Switching between solar and grid without tieing

Something probably others have done, but I've just sorted out
running the house lighting from solar chaged batteries and an
inverter while still having the option of running from grid
power. I've used a DPDT relay that when energised by power from
the inverter, connects inverter power to the house lighting
circuit. If that power runs out, or I chose to switch off the
inverter, the lighting circuit instead connects bck to grid
power. Inverter power and grid power are kept seperate and the
little relay switches so fast that there is no perceptible dip
in the lights. The relay only draws about 3 watts and currently
the inverter is operated on a timer so is only cuts in as it
       begins to get dark.
We have had several power cuts in my area due to winter storms
bringing down power lines, this is more about resilience than
       cutting power bills....
