Micro hydro

As I had mentioned in another thread, I have a year round stream
flow here on the home place with about 300 ft of head. I am
going to put together a micro hydro setup with a small
collecting pond at the source, and start with 4 or 6" pipe at
the inflow, and reduce in steps to plant level with 3/8" or 1/2"
nozzle to a pelton turbine (or 2). Will a scaled version of
your radial alternator work well with this? I am thinking it
may just be the ticket! Awesome site, and your vids of all your
projects are outstanding! I really like the barrel gasifying
steam generator, I want to make one of a 55 gal drum but bump
the working pressure to 160-180 with a pop-off safety around
200-220 psi. (Shooting for about 10hp output capacity). One
thing at a time! Starting out with the seagull75. Will post
progress of projects on here. Thanks again!

Murdock,
Thanks for joining the forum, welcome. For Micro Hydro, you
would probably be better to use a proven integrated system like
this

But, if you want to get creative you could use a water wheel and
experiment with gearing to a aircore PMA like the Gull 160 alt.
I think you would end up spending more money and a lot more time
trying to reinvent the micro Hydro system. But this isn't my
area of expertise at all. Your stream with its 300 foot drop
couldn't be more ideal.

Thanks for the link. I will be studying more on the subject as I
get into that phase of my power plan. I will share my "journey"
here for all to see.

Sadly, no updates yet. Been busy with work and other things. I
am getting closer to building things. Will post progress when it
happens. I definitely don't work as fast as you CG or HGL!! Some
of you guys must never sleep!
