Fox Forest
DIR By: Senrei

The land known as Fox Forest is actually more like a living
Jungle, littered with exotic plants, animals and wonders beyond
the imagination. It's rumored, that deep, within the forest, is
an Ancient ruin, of a temple where an Ancient civilization gave
worship to two Fox Spirits that ruled over the lands. It's also
said that the Forest has a consciousness of it's own, able to
detect, and fight off threats of it's own will, in order to
protect the ancient ruins and whatever treasures they may
contain. Two lakes lay on the northern, and southern sides of
the Forest, with a beautiful river that connects them. The
northern lake is at the base of a massive waterfall, whereas,
the southern lake runs down into what appears to be an
underground cavern, that only a fool would care to enter. This
is a land of many wonders and many terrors. to enter it with
ill-will, would be unwise.

|Rayne was standing in the middle of her entire world. Of course
she was in dreamland, but she could see anything and everything
about her. She saw herself as a little girl, at how all the
older boys would pick on her for her often changing hair and
eyes. But it didn't take her long to reopen her eyes and exit
that land of mysteries. She looked around her surroundings, and
wondered how she had gotten into this place... This foresty
place. She staid silent until she heard water, one of the things
she didn't really like. Her eyes were engulfed in flames. She
looked around ad began to walk around this unfamiliar place.|

Some time it had been since someone had wandered into this
forest. The rumors of the danger had kept people out for years,
and while they weren't false, they weren't necessarily true
either. The forest wouldn't arbitrarily attack someone for
entering the area, only for posing some sort of threat. And
then, there was always the Forest's guardian, who was now
watching from a nearby bush. The small fox cub sat perfectly
still, looking up at the odd woman who stood as if in a trance.
How long had she been standing there like that? Why was she
there? The fox stood onto it's four tiny feet and let out a
single bark. His voice was high pitched, almost sounding like a
yelp than a menacing bark. But then she seemed to snap out of
it... The cub took a couple steps back, hopefully going
unnoticed, and followed the woman silently, inspecting her,
until he knew what her intentions were.

|Things were swirling within her mind making her head feel like
a balloon.| Ooooh that felt nice... |Her voice being sarcastic,
until she looked around from hearing a bark. Was there animals
out here?| Her eyes switched back to their vibrant orange
flavor. But she kept her head down, and leaned her body against
a tree.| I hardly doubt anyone would be out here... In the
fuckin' middle of no where... |She slid down til she was
sitting, and yawned softly, waiting for something...
anything...|

For some time, the fox cub followed silently. The woman
continued to walk, but made no attempt to do anything. She
didn't even seem to be looking for anything. It was as if she
just woke up here. Her statement made the tiny fox's ears raise,
and he barked at her once more, announcing that she wasn't
alone, rather in a place full of life. He didn't approach,
however, simply watched from a distance for a moment. When he
did finally approach, he sniffed her cautiously, wondering if
she was truly a lost person, or if she had come to do harm to
the place. If she checked out, he would be able to take his
normal form, and perhaps help her in her situation. If not, the
Forest would have her in parts by nights end...

|As soon as Rayne had spoken she heard another bark. She quickly
looked towards where the nose came from and waited, until a
small fox like thing slowly walked out towards her; since Rayne
was a major animal person, she smiled lightly, and extended her
hand to the creature. Wanting him to know she wasn't going to
hurt him.| Damn, you're a cute fella. |She gave him a polite
smile again, only ting she would smell like would be cherry
blossoms and fire.|

The fox examined the woman closely, sniffing her, circling a few
times, sniffing again... After being satisfied, the pup licked
the woman's hand, a symbol that she had been accepted as a
guest. However, he didn't stick around to play. The little fox
quickly ran off into the trees. He didn't return. For several
minutes, the woman would be alone again. But after some
undetermined amount of time, a mass of white mist would cover
the ground, and from it, someone would emerge. Long silver hair
with matching eyes... A fox's tail and ears, and a cold,
emotionless stare. Dressed in white robes, the man had a very
natural appearance. Most likely having never existed in a modern
civilization. His feet wouldn't seem to move beneath the mist,
almost as if he were gliding toward the woman. "You're lost,
correct?" He didn't smile, or introduce himself to the woman,
but he didn't frown or come off as rude either. He seemed very
businesslike, despite his apparent desire to assist the unknown
woman.

|Once the pup licked Rayne, she giggled, and watched it run
off. Her lips twisted into a half smile, half frown. She
wondered where the pup was off too, but she didn't really speak
or call after the animal; her head tilted back against the bark
of the tree, and her bright eyes closed. They stayed closed
until she heard a voice, her eyes slowly rolled open, and she
looked towards the man that now stood in front of her. She took
a deep breath and gasped out loudly. Quickly she placed her
palms on the ground and pushed herself up, and looked at him
again.| Well, yes. I am lost. Where am I? |She tilted her head,
waiting for his answer.|

The Forest's guardian nodded his head when the woman admitted to
being lost. He turned his back to her and looked off into the
distance. The sound of the waterfall could be heard not too far
to the north. "This is the land known as Fox Forest." He told
her. "It was home to an Ancient civilization that worshiped Fox
Spirits. It isn't dangerous to anyone who doesn't threaten to
harm it, however." Not once did a hint of emotion play on his
face during his explanation. "I am Senrei. Guardian of the
Forest." He told her. In reality, he hadn't always been the
guardian of this land. He was once one of the Fox spirits that
the people in the country worshiped. In their absence, he had
taken up babysitting the land. But that was more information
than the woman needed.

|This was just not something Rayne was used to. She looked down
at her hands, the hands that once had done terrible things, and
then she looked back up to the... 'guardian.' Heh... As if...| A
guardian? Okay not be uhh... Disrespectful... Guardian, but is
there any proof that you're what you say you are? |Her eyes
narrowed, and her hands were light on her hips. She then added.|
Oh... It's a pleasure to meet you Senrei. Just call me Rayne.
