Re: Starting flash "mono-tube" boiler fabrication

Hi, your right. It will not last long. The coils ends are not in
the right place. I am just trying to get something running
before it snows. If I can get it running than I can make
modifications.

I'm wondering what the final material would be?
Welded 1/4" sheet?
Cast iron?
All firebrick interior with regular brick exterior? [my pick]
Clay? [chimera]
Are you planning on recycling the water? [condenser] now that
would be interesting, pressure-wise.

Hi, I am learning the engine is the easy part, the boiler is the
problem area. :)

Completed boiler fabrication, should be testing soon.

Hi, I test fired the boiler. I would post a video but watching
every threaded joint drip water is not that exciting. :(
I have to tighten every joint and make some alterations to the
rocket stove. The pump works.

Hi, I completed repairs but still leaking. Max pressure was 30
psi. Opened bypass valve got about 5 seconds of steam. I think
the rocket stove is to small, I have to fabricate a larger
rocket stove. I think my flash boiler main coil is wrong. The
way it is coiled allows the entire coil to be filled with water.
This maybe another problem but I am not sure. Suggestion
welcome.

Hi, I am changing the boiler configuration to resemble the
image.

New design looks good. Doesn't resemble a monotube like you were
working on. Is that your design or did you find it somewhere?

Hi, I will still be using the monotube inside the fire tube. I
googled coil boiler Images and found it. I really do not
understand how a monotube boiler works. I can follow this
configuration. Safety is still a major concern. I am just taking
slow and keeping the fire small. It is still leaking at the
manifold. I may have to braze the threaded connections.
