Designing dual cylinder double action steam engine

Hi, I am starting to collect ideas and materials to fabricate a
dual cylinder steam engine. Each cylinder will be a single
action. I like the gear driven flywheel in the video. I should
be able to incorporate the idea with these plans to fabricate
dual cylinders for easy fabrication.

Piston size will be 1 inch. I am not sure how long the stroke
should be. I only need a 1/4 HP. Suggestions welcome.

a better looking engine but the same design as the earlier post

just basic concept drawing, there are better designs but I am
limited by what I can fabricate

here's what I was referring to. I just can't wrap my mind around
100psi steam. It's just too much for me.
Also I thought "all these steam engines are either piston or
turbine. What about a silicone rubber or beryllium diaphragm?
These hit and mis engines are cool. They run really rough when
just idling but when you put a load on the flywheel they fire
almost every stroke.

Thanks for posting. Awesome restoration. I like the flywheels
and gear configuration. After watching the disability steam
power scooter video that is the system I am trying to build, but
just for a stationary application. During the summer a sun
tracking parabolic dish could be used to generate steam. The
more I work on the monotube the more I realize its potential.
What could the diaphragm be used for????

Hi, interesting idea. Sounds really experimental. Maybe a option
for the future.

Hi, the video does not show that. He says that he using a 40
foot monotube with a electric powered water pump running at
about 100 psi and gets about 1 HP.
How are you going to add a exhaust to your design?????

Hi, this design looks like the easiest to fabricate for a dual
cylinder.
this is another option, based on the Stuart sirus design

Hi, requires no beveled gears to operate the valve.

interesting design, 4 cylinders, two piston sets with the same
power stroke, looks like a easy way to increase the power and
use common size materials for low cost fabrication
comments welcome
