ABS Plastic Blades

I ordered some white extruded 0.060" ABS plastic sheet cut to
the right dimension for the Gull 160. It is fairly stiff
material, UV resistant, thermally stable, high tensile strength.
I will experiment with bending it to the airfoil shape and
bonding the trailing edge. I am hoping just three formers will
support the shape. Evidently acetone makes a good bond with
ABS. We'll see.
If this works, making a blade will be very simple and fast.

Heat tape? Heat gun?
Your going to need heat to bend. 060" aren 't you?

I received the ABS cut to size. It is quite stiff. I held it
over the stove for a few minutes and bent to the airfoil.
Worked well, but it does spring out without formers to keep the
chord length. I will play with it some more. Definitely easy
and a good looking glossy white blade.

what you 'll need is a master form that's undersized then bend.
when it springs back it will be almost correct.

What is the weight of the ABS plastic when cut to proper size
for the 160

1 Blade for the Gull 160 7.5" chord x 19.75" long is 280 grams
or 10 oz.

@lynx were there longevity issues with the original plasic/foam
gull blades or are you just looking for faster production?

Just looking for a faster way, more economical way to make
blades. The current foam composite blades hold up very well,
but take about 2.5 hours to make. I'd rather just order blades
from a vendor that look and work great. I think I have got the
solution, and ABS is not it.
Don't tell the guys in China, but 2 part blades made from
injected EPS foam, (foam like you see in a computer box that is
molded to cushion during transport) If the finish is smooth it
can be painted or left white.
My issues are different than if you were just making one
turbine. My goal is to make turbines affordable and I'm not
there yet.

seems like cheap flat blades might work. (with correct AOA for
such) . if you want cheap and fast construction.
Then use a buck or boost depending on pma type (high voltage or
high current) .
would like to see the abs pictures.
