       Speed control for DC motor???
Try searching PWM (pulse width modulate dc motor control).
555 timer will provide the timing 2n3055 the drive (maybe).

Hi, thanks. 555 timer is probably the easiest way to go. Maybe
it can just turn a fet on and off.
       this may work, thanks

Hi, I closed all the valves and turn on the water pump. Max
pressure was about 80 psi. The motor really labors and all most
stops on the power stroke. It looks like a motor speed control
may not be needed. I will perform a live steam today and post
results when available. Is there anything I can do to gain more
of a mechanical advantage to reduce the load on the wiper motor
and increase the work at the pump???? suggestion welcome :-\

I've used that very circuit before. it works. first one. i
dontthinkthe second one with the fet would work since pin 3 is
       output not pin 7.

here is the circuit so you can change frequency as well as duty
       cycle.
Might come in handy for a retro load control

Hi, thanks for the info. I tested the water pump with steam in
the boiler. Ran the engine for about a hour. I received
information about the water problem, I have to decrease the
piston diameter. So basically I have a working system. Now it is
time to upgrade. All the problems are solved and thanks for all
the help. The air tank safety valve did not last long. I will
start to insulate the system. The boiler size is good for
running small engines at high RPM's. Starting work on
       fabricating a steam engine.

       That's great.
My 1/4 HP engine has a 2" piston and runs nicely on 30-60 psi at
about 200-400 rpm. That's normal for a low pressure steam
engine. A short stroke will run at higher rpms. Fun stuff!
I use an ULKA espresso machine pump off a 12/110 volt inverter.
It is activated by a water sensor circuit. When water runs low
the pump comes on and there is a delay RC that causes the pump
to run about 2 seconds past full. Depending on how hard the
engine is pushed the pump comes on about every 10-15 seconds.
Ideally the pump would be mechanical run off the shaft and feed
the boiler close to what it uses per stroke. Excess would
bypass back to condensate via a bypass solenoid.
