There's no place like Home.

'Disaster struck Horizon City today when something unknown
caused the city to sink right into the ocean. Right now though
authorities are more worried about the survivors. Unfortunately
the numbers of survivors are very low. The body count out weighs
the amount of people who have survived by thousands. This is a
dark day for use all, please pray for the people of Horizon
City.'
"It was only a matter of time before that city would be claimed
by the ocean. It's beyond me why anyone would wanna live in a
city build on the ocean." Scout sighed smoking a cigarette
leaning back comfortably in a chair listening to the news about
the disaster on the radio. A women steps into the waiting room
looking over at Scout. Reaching up with her index finger she
pushed her glasses up. She flashed Scout a sweet smile and Scout
simply gave her nod still smoking his cigarette. "President
Benjamin is ready to see you." Grabbing a folder setting on
small next to his seat Scout got up and went right in. "Thank
you Cindy." Flashing him another smile she took her sit at the
desk and went back to work. Scout stepped into the Presidents
office throwing the folder on the desk. The President raised his
eye brows at it.
"What's this Scout?"
Scout threw his cigarette on the floor stepping on it before he
sat down comfortably in a chair. "That is my report on mission
you set me out on. Boy Mr. President your company is working on
some pretty eerie shit. It'd be a shame if it got out in public.
Maybe it was your little company that had something to do with
the sinking of Horizon City?"
The President flipped the folder open looking over it closely.
"That's why we hired your little organization Scout, to keep our
secrets in the dark."
Scout smirked and pulled out his lighter and another Cigarette.
"Hired? More like bought. Oh and that's another thing I wanted
to talk to you about Mr. President. There's two files in there
of two of my agents. Both missing in action on a mission that
your company sent them on. Now I don't know how you run things,
but MY agents are very important to me. When they go missing I
get worried. It'd be a very good idea if you threw some money
our way along with some of your soldiers so that we can bring
them home safely...if they're still alive. And what no comment
on Horizon City....very suspicious Bruce."
The President flashed Scout a glare as his face started to turn
a bit red. He hated people calling him by his first name. He was
the President and it was disrespectful in his mind to be called
by his first name. "I worked hard to get where I am today Scout.
I am Mr. President or President Benjamin to you nothing else. As
for the money and rescue team that will be handed to you right
away. Now get out of my office!"
Scout laughed and stood up right out his seat. "Right away
Bru....I mean Mr. President" With a smirk Scout turn and walked
out of the office. The President glared and watched his every
step out of the office. He'd be on top of the world if it
weren't for Scout and his organization. Scout's organization had
information that The Presidents company just couldn't let out
into the public, so for now he'd just have to put up with
Scout's smart ass comments.

Sleeping in was never an option; before the sun even woke up
from its slumber her body was forcing her out of bed. She envyed
people how could sleep for hours on end yet she knew she would
never live a day where that was an option anyhow. Yet this
morning the buzz of her cell phone against her cheek was what
alerted her. Most times she would grunt and try to slip back
into slumber but she could tell that this was important. In bold
letters the presidents name flashed on her phone and in a second
she bolted up right into bed and tried to sound as none groggy
as she could.
"Hello President, What is the urgency?" Her voice sounded
almost as angel like as always.
"I need you to turn on your TV and be in my office by nine.
Can you do that?" His voice sounded much more sleep deprived
then her own.
"Yes; Ill be there."
She was shocked by the unemotion in his voice but when the
light of the TV flashed in her face her jaw dropped to the
ground. Her eyes goes zoned into the pictures; all of her
surroundings she was oblivious to at this point. When she grew
up every summer they took a family vacation there. That was
ofcourse before her mother's body rotted away by the effects of
cancer. She shook the sentimental thoughts from her brain and
she focused on the work she had infront of her. This was not
going to be an easy task and she didn't even know the jist of it
was.
She slipped into the shower while the coffee maker made
her her morning juice. She brushed out her hair and the the
curls to the rest; make up on the other hand was on the aspect
of 'time is beauty'. Once she slipped on the mini skirt and
black tank while her coffee lip was being snapped on she was
headed out the door to the office. By now the trip could be done
with her eyes being blind folded and her hands being tied behind
her back. She slipped through the entrance doors and her heels
were immediately being the distraction of many as she rushed to
his office. Three minutes; she could do this. All she could do
is nod to the receptionist. Once she was about to reach for the
door knob it was already being opened by a tall, lengthy man.
All she could here was.
"Not too fast Scout; meet your new partner."
Before she could even think about objecting she glared at
the man; she was not good at sharing. When she had a mission she
liked to play the field all by herself. She couldn't shake off
the feeling that when she was paired up with a person of the
opposite sex that they thought she couldn't handle the mission
by being a woman. The reason why she joined was to show men like
the president that she could do bad all by herself. Yet here she
was stuck with a smoking lunitic.
"Hello my name is Daphne; nice to meet you" Yet her
greeting came out through gritted teeth it still sounded as if
she was trying to seduce him with her charm.

Scout took a quick glace at the female as he smoked. "My new
partner? Awww you finally worry about my safety Mr. President?"
Scout smirked and looked over his shoulder at him. "And about
this mission? I thought I was gonna get the day off jeez how far
is that stick up your ass? Honestly I just got back and
your...." Scout was cut right off by hearing the female speak.
He turned his head to face her once again. "Yes Daphne I know
who you are. Who did you think had a hand in hiring you.
Anyways..." He turned around and walked back into the presidents
office. "Okay so what's this mission you have for me?"
The President sighed not wanting to put up with Scout anymore
today or for the whole month in fact. "One of are scientist
disappeared last week taking important files along with some
equipment. If any of that get's out into the public..."
Scout smirked and finished his sentence for him. "What? It will
ruin your little reputation? Everyone will know this companies
deep and dark secrets. Like the things you do to your
soldiers...the way you mess with they're DNA."
"ENOUGH SCOUT!" The President shouted and slammed his fist down
on the desk. He stood right up out of his chair and glared at
Scout. "This company hired you to do your job! NOT for you to
mouth off! Am I understood!?!?!"
Scout smirked and bit and nodded. "Loud and clear Mr.
President." Scout turned and left the room chuckling a little.
It got under the Presidents skin that he couldn't to anything to
Scout and his agents and Scout knew that. Scout's organization
were truly untouchable...for now at least. "Come on Daphne there
should a chopper waiting for us on the roof. The sooner we get
this done the sooner I get off."

Once he spoke her blood started to boil in her body. How
dare he act like that to her. Did she look like the kind of girl
to just shove around like she was nothing? If this was the way
the whole plan went then he wouldn't be breathing when she
brought his corpse back to the president. In her head she
imagined beating him to a bloody pulp and taking away the two
things that he should only probably hold pride for but even
those might be worthy of praise. Once he started speaking to the
president her face was full of awe. Though the president does
tend to get under her skin her mouth could never let poison like
that escape her lips; he was the president for crying out loud.
One thing she hoped he would understand about her is you do
not boss her around. She heard his words of her to 'come on' and
she wanted to shove them so far up his ass that he would eat
them for dinner. She halted him and grabbed his shirt into a
tight clench in her fist.
"Lets get this straight now; I will not be a puppy dog that
obeys every comand of yours and at no point in time in this
mission will I ever be your bitch." Her words bolted into his
soul.
She strutted infront of him and her heels dug into the tile
as she spoke the last few words.
"and ladies first; geez Scout didn't your mother teach you any
respect?" Her bright blue eyes pierced back at him as an eyelid
darted a seductive wink.
She rushed up into the helicopter and got herself ready for
the ride. Though she knew it would happen the last thing that
she wanted was for the dipshit to sit next to her the whole ride
there. She crossed her arms in anger as her eyes remanded out
onto the horizon.

Scout just chuckled hearing Daphne speak to him. He looked back
at the President and smirked a bit. "Oh you two would get along
just great. I can tell you both seem to hate me." Flicking his
cigarette on the floor he stepped on it to put it out as he
watched her walk off. "My mother? Never got to know her, she
died giving birth to me." He simply chuckled and followed her up
to the rooftop with a bored little look on his face. So they're
goal to was to find this missing scientist and get back as much
of the things he stole. Scout rolled his eyes shoving his hands
deep into his pockets, this little mission was gonna be such a
bore. To make matters worse he was going on it was some one he
just didn't get along with at all. Scout wasn't really a people
person and he worked on his own a lot, so this was gonna be a
bit of a challenge for him.
Scout climbed into the helicopter and sat across from her. He
reached for a head set and put it on so that he may speak with
the pilot. "Alright, I need you to take us to mile stone
village. Our target was last seen there if I'm correct and after
he was seen there a few people went missing. No hurry
though...they missing people aren't what we were hired for so
take your time getting there alright?" Scout nodded hearing a
'Roger' before the chopper took off. He sighed and leaned his
head back again his seat and closed his eyes. "You sure have a
snippy mouth miss....didn't your mother teach you to respect
other's?" He laughed and pulled out his lighter and another
cigarette. Scout could drink and smoke for days upon days and it
never seem to show any signs of bad help. His body was in tip
top shape and his eyes kinda had a strange bluish green glow to
them at times.
"Knowing from what I've heard about you Daphne is that you like
getting up early. Well I'd be wise to take a nap, because the
village we're headed to is about two hours away from here just
by air."

Once her body sunk into the soft seat in the helicopter her
heart sunk down into her stomach. How could she not think of her
words before they were already too late to inhale back in? Her
eyes darted down to her lap as she heard all of his words; she
wanted to respond to him but she was scared to say something
worse then she had already said so all she could do is bob to
his words. She then say him slowly falling into slumber so she
took the file into her own hands. Her eyes scanned over the
words that were the files; everything seemed to be messy here.
She knew something was missing here; there was a missing puzzle
piece amongst this disaster and no matter how many times she
read the words over and over again something was missing. Then
everything hit her like a brick wall. The information he stole
was missing. It was like it was supposed to be hidden from
everyone; like no one was supposed to know the truth of the
situation. Then it all pieced together in her brain; like her
brain found the last piece of the puzzle under the couch and
everything was complete. The information had to be from the
reason behind the collapsing of Horizon City. No one else could
have made a whole city of brick crumple down quieter than the
president herself. Her nose let out hot air as she grunted.
“Did you know about this Scout?” Her voice innocent; like her
whole self had changed. “Look I am sorry but it is a bad time of
the month if that makes any sense to you…”
Though that wasn’t all a lie there was another part that
made her mouth off to him earlier that day. Yet before she
looked up at him a snore escaped from his mouth and she shook
her head. How could he sleep with the things that are going on
around them? They are on a top secret mission to probably murder
a scientist that did the same thing she would have done herself
with that kind of information in hand. How could a man collapse
a huge part of the economy? That was a major tourist destination
that brought in tons of money; why would he want that to crumple
down like Atlantis? She rubbed her face; trying to release the
tension yet nothing could quiet shake off the thoughts that were
bottled up in her soul. How could a person sleep at night
knowing they killed thousands of innocent people? She knew she
would not be able to sleep till something happened next. One
thing she knew for a fact was she wanted this mission to be over
because she knew something was going to happen that would change
her life forever.

Scout was out like a light almost right away. He dropped his lit
cigarette out of the chopper and it the fall it would have put
it self out. Scout being the rank he was and with everything
going on in the world right now he was still very laid back and
peaceful. Then again he had been working as an agent for a long
time and he knew more information then most of the other agents.
There were only two agents that knew a little more then Scout
did and they were the two agents that were in charge. They were
rank Z agents, Scout was a rank A agent one under Z rank. So he
was kinda used to this stuff plus being at the high rank he was
he almost got no free time to himself. He was always running out
on mission and the job was starting to bore him. Within two
hours the made it with no problems at all. The chopper landed
right out of the village and Scout woke up hearing the pilot
talking into the head set. "We're here." Scout stretched out and
yawned stepping out of the chopper.
He looked back at Daphne. "I see you were looking at the files.
Well then..." He turned away and shoved his hands in his pockets
with a smirk. "After this mission I'll have to hear what you
think of this whole thing."
Scout slowly walked into Village at a peaceful pace. Once inside
the two would meet up with two more agents. One being a male and
the other a female. Dress about the same as Scout wearing nice
suits. Scout smiled looking over at Daphne. "This York, and
Blink." The male York smiled and waved and the female Blink just
smiled and nodded a bit. "So did you two get any leads?"
York nodded with a smile pointing farther back in the village.
"At the back end of the village is where that scientist ran off
with the three missing people. Those people were a family. A
mom, dad, and son. The villagers are afraid to go in there and
care to know why?"
Scout nodded a bit raising an eye brow. "Well of course."
Blink stepped up and started to speak now. "He ran into an old
hospital building...the hospital is where the President's
company was running human experiments. The people of this
village say they refuse to go in there because they say they see
strange creatures in there."
Scout just smirked and walked off slowly to the hospital. "Well
then...good thing this isn't are first time running into the
things the company as created. Well I don't know about you
Daphne be me, York, and Blink have seen some pretty crazy shit.
So be on your toes Daphne."

Once they hit the air strip she bolted up right as she held
onto the files. Her mind was crampacked with secrets, thoughts,
and riddles. Though the puzzle pieced together in her brain
didn't mean that some of the pieces were in the right places.
Sometimes the things she read seemed added; like the government
was trying to cover their ass. One thing they didn't know what
to do though was apparently cover their tracks. It seemed like
they needed to go to an acting class cause their poker face was
never brilliant; you could always smell something rotten
brewing. Once he had awoken from his slumber she was about to
load him on with questions but her mouth seemed to be locked up
and the key had traveled too far down into her digestive system
to reach it. As he got up and spoke of them having a discusion
about it afterwards she calmed down a bit; she was hopefull that
her questions could be answered.
Soon they were strolling about the Village; one that should
be erupting with people who were smiling and dancing was vacant
of any noise or laughter. It was erie how empty it was; it made
her think of a ghost town. Once they met up with the agents she
smiled; they seemed sweet and innocent yet she knew looks could
decieve. She shot a smile back to them as her hand lifted to
give them a wave. Then the leads were spoken and she was even
more confused. This family was a typical family; it didn't even
have anything to do with the missing information or so it
seemed. Maybe there was something more to that family then they
knew. Then she heard about the reason why the village would be
vacant; they were terrified of what the scientist could be
conjuring up in the old hostpital. Once they headed towards the
building and he told her to keep on her toes she could only nod;
she had seen some wicked things in life but never a mystical
creature. Chills ran down her body as she thought of the things
they could be running into in the moments to come. Her fingers
reached in her back as she held her pistol in grip. She was glad
she decided to pack this because she knew she was going to need
it.
"Are we allowed to shoot these th..." Her sentance was then
interupted as her body was slammed down to hard cenment.
The creature was completely black and full of muscle. Her
shoulders were pinned down as she grunted. Good thing she knew
how to take care of herself. Her heel kicked up into his gut;
the bullet in her heel ingniting into the creature. She was
thankful to her designer friends for creating such articles of
clothing to help her escape death. Yet the creature was still
heaving with its wreching breath hiting her straight in the
face. She shifted his weight upon her shoulders as she escaped
his bite that was lunging towards her neck. She slammed the
creature down onto the ground as she pulled out her gun and
shoved it right next to his temple and let a round blow right
through his skull; the amount of black ooze that escaped the
opposite side of his brain and how his torso stopped moving was
what showed her that he had been finished off. She stood up and
tried to calm herself down by taking long smooth breathes but
she was completely freaked out. Her hands and legs were covered
in the creatures blood; the smell was vile as she tired to wipe
it off but all it did was smear.
"So...does anyone care to inform me of anything else I should
know about?" Her voice was weak as she looked up at Scout; she
tried to hide to fear in her eyes but she was sure it was as
noticable as the blood that covered her.

As the strange creature came out from no where and attacked
Daphne Scout stepped back with a small smirk. York and Blink saw
what he was doing and stepped back as well. They weren't doing
this to be cruel in anyway, they were doing this to make sure
she could handle herself. They wanted to make sure she was a
good agent and that she didn't have to depend on others to
always be there to save her time and time again. If it got bad
though they would jump right in and safe Daphne from death. If
they had to do that they would of sent her back to recover and
do more training. Daphne was in luck though she was able to
handle this strange creature without getting to badly hurt.
Scout chuckled a little taking a cigarette and popping it in his
mouth. So the girl could handle herself that was good...very
good.
"Well done Daphne...well done. Looks like you know how to handle
yourself when need be. Sorry we would have jumped in but we just
wanted to watch and see if you were able to protect yourself. We
always aren't gonna be there for you, there will be mission
you'll have to do on your own. I bet you already know this
then...anyways lets get back to work guys." Scout said with a
chuckle heading to the hospital with Blink following.
York looked to Daphne as she asked her question. "Well Daphne
when we get to the scientist we're tracking down keep a cool
head and let Scout handle things. Don't touch anything in the
area he's in and leave the cleaning up to me and Blink. You
don't want this mission to come back and bite you in the ass do
ya?" York asked a laughed a bit walking off to the hospital now
as well.

As she stood up and looked at Scout she could notice the
pleasure on his lips. The way he spoke to her she knew he was
proud of her he just wasn't about to express it in front of the
other agents and would never say the words "good job Daphne I am
proud of you" bluntly. Her breathes soon became more even then
they had been temporarily. Her body was worn but it wasn't
completely burnt of all fuel just yet. As York spoke to her of
what was happening next she wanted to cock her head but she
resisted the gesture. She followed close behind him as she
thought to herself. Why was she even on this mission if she was
to do completely nothing? Anger started to slowly build up
inside her but as York had mentioned she tried to keep a cool
head. Yet how could she when she was the outcast of this whole
group? Her heels clunked along as she made her way through the
hostpital with them. Her fingers clenched at her gun in the
holds of her skirt. Danger surrounded them and if it attacked
her once more she only hoped that her strength would be enough
to fight creatures off or else she knew that death would be upon
her.
No words were uttered form her mouth because she knew that
in intense moments as these that were occuring with them right
now. So many questions ran through her brain but she knew not to
ask a single one of them in this moment. Once they entered the
hostpital she could spoke a light coming out from the crevices
of the door down the lenghty hallway. She stayed at the rear of
the group as she constantly checked behind herself. Once they
entered the lighted room she could see that this mission was
going to be horrendous. Both wife and son were tied up with
socks in their mouths keeping them from being able to scream for
the help they direly needed. She gripped the gun even tighter as
she tried to glance around. There were two people missing; the
scientist and the father of the family. Where they were at this
moment was unknown but she had a feeling when they found them
that it would not be a happy reunion for the family.
