       LYNX,
       :)
Is that the reason they call them "popit valves" because they
pop open for such a short time?

Hi, I insulated some of the pipes and it helps. After reviewing
a earlier article the info says I should have 4 times the length
of copper coils inside the boiler to have a sustainable working
pressure for a longer period of time for a engine this size. I
am going to fabricate a smaller engine and develop the control
system before before adding the additional copper coils. I also
found info saying that for natural circulation I should increase
the number of down runners. Circulating the boiler water
       increases steam bubble separation.

I was wondering if a diapragm or a bladder of some sort could be
       used instead of a piston?????

Hi, if one could be found that could handle the pressure, maybe
a auto fuel pump could be used? I modified the cam lobes, it
helps. Using the air compressor as a fresh water feed pump is
working but because of the small size of the boiler it is really
easy to flood the boiler. Adding to much water at one time
basically shuts down steam production. Downsizing the engine
should help with establishing the water feed rate. It should
give more time to observe cause and effect.

       another flash boiler.
I am increasing the length of the super charger coil and
decreasing the height of the LaMont portion of the boiler. This
will decrease the length of the exposed pipe outside the boiler
and should increase the area for steam inside the boiler. I hope
       to post results soon.

Seems impressive. Very simple set up, 10 psi isn't much but ,
they don't even have an enclosed fire. If they had the coils in
a insulated chimney wouldn't that improve it? Also they seem to
be using a turbine instead of reciprocating type engine. I can't
wait to see what you come up with.
Take a look at the putt putt boats on youtube. the boiler is
       very thin and it expands.

Hi, I never completely understood how a flash boiler worked. It
appears to be all about the water pump. You need a high pressure
pump. All my boiler modification are is changing the coils so
the LaMont area is smaller and the super charger coil is larger.
This reduces the amount of exposed tubing outside the boiler and
will reduce heat loss. I will also have less water to boil at
the bottom of the boiler. I communicated with the fabricator of
the scooter project and he is using 3 pancake coils total
length of 40 feet and he generating over 200 psi at idle. Still
searching for water pump, without it, it will not work. I might
have to buy one off ebay.

Hi, I completed the modifications. The pressure from a cold
start increases faster but I did not increase run time. At one
point during engine operation the pressure stabilized and
increased for a short period of time. The steam to the engine is
dryer, I need not have water exiting the exhaust as I did in the
past. The other variable is btu's. I am going to increase the
size of the fire box. I have been intentionally keeping the fire
       small.
Yes, insulating the coils will help. What I found interesting
about the video is, as he was pumping water into the boiler the
       turbine RPM increased.
I have to fabricate some pancake coils and add a small automatic
water pump, it should help. Decreasing the engine size will also
help. I am on the right the track.
