I don't think the collision is the problem with this battery
because each cell is isolated from the other but every cell was
       black.
The battery was sat in a shed whilst it was on the turbine,
maybe I fried it without noticing or it was just a bad battery
       to start with.
Just thought I would bring this up so no-one else does the same
to a new battery, (They are too expensive to lose in a short
       period).

maybe someone put tap water in instead of distilled. calcium and
       magnesium?

Well you never know what happens to the battery before you buy
it but I didn't have it long enough to warrant any water
       replacement. Just a mystery.

on the topic of batteries old an low charged batteries dead
frozen ones... i have been experimenting with them this winter
an different chemicals... an this is what i found out about
       regenerating old batteries...
i took a frozen battery thawed it an added just plain distilled
water..battery was a car battery dead an sulfate crystal on
plates when thawed it had 10.5 volts charged it with 6 amp
battery after thawing charged to 13v then trickel charged it
       2amp for a whole day when rested it held a 12.8 charge..old
Schumacher charger... it came alive for about 2 month froma
frozen state..dead now it is at 10.5 volts an holding an will
drain fast after charge think it has a bad cell... each cell is
to have a 2.2 v a cell it was a sealed battery.. died and frozen
so now it will not keep a charge but will stay at 10.5v
at the same time i heard about alum .....have not tried it yet..
would like to now if alum really works? key i heard was dump
acid solution an neutralize it to an akaline battery... key on
older batteries.. i saw on youtube was to desulifate plates
with backing soda solution then rinse with distilled water to
clean several times with just distilled water an then add alum
       solution to restore charge over
       night...
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Supe1a3LW2U
i also used and epson salt solution on some sealed lead acid
to boost not replacing the lead acid one was frozen an had a
dead cell i found out latter no hope the other had a charge but
i could not get it up to 12 v did not work.. one was frozen two
where hooker 10 year old battery sealed 10 ah black in side
dry..i also checked my charger an found out that the diodes are
       cooked...i was getting 8.5 volts on 12v 6amp side charge so i
really do not know if they can be saved i will try again with
new charger .. i went an bought a new 40 amp charger because
before my other charge crapped out i did manage to bring 2 other
batteries on fron an one not to a constant float charge of 12.6
       ...
  HTML http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/additives
last week i got a pair of trojan 130 ah deep cycle t-2 used
had 11.3 volts on batteries for 30$ core charge... after
talking to technical rep on how to rejuvenate/restore.. they
said the need to be equalized an i said at what charge they said
just add distilled water ...i had to drain a quart of acid
between charging the 2 batteries they looked like some one had
tried to charge they had white spill over on them when i got
them an full to the cap top..... after a charge to get them to
12.6... i called Trojan tech rep next day..an said what is
equalization the explained an i told them what i did i hit them
with 40 amp for 15- 20 min each to knockoff sulfation on plates
about 5 x's... then back to 10 amps.... each cell bubbled /boil
they said that was good they had good cell's each cell was
active till i got them to 14.7 there recommendation to equalize
at 10 amp an the pair charged in parall +to+ /-to - held them
there at that charge 10 amps for 2 hours@ 14.7 it has been 2
weeks an the both read 12.6 now after just sitting trojan said
12.7 is a good charged battery they need to be equalized ounce
every 3 months an maintained with a solar panel or charger.. i
said what about a trickle charger the battery tender they said
thats good but watch they an a solar panel can cook them.....
man make sure you water them with just distilled water ( i had
to remove some fluid as the where over filled) when i got them
an after first charge i saw they need to have some acid
drained... i have found just pur distilled water an good charger
is the best maintenance .. 1.2v Edison iron side are the
       best.....batteries$$$$$$$$$$
my car battery reads 12.2 -4 an starts car fine mechanic said
that's good it take 2 hrs of drive time to charge your car
battery with car alternator ... seems everyone has a difference
of opinions... i would like to know if changing a car battery
with alum if you can then use it with solar like a lead acid
deep cycle battery an if it real works..

**has any one tried the battery alum /alkaline chemistry
conversion?** dose it work? i have done 2 others an Epson salt i
have had no luck but had a bad charger too! when i tried it an
if it dose work how long a charge will it hold so many ? ???what
is the solution ratio to distilled water an baking soda
       cleaning.
what is the ratio of alumn to distilled.. when replacing i hate
lead acid..but i do not want to blow up a battery either or
       short a charger.
any one tried this do not believe everything you here.. if it
sound to good to be true well word an actions speak for
themselves..i spent all winter playing with batteries...

I have no doubt that it works. Lots of good tutorials. I trust
       Lidmotor's youtube videos.
I am not sure what the big advantage is for the amount of work.
Lots of interesting ways to make batteries, crystal cells, salt
water batteries. But they all have to be charged somehow.
       Have fun experimenting

       hey thanks lynx,
it is a lot warmer today amen! .. than it was @ -45 to -20
months or 2 ago ... but forecast is predicting rain ...next 4
days..so i'm going to look into your little (the lynx
booster)trickle float charger modified by crazyguy with the two
aaa batteries. beats the store bought
an thanks for the promotion star to JR member status that i am
an learn ..i like your site great place to call home..nice
clean, organized an very nice members.. i 'm honored an humbled
to be a part of your network of champions... :)thank you! have
to go have a doc appointment!
by the way that battery ran for 10 hours and another hour this
morning an still has 10.1v may just try an recharge again @ 10
amp for a few then trickle charge for an overnight like i said
it may have a dead or shorted cell but it works in an
emergency.. LJL SC runs on 9v-12v very well.
       god bless
enjoy the sunny warm spring day.....

       I have a dumb question and I am not sure about 24 v from 2 - 12
volt batteries Can I charge each battery (12 volt ) just like
they were not connected in series while they are connected in
series ? Or do I have to disconnect one battery to use a 12 volt
       charger on one .
