. "Don't call me darlin',
alright? And yeah, I asked ya somethin'." Looking to him, she
smirked a bit and cocked her head to the left. "What brings you
to my tavern, lad? Are you here for just a drink or are you here
to shack up f'er the night?" She picked up her glass and took
another swig before standing up, turning to the bottles. Dainty
phalanges snatched up his glass quickly as she poured him
another and set it down in front of him, returning to her seat.
"Take it easy on that glass, my drinks aren't pansy shit. And
I'd rather not have to carry your ass up the stairs. Though with
the stumble you had earlier, I don't think it's too far off
anyways." Rolling her shoulders into a shrug, she looked off to
the stage for a moment before she straightened up and downed the
rest of her drink. "I'm Johnny, the owner." She said simply,
mixing up another drink for herself.
It was slightly odd that there was a new face out in the middle
of nowhere, but it wasn't unseen. Generally she took care of the
new customers because Charles didn't like new faces, only
because they often turned out to be pricks. Running her fingers
through blond curls, she quirked a brow as she looked about,
wondering when she had racked up customers and when exactly she
had become slightly more enthusastic about it than before.
Shrugging at the thought, she looked back to the aussie and
curiously observed him. There certainly was something odd about
this one, yet she couldn't quite place her finger on it.
Narrowing her orbs, she plucked her handkerchief from her bra
and leaned forward, handing it to him. "You have a blood stain
under your nose. Did ya get into a fight or somethin'?" She
questioned.

He listened and stifled his laughter out of respect for the
woman, being that it was her tavern and her drinks that he was
drinking. She doubted him, thought she saw right through him and
that every last detail was clear to her about him. But she
couldn't seem to create the big picture from it all. Honestly he
doesn't blame her for being so quick to the gun, but she
couldn't be more wrong about him. "I understand that you are the
owner of this place, that the average drifter breezes through
here and acts as if he owns the place. And honestly you have
every right to subjugate me with any and probably every
prejudice you see fit.. Hell if i were you i would be irritable
as well.." He began, whilst slowly turning his amused gaze
towards the woman. His eyes were seemingly brightening by the
second, and were becoming an icy blue as apposed to their prior
glazed blue. "But.. Johnny? Was it? A right should not always
define a means." Reaching for the glass that was refilled for
him, he took it and drank from it; Not breaking his eye contact
from hers. His tone was not in the least smart ass or even
irritated. But at the same time it could be mistaken as such.
His eyes began to creak contact from hers and began to study
details of the woman's complexion. "Sorry, lovely, my manners
must have been left elsewhere. I don't mean any sort of
disrespect. I just took your distaste in me as a challenge to
defend myself." With a smile lifting his cheeks, and creating
two dimples at either ends and finally took the handkerchief she
had offered him. "I assure you. I am nothing like you think."
His eyes finally pulled away from Johhny and he looked down into
the glass' contents. "As for why I am here, I was.. Erm.. Let's
say close enough by to have smelled the alcohol. I figured that
a quick drink wouldn't hurt." He answered her question without
revealing as much about himself as he could, then wiped at the
blood under his nose. "And yes, I got into a fight with this...
erm.. Broad fellow. Hard as a tree and build similar.." Spinning
in his chair he pointed over the heads of all the people and
directly at the entrance. "Ah! There is the bloke now! Aye,
taunting me it seems.." His face was serious as he spoke, but
slowly he peeked out the corner of his eye at Johnny, stifling a
smile as he waited for her reaction. She would probably find him
insane.. Hell he found himself insane. But he hadn't had a
conversation with a woman, nor anyone but himself as it turned
out, for what seemed like months.

plush pillows. "Ah, no, I didn't mean it in a rude way. Hell if
anything I'm happy to see a new face in my tavern. I could care
less what you're like, it's merely observation. I just hate
being called darlin'. Wouldn't care if ya called me sweetie,
honey, or even doll; but darlin's a hell no." She chuckled a bit
and took a swig of her drink, mixed pools slitted as she watched
him. "You're a curious fellow with intelligence beyond half
these half dead ruffians. So it's a nice change of view." Now
what was he talking about? A bloke that was hard as a tree? That
startled her a bit until he pointed over towards the door.
Blinking a few times, she put her glass down and couldn't help
the snickering that came flowing from her lips, soon turning
into a light laughter. "Ah shit. You ran yourself into the

hoping that he didn't mind it. Though he held a serious face,
she was dearly hoping he wouldn't get irate with her for
laughing at him. Straightening up, she chuckled a bit and shook
her head, taking a swig of her drink before settling it on the
bar and getting to her feet.
"Well, if you do wanna shack up f'er the night, let me know.
I'll set ya up with a room. And yeah, Johnny's m'name. Anyways,
I gotta go do a set." Turning to Charles, she waved him over and
grinned. "It's on the house tonight f'er this lad. He's done
that thing." Charles seemed to raise a brow and stare at the man
for a moment before he nodded and she walked off. "Hm, I
wouldn't have pegged you for a free one." He said casually,
cleaning up some glasses. "Before you ask, you made her laugh.
Not an easy feat with Johnny. Anyone who can make her laugh for
real gets their drinks on the house. Guess you really can't
judge a book by it's cover." He said, chuckling as he sat down
on the stool and watched the blond curls bounce about as Johnny
hopped onto the stage. "So, what's your name stranger?" He asked
as he watched Johnny grab up the mic and seem to grin. Many
wouldn't peg her for someone who wasn't cheerful with the way
she paraded around on stage. Generally, she was cheerful, but
getting her to laugh was something entirely different.
Making her laugh was like making a momma bear easily hand over
her cub to a poacher. She'd laugh all night long, but if someone
was trying to get her to laugh, she'd normally just shrug at
them. Yet as she stood on that stage and her lips parted, that
rough woman faded into the background to reveal someone who was
entirely filled with confusion. Like an apparition of someone
who use to be. That was, until it all unraveled and started to
clear up to show someone who had walked through hell and kept
going back for the ride. Charles watched his boss for a moment
before he curiously quirked a brow when she picked up an old
dusty guitar and started to play it along with her vocals. "Well
I'll be damned." He muttered, setting everything down and
watching her play. "Been a while since I've seen her pick that
thing up."

He wasn't even half expecting a laugh to come from Johnny, hell
he thought at the most his actions would give her a smirk at the
very most. Apparently she wasn't the only one that was
wrongfully assuming. A smile formed from his previously serious
composure as he heard her laugh resonate through his ears; It
reminded him of something.. No, no.. Someone. But who? He hasn't
heard a laugh like that in what seemed to be ages. Of course it
wasn't a very long, and was slightly lacking in confidence.. But
it reminded him of another woman. It was at this point that a
thought had forced it's way to the front of his consciousness,
and he was enveloped by it's images all together. That's all it
was though, just flashes of images.. He was in a big city.. A
coffee house? A red haired beauty was sitting across the table
of him.. The familiarity of it started the head ache again, thus
fogging the image, it's picture seemingly melting away and being
steadily replaced by the inside of the tavern once again; The
laughter of a woman, much like Johnny's, echoed through the last
bit of day dream.. He felt warm inside for the shortest of
moments. Was that a memory? A smile had been building on his
lips the entirety of his distant thoughts, but just as he
realized it was there, it was ripped away by the steady return
of his head ache. He took a steady breath and looked up at
Johnny just as she had offered him a room for the night, and
ignoring the building pain he smiled and watched as she walked
away. "Shack up for the night, ey?.. Hm. I just might." He
answered with that same smile.
Most would assume that because he was watching her walk away and
that he was smiling in her direction for no apparent reason,
that he was checking out her ass and coming on to her. But in
all reality, though she was very pretty, he wasn't interested in
her. Well... maybe not yet. The real reason why he was smiling
in her direction was because that was twice now that a vision of
his past had came to him.. And he related such events to her
presence. Turning to face Charles now he smiled at the bartender
and took a drink from the glass; numbing the headache before it
got any worse. "I can be a.. Hm. Let's just say that i am not
your average person." Anyone would take that sentence as
cockiness, but what he really meant was what crept in his
footsteps, and what he could do that no other man could do.
Teleportation for instance. "Name's Aad-.." Just as fast as he
spoke he turned his head and winced, taking another drink and
deciding not to chase whatever name he was about to say.
"Sorry.. My name is Nichklaus." Just as he was about to reach
out and shake Charles' hand, the tavern was filled by guitar
playing and an elegant voice following in it's sound. Obviously
Charles was captivated by this, along with half of the tavern..
So why not pay attention as well. Turning back around he faced
the stage, almost surprised to see Johnny be the one singing.

Charles watched his boss until he heard the man speak.
Turning to face him, he chuckled a bit. "Average, in this place?
Well if you're not average you're in the right tavern. Normal
people wouldn't step foot in Johnny's tavern. Not because it's a
bad place, but because it's not generally normal at all. It
ain't some high class inn." Turning his head to watch Johnny
once more, he heard the fellow speak his name and nodded, some
what curious as to what name he was about to say. "Well,
Nichklaus, I'm Charles. Pleasure to meet cha." He said, almost
absentmindedly as he watched the show carry on. Johnny always
faded into the background when she sang, well, the newer Johnny
anyways. The rough lass just seemed to melt away with each strum
of the guitar, turning into something old and unseen for a
while. Charles enjoyed seeing that old smile on her face. It
wasn't like she wasn't chipper and smiley as it was, but seeing
that old smile of her's seem to lighten everyone's moods. She
finished her set and settled the guitar back on it's stand, the
mic being replaced as well before she stepped off the stage. Now
Johnny wasn't interested in anyone in that manner. Curious about
people, yeah, but never fully interested in them.
It wasn't odd for her to spend a few hours getting to know
someone and simply being a friend later. Normal people wouldn't
even associate her with a look of even being cute. She didn't
look down on herself though. Then again, who would? They were
just judgmental pricks to her. She didn't give a damn what
people thought of her. Sitting down beside Nichklaus, she picked
up her drink and finished it off before smiling to Charles,
knowing the old man was probably wanting to prod her for why she
picked up the old guitar. Though he knew better than that and
simply inclined his head. Johnny pulled her hair tie off her
wrist and pulled up her curls, looking at the clock above the
liquor rack before she looked to Nichklaus for a moment, seeming
to observe him. "Don't let the door beat you later." She said,
snickering a bit as she pushed her glass to a confused Charles
before he returned it full to her. "And if ya do, at least let
me watch so I can get a good laugh out of it." A grin pulled the
corners of her lips and she leaned against the bar and propped
her head up on her hand. "So, do you live by here? You don't
seem like you'd be from around here, but you never know by
appearances alone. Oh, and what's your name?" Though Charles
knew it, she didn't.
