       In reference to post #1 about pulse charging,
       I have found that this is the best way to charge any battery as
       long as you keep the current down.
       As far as the bedini motor I cannot comment but as for a solid
       state unit I cannot fault the "Re-Emf" charger that Rene
       designed. I have used this type of charger for some time now and
       believe me it charges anything and even can bring dead batteries
       back to life.
       Here is Rene`s you-tube video on the charger:-

       Nice thx for that ! Now let me ask could you use another 12 volt
       battery in place of the power supply ?
       and could you use the same setup but use a 1.5 volt battery to
       charge another 1.5 volt battery or do you have to change the
       resistors to match the change in volts in

       @ sut
       I would imagine you could use any voltage you wish for the input
       (power supply) as long as it is higher than the battery to be
       charged. You can use batteries as your power supply but need to
       be higher than the battery to be charged.
       I have not done much testing with this circuit, I just built it
       as per the video and used it.
       I use a 16v transformer on mine and it charges 12v batteries
       with no problem at about 1A maximum down to about 100ma. I
       usually set it to about 1/2 amp and it does great. Restored a
       few battery`s for my power drills.
       [move]Hope this helps !![/move]

       yep and I have 12 a ni cad waiting to be tested all I have to
       do is get parts and build it thx

       This one was designed by LYNX. He designed it to charge a
       battery from a wind turbine but if you replace the turbine and
       bridge and replace with a battery you can charge a 12v battery
       from 2AAA CELLS.

       I replicated Rene's circuit soon after he posted it at Laser
       Hacker's forum. It worked well and is clever. My only issue is
       that it was sensitive to input voltage (I burned up a few
       transistors). The input needs to be about 50% higher than the
       battery being charged which isn't very handy. His circuit does
       a nice job of amp charging and pulse charging at the same time
       and it may have inspired the charging circuit posted above by
       CrazyGuy. Can't quite remember the evolution of my scattered
       thinking. I have really had fun playing with blocking
       oscillators.

       @Lynx
       the circuit I posted by you was slightly modified by me.
       I added the 10 k pot as a "fine tuning control ".
       and I substituted the AAA battery for the turbine and bridge.
       The AAA battery actually charged the 12 v one i had.

       @ Lynx
       As stated above, I have not really played with the circuit to
       know the "in`s and out`s" of it. I can see that the required
       voltage has to be higher or there is nothing left to oscillate
       the coils but it certainly has recovered a battery or two for
       me.
       I will have to give your circuit a whirl sometime.
       Maybe someone could answer this one for me because it baffled me
       ???
       I bought a brand new diesel battery for a car that ended up
       getting wrecked by a drunk driver, so being only a few months
       old I decided to put it into service with my turbine (50W) to
       keep it topped up. A year down the line I checked the acid
       levels and found that the acid was a horrible black colour,
       shortly after that the battery died but the levels were okay.
       ::) ?
       I don't think I ever over-charged it but who knows ! + I did
       pull power from it now and again during power outages.

       @Crazy Guy,
       Yes, you did modify and make that turbine boost circuit better
       and explored it further. Lots of kudos to your inventiveness
       and creativity.
       @NessProjects
       I had that happen to a battery hooked up to a turbine. But the
       turbine was an old savonius and rarely put out much power and I
       left the battery outside in the elements for a year. I think
       the cold winter is hard on batteries if they aren't kept trickle
       charged.

       sounds to me like the collision knocked some stuff loose into
       the acid. Or the battery had a bad connection inside due to the
       collision and what you are seeing is carbon in the acid solution
       from the arching.
