I have had troubles with large slabs of polyester resin
shrinking, cracking. Might be worth more experimenting. The
       hardener is pretty toxic too.
My best results have been with slow cure low viscosity 2 part
crystal clear epoxy, but it is expensive and has to cure for 24
       hours.
I will try better techniques with the urethane.

       update ;D
pneumatic oil used for your air compressor an tools ..is the oil
of choice that i have chosen ,i have used it on many
occasion..... an it is a rust inhibitor also good test for oil
lubricating is to rub it between fingers if it dose not soak
into your skin the viscosity is perfect for lubricating motors,
mechanical mechanisms. high speed.or low spindle an bearings...
i watched the 175 as it was resurrected once again ..an began to
spin immediately slowly it lowered an I had a chance to
watch it seat within tolerance to generate voltage ..it is
generating on first reading will document voltage output..
I picked up another battery today deep cycle marine 12v it was
at 11.5 an now is 12.5.. 15$ core charge...looks brand
new...thank to my source ...the oil is a very good choice for
spindle an bearing in vawt..it is up an start up speed is still
4.4- 5 mph..spinning very well ..you are absolutely correct lynx
little longer in the mold just more molds.. 2" hub will be
great...it will eliminate galvanic electrolysis if you can
stick with one brass is a good metal i did take play out of
top coupling with tape an 2 lock washer an 2 nuts no wobble
       ...square an true
also sut i saved the wings ;) using GE white all weather
silicone seal great product..i think i will use it for making
solar panels it stick to metal great..water tight seal had a
hard time removing it .. also finished installing security
cameras..24 hour surveillance.. thank you lynx this was a great
learning experience sharing knowledge an experimenting i
believe your 175 DIY kit is a success... now we will watch
performance record data an analyze results

i might also mention that i reversed the 1 /4 -20 bolts an came
up threw the( magnet) plate side with 1/4-20 x 1" 1/4 length
bolt... i will watch for an vibration which my loosen lock nut
but i doubt it (i like nylon lock nut as a fastener).. will
       happen..an i may replace them with 1" 1/2 x 1/-20 an two nylon
lock nuts. i did add nylon lock nuts to the top of rotor arm
with body washer on top of rotor arm an dab them with silicone
to prevent any corrosion.. it is much easier to remove rotor
arm this way...while pressing body washer into wood with nylon
       lock-nut.

CG , i agree i could have chose a more soothing title but one
question still remains why did the center bolt come loose? that
has me scratching my head..? vibration, QC over-site? i did not
check it to see if it was tight?.. just say-n etc.. , it is an
experiment an many things have been discovered..they are noted
an addressed an have been corrected.. i assume cost effective
changes will be made according to lynx, i discussed in detail
all the things i experienced, i can eliminate the whole topic...
if lynx so desires.. but it is wise to keep it posted for future
reference... if lynx wants it changed so be it... he is team
leader an we are all part of his team....i would be happy to
change the title... if that is what lynx demands an wishes... i
understand what you are saying... the issues have been
addressed ...an changes at his command will be implemented..i
just document analyze an report ..it is all good in
discovery.. in any project there will be revisions made.. at the
moment it was a very dramatic an critical experience..that has
lead to revision.. if lynx so desires to change an implement..

The only thing I don't like is the Title "Part 1 of 2" It has
me on the edge of my seat and up all night anxiously fearing
       "Part 2"
Over the past five years I have encountered 100's of design
flaws. So really it could be titled "Design Flaws Part 1 of
       693"
Just to remind everyone. Wind is not the greatest power source
except like solar it's free. But harnessing this little bit of
energy has to be kept low cost. There's no sense in spending
1000's of dollars to catch pennies of energy. I wish it could
be made like a kite, but those darn +45 mph gusts tend to tear
       things up.
