wing airfoils for 175 DIY kit
By: happygolucky Date: June 12, 2014, 7:24 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
@ LYNX AN @SUT finally my youngest..made a set of beautiful air
foils for the 175 DIY... while i was helping make mag plates..
       yesterday
@LYNX..want to run this by you..
he was looking at the other original airfoils after he
finished.. an said they are still drying but tacky sticking
some better every day.. he said it will be dry but you could
scrap it away always.... wrong caulk but wright stuff for
gutters.. he said i can salvage them dad..
he asked an had a idea rather good idea for a simple fix an
salvage solution.. waste not want not ..rather than tear them
apart an risk damage..etc he said they make that tough super
light wight gorilla adhesive all weather proof camo tape...
very strong an light.... he made a suggestion that sut had
mentioned also... they are straight no twist..an fit perfect
threw spars.... he said could we maybe put that tape around
the top an bottom outside aluminum to former to seal..an
strengthen kinda like racing stripes..... all off adhesive is
       packed in an around everything..
an run a very thin bead of latex silicone around top an bottom
an top of former for waterproof seal..its not going to add any
weight if any very little an it will fix the problem.. he says
its strong an sticks to everything he uses it outdoor when bow
hunting....he said he would use the turbine at deer camp..
i said well son, i think the wings would work, that way! but its
about keeping them strong water proof an lightweight balanced
is there a seal bead of caulk flexible around wing foil outside
to rotor top an bottom.. or do they float on top rotor arm top
an bottom with no bead of flexible caulk .. goop
what he made is all snug an custom fit he did a great job... an
had fun... fit spars right threw them all with ease nothing
needed to help guide thank's tyler..

The way the blades are designed I don't think you need to add
any adhesive or tape. Adding weight is not going to be a good
idea. But feel free to try.
Yes, they float on the spars trapped by rotor arm and blade tip.
       Do not glue them on.

I would just use them as is! from what I have been told there is
not much force on TE, whats the worst that can happen they split
       and come apart .

i concur... i found out you can mix some @cg...Goop with the DAP
flashing an gutter adhesive on first airfoil blade that had
DAP mixed that little tacky not dry just tacky, bit it dried
well amazing it is dry an flexible it sealed it....but i would
not recommend Dap... i just experimented.. and got luck!
also i had a small ding in one of my new brown air foils ,
thought how could i get it out ?so i took a carbon arrow shaft
no insert any soft end stuck it in the former spar hole an
passed it back an forth til it disappeared with my hand over
       it..neat trick it works..
       @ lynx / @sut.. think...just a suggestion always thinking.. JMHO
a middle former would make very tight.. stronger aluminum
wing..it dose give in the middle with no support may
experiment..later.. on airfoil .. it is made to print
specifications protocol finally..two finished air foils..one
       brown an one white..
going to scotch bright a small brown sample ...an spay paint
white with Sherwin Williams spray latex.. just curious to see
       out come....
