We are debating whether or not to glue formers into the blades
or fasten to rotor/blade tips. There is a lot to consider.
Assembly, flexing, stress points. There is a tendency for the
upper blade to rock forward in high winds. This pinches the
blade as it moves diagonal. The hope is that the stress will be
spread over a wide area instead of just the LE/and TE points.
For this first testing we decided to glue formers into the
blades. The blades become very stiff and strong and will then
slide onto the spars. The blades float with about a 1/64"
clearance when the blade tips are bolted on. Without the
clearance the blades could be deformed as the bolts are
       tightened.
SUT chose a very strong adhesive called Seam Sealer. Once cured
it is slightly flexible but stuck for good. Because of the way
the blades are designed the adhesive just has to resist a
sheering force across a 12 sqin bond. Only use epoxy for areas
       that don't flex.

@ hgl I have been using the wing on the diy 75 for 6 months and
have not had any trouble with them. They have seen alot of
wind, snow, ice, and look like brand new!Now as far as the new 175
blades they have only seen 1week of service so far and not much
wind.I don't see any trouble with them holding up but that's Jmo
build at your own risk. They are a longer blades and are turning
       a bigger alt.

When I glue TE I open up wing and just put it on edge with no
fold in it, then close wing and force TE together with a thin
piece of steel like a yard stick but it has to be thin (has to
fit in TE good ) inside of wing . Then after glue has set (24 or
more HRS) I tape TE with masking tape on both sides of seam (app
1/8 wide) then use silicone( 100%) to seal seam from weather .
Also I have found that warming tube 2hrs before use helps it
come out a lot easier ! You need to clean up those old tips and
keep them on hand just for the times when you need one , I bet I
have 6 or more laying around (don't throw them out )

@ Nessprojects you getting all of this, your next ! you have
an arsenal of things to avoid LOL This is what testing is all
about finding what works and what does not.

I am trying to let it all sink in but the old grey matter
upstairs might not retain it all. ;D
Still got to work out what glue to use because `goop` is a alien
name to me.....I am sure it will all come out in the wash as
       they say.

kit? what products do you have on the other side of the pond ?
any all purpose glues that come in a tube and stick to metal,
       wood .
