I have several gas burners available....that I can use to heat
my coils to see how the coils preform.....should there be no
       sun....
       it's a lot like with windmills....put up a new mill and there's
       no wind around......
I'm in a position where if there is no sun.....i'll use gas.....
I live in a city and timber burning is not an option for me
....so gas is my standby.....always got to have a plan B....

I wanted to get a understanding of my turbine needs....
so I connected the turbine to a 1/2 litre Wilseco
boiler.....30psi......I could only run the turbine for about
2mins....pressure kept dropping down....not enough volume from
       boiler....[img][/img]

so I thought I would connect the turbine to my big boy
       boiler....talk about over kill.....at 30psi with mega
       volume...no problem....
I think that my solar flash steam needs will be inline with the
Wilesco boiler BUT with a higher volume of steam.....this will
be I think the real trial and error part....and based upon the
water feed pump that I end up using....I will have 2 types
available to try....a small volume and a large volume.....I will
       post as these happen...
one of the bummers of living near the south pole....most of the
bits and pieces that I wish to use are not available
locally.....I have to get stuff from the
       US...England...China.....and everything takes time....postage
       time.....[img][/img]

I had to get 25 feet of 3/16 inch copper tube from
       England....hopefully this week....
the second water feed pump from China....6 to 24volt....80 psi @
       24v......I think volume @ 250mls/per min......I will need to
double check this when this arrives....end of the month.
safety valve from the US...maybe this week....
1/4 ME taps and die locally.....
half of this project is the hunting and gathering of the bits
       and pieces.....

       hello members...
well the greatest plans of mice and men....I thought I would be
playing with a horizontal coil...but because it is winter in
Australia at the moment the sun says that my coil has to be in
the vertical position....ok no problem...I have to adjust things
       to suit....
this is along the direction that I need to take for this time of
       year...[img][/img]

I received the water feed pump from a Chinese company called
microcosm...this guy is riggy-digg....a steam enthusiast...
this electric pump will run from 6v to 24v depending on ones
needs....with a pressure of up to 85psi....I think that this
       will cover my needs....
volume.....I need to organize an electrical power supply to
suit....with some sort of variable control that is suitable to
       my needs....[img][/img]

the coil in the above pic is 3/16 inch dia....I have 5/32inch
and 1/8inch on the way......one of these diameters will be
       suitable I believe....
I do not have someone's example to follow for this project....it
appears that I am travelling a path not well worn...no
       problems...
I am not concerned about internal resistance on my tubes because
I am using a water feed pump....so what if I use 20psi to over
come resistance...when I have another 65psi available up my
       sleave.....[img][/img]

this project seems to be very....trial and error...suck and
       see....empirical.....
I think once some parameters are established then I can apply
some standard steam math to see what's going on....
anyway...I believe that I have the main bits and pieces
required...I just need to do a bit of experimenting....
       Stanley says go for it.....[img][/img]

       hello members,
I made a set-up for the small feed pump from china...I'm of the
opinion that the small tubes that I'm playing with will need a
       suitable small pump....
this set-up will feed 250mills of water in 6mins
@12volts.....should I need more this motor can handle up to
24volts,with a corresponding increase in volume I would imagine
       ....
so now I have to build my coil arrangement.......the plan is a 2
coil set-up.....one 3/16 coil as shown in the above post, as a
       pre-heater....then a 1/8 coil laid into the pre-heater which I
hope will be the steamer tube.....both tube arrangements
soldered together to be as one bundle....the 1/8 coil soldered
into the valleys of the 3/16 coil.

what I'm aiming for is a suitable mass of tube exposed to the
       concentrated sun light in a 5 or 6 inch diameter....my 3/16 tube
is 4meters in length....if I can get 3meters of 1/8 dia onto the
pre-heater coil that would give me 7meters/21feet of tube
       exposed to concentrated sun light...
i'll let you guys know what happens as soon as I know....
