well @CG , yes that was in the early stages of trial an errors
wood may not been seasoned correctly, grain ran the wrong way..
bought the wood oak an hickory you ever heard of Sinew process?
when gorilla glue first came out it was the new for the wood
worker.... like new titebond 3, friends say it dose not stick to
certain woods... i assume , never tried it .. (all about the
material an application your exactly right).. titebond 2 is
better jmho. yes, i do understand its about the application
process..i think its great you could use luan, good thinking is
great material, i have used as underlayment ..
i love science,an experimenting, very fortunate to learn from my
       dad, he was a thinker/tinker
yes @CG ,many things i have not done, flew an plane, on bucket
list ,lasersaber vid the best, so cool para sailing,i did hang
glide.... make robotic limbs/ suit for disabled. have not used
amazing goop no punn , you have my interest, your a smart man
@CG, i admire you.. making a VAWT, understand electronics your
gift, like you i'm learning still, maybe old soul in an old
body from past life, Karma? just a gift from God," if any man
lack wisdom or knowledge ask god" i believe that! understanding
the 90% of the brain, we don't use. an so much more..

i stand corrected @ cg..i did seal the glue on the water
proofing side ....as i recall ..my experience was now, that i
look at my notes an memory it was swelling in the joint
lamination..left a visible glue joint.. titebond did not, swell
between the lamination points... i did not want to see a glue
line no glue joint that's why, i changed materials...to titebond
glue an then went to ea-40... an a press seamless lamination's
unless they have have changed the formula.. i asked the company
about using as a adhesive like epoxy..for wood to brass inserts
threaded n wood using the glue they yes... i could..but it
swelled an cracked the wood around the insert after close
examining some others i saw the fractured area / broke wood..
still stuck to gorilla glue an brass threaded insert..ouch it
knocked me in the head got a goose egg on the noggin it did....
50# pull..smack an crack..i still have the photos.. so your
right its about the application an stress involved..an also the
material you would think hard wood under stress would not crack
or brake so then i started picking an drying my own
       wood..gorilla glue is strong!

Anybody have suggestions for the 75's blade tips mounting. I
lost one today that had a flat headed bolt epoxy'd directly on
top of wood spar. I've also drilled to ends in the past, but
3/8 dowel can't handle to much drilling or to big of screws .
Think I've seen double business end screws/bolts, but don't know
what they are called or how to get them in spars.
Oh to complicate, i have foam blades, and no wooden blade
       former.

No bracing yet. I know four foot blades will need it, but my
3foot have made it through 70+ mph wind. Probably the only good
       luck for a bad location!
Yeah, the plan was to put bracing to the bolt glued on top of
te spar, or mid of blade tip... Yeah probably wouldn't help
       much..
Doesn't bracing strength come from spars even when there is a
       wooden blade former?

Maybe I could carefully re-screw into dowels cut the head off,
so I could slip on blade tip and nut(from "wrong" end) . That
sounds like it might be in the 75's spirit. I will add bracing
after I make tips secure. Then four foot!

       @otis under
  HTML https://goodwinds.com/
       look under materiel an
inserts or custom make .. you can see how i e took arrow insert
aluminum an epoxied into homemade spar then used 8-32 you can
saw a 10-24 an probably use fiberglass rod from this company
....you have to look up.375 OD an figure what size ID thread to
use... the size rod an cut to length an add your lock nut an
blade tip back on..hope it helps...but then you may already know
       all this..

@hgl Didn't know. Knew you had suggestions for joining spar
halves... I was hoping for a trip to home depot, or materials
that arent special order, but I appreciate your response and
that does sound worth looking into.. Thanks.

i went to my hardware an bought tomato stakes just so happen's
they a are a few dollars an hollow plastic coated aluminum i
think 5/16 sand ridges off should be 3/8 then or keep it
5/16 i would watch wall thickness on former.. a 2117 aluminum
arrow with in insert slide right in an epoxy or you can try an
find the new Easton extra large insert 2219 cabelas i found last
packet dunhams.. an just use fiberglass rod inserted in tomato
stick one piece imsert an cut a pice of arrow length hillbilly
engineering ..you'll see what i mean..... or just epoxy larger
insert in... i think it need to be beefed up tho i believe
outward centrifugal thrust is at the blade tips that's why the
beefed up bracing at the top of air foil to rotor..use a old
       band strap..from the lumber yard..
Lowes has fiberglass rods for 2 dollars an you can insert those
in tomato stick an use arrow insert an screw or threaded rod.. i
have not don it but was thinking of liquid nails..when i do i
will report back ..i have not made a 75 yet but looking forward
       too.. looked over drawings ....
