After her father had stepped outside, Daniel sighed and looked
at Jenny. "Sorry that your night isn't turnin' out very well
darlin'..." He whispered, then walking up to his room he grabbed
the .30-.06 from his closet and walked back downstairs. Taking
Jenny in his arms he smiled. "Baby, please stay here.... If not
for no other reason than I won't 'ave ta worry."

Jenny huffed and sat down. She had to let them go... Or at least
they had to think she would stay. After he got out the door she
ran upstairs, quickly dressing. Then grabs her gun, putting it
back in its holster, then runs out the door. Now where did they
go. There was some commotion at the barn. Jenny quickly ran in
that direction. Stopping dead at the door.

Daniel stood in the barn staring at the dying horse, he couldn't
believe it. Of all the horses, they could have gone for, it had
to be Jenny's. Closing his eyes, he swallowed and opened them as
he heard a hammer click. Staring at one of the other hands, he
growled, "James, you put that fucking rifle down, or I will blow
your damned head off." He stated, and crouched by the horse,
looking at the animail, he stroked its neck gently, seeing the
fear and pain in its eyes. "Shhh... shh.... You'll be okay..."
He whispered. Reaching behind his back he drew the colt 1911 he
kept holestered there. "I'm sorry Jenny..." He whispered having
       no idea she was there.

She stood there, watching tears streaming down her face.
Watching as he drew his gun. Hearing the words fall from his
lips. Her dad looked up, and saw her. Jenny shook her head
putting a finger to her lips to hush him. Saying a silent prayer
for her horse. Then let out a small sob and fell to the ground
       when it happened.

Daniel knelt there, and slide his hand over the horses eye, then
bringingup the .45 he sat there, the muzzle pressed to its
temple. Taking several deep breaths, he cocked the hammer then
squeezed the trigger. The shot didn't shock him, nor the recoil,
not even the slight flinch of the horse bothered him. What did
cause him to jump was hearing a soft cry, turning slightly,
while stil on his knees, he saw Jenny. The entire world was
spinning now, his mind racing as his fathers old handgun slipped
from his grip, on the dirt where it quickly was surrounded by
the horses blood. Staring at Jenny, he shook his head, "I'm
       sorry..." He muttered.

She looked at him, and the blood pooling around the dead horses
head. She stood. Dried her tears and walked from the barn.
Running around it so she was out of sight, waiting for them to
clear away from the barn to find her. Then she walked back in,
saddled up her fathers horse. Grabbed a flashlight from his tool
closet, and rode from the barn into the woods. She was going
       coyote hunting.

When JKenny ran, Daniel went after her, his boots slipping in
the mud. Once he got around the barn she was gone, and everyone
was looking for her When he got back, he saw her fathers horse
missing, and managed a smile, pulling his phone from hhis pocket
he sent a message to her saying,
"You're fast, clever, and I am sorry."
He didn't beg her to come back, rasther he grabbed his gun from
where one of the other hands, and pulled it from the blood, and
wiped it off then set it, and placed it back into its holster.
Grabbing a shovel, he walked out to the field, and all the way
to the tree he had seen Jenny sit under a thousand times.
Pulling off his jacket he started digging. When Mike, an older
rancxh hand walked over, Daniel just stood and stared at him
until he left, then went back to digging.

She tied her fathers horse to a tree and crept throught he
woods. Listening for the coyotes to cry. When she heard one, she
quietly moved in that direction. She seen them. Out in an open
field. Surrounding the carcass of some poor animal. They would
be there for a minute. Quickly she went back to her fathers
horse, and untied it, then climbed up on it. Walking the horse
       back to the area.
Raising her gun, aiming for the first ones head. The shot,
caused it to drop dead instantly. The others quickly scattering.
Kicking the horse in the sides it started to gallop. Jenny
continued to aim the gun. Pointing it at each one. Dropping them
each. A couple ran off into the woods but she didn't bother
chasing them down. Instead she got stopped the horse then hopped
down. Walking up to the body of one of the coyotes. A swift kick
to it. Talk about kicking a dead dog. Bending down she pulled
out her hunting knife, and began to cut into the animals neck.
Severing body from head. She stood and wiped one of her hands
off on her jeans and pulled her phone out. Reading the message
from Tex. Instead of answering she put it back, picked up the
head and headed back to the ranch. She caught sight of Tex under
a tree. He seemed to be just climbing out of a hole. She rode
up. Dropping the dead animals head on the ground next to him.
"There's your killer. Not you." With that she turned and rode
her fathers horse back to the barn, to say goodbye to her horse.

Daniel heard the shots and ignored them, he knew who it was, and
what they were doing. He didn't know how much time passed while
he dug the grave for the horse, by hand. He could feel blisters
forming on his rough hands, and the cold damp earth sticking to
his clothes, and exposed skin. He was filthy, but he wouldn't
stop digging, not with Jenny's horse laying dead on the floor of
the barn, a .45 caliber slug lodged in the dirt under its head.
He was finally finished, the hole was large enough, for Jenny's
horse, and deep enough for it as well. Throwing the shovel out,
he started climbing when he looked up, seeing a coyote head roll
uop to him. Kicking it aside, he went to speak, but Jenny was
       already gone.
