Noise from roof mounted units? (and mounting issues?)

       Hi,
I read the literature and saw mention of roof mounting, or using
a satellite dish mounting bracket. I am wondering about noise
and vibration from the unit carrying into the house especially
during higher winds (here in the Portland, OR area we usually
get some storms with 40-50mph gusts each year). Every 30-40
years we get a storm/typhoon with much stronger winds (50-90mph
gusts or more). IIRC, the most recent two of the latter storms
       were in 1962 and 1996.
Do any of you reading this forum have personal experience with
roof mounted units? How much noise to they make in higher
winds? Any suggestions for noise dampening? I am interested in
installing a larger unit (maybe the upcoming "360" DIY).
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and incites on mounting
       and noise issues.
       Philip

Hi Phreich and welcome to the forum....
I did once mount a small turbine on the wall of my house and I
can tell you that when they pull into charge they send a
horrible humming noise throughout the house, my advice is to
mount it on its own pole in the garden or at least not bolted to
your house. It would drive you crazy ;D. Maybe others will
comment that have solved that problem or know of a solution.

The sound from an alternator attached to a house is audible. No
way around it. I agree that mounting isolated in some way from
       the house is better.
