       Powering 250 watts 24/7

If I am reading this correctly you will need 200 watts 24/7 just
to run the refrigerator. To get this done you will need four 24
v solar panels and a Gull 160 VAWT. On a sunny windy day you
will be putting 400-500 watts into the battery bank. On a
cloudy windless day you will be getting about 60 watts. On a
cloudy windy day - 160 watts. At night - 2-150 watts depending
on wind. For periods of dark and no wind the batteries will
       supply the power.
A good deep cycle battery will give you about 50 amphours.
Since you need about 10 amps, that's just five hours of backup.
So you need to have enough batteries in parallel to get that to
       about 20 hours.
That means you need eight 12 volts in a configuration to give
       you 24 volts, 2 across, 4 parallel.
The lighting and small appliances don't take much power so that
is your easy luxury on weeks where sun and wind are plentiful.
You would only need to watch your power during extended periods
       of cloudy windless days.
I have two 150 watt panels that actually put out 135 watts in
typical conditions. I could get closer to the 150 watts if the
positioning was dead on perfect alignment.
You might be able to bring the cost down on this install if you
search for deals on solar, find used batteries and pulse charge
them back to life, and ask me for a discount on the Gull 160.

I just got the seagull75 plans. I live in the NW Oregon Coast
Range, wind power will be moderate to good, solar will be good
for 6-8 months most days, winter is Rain! I have a creek with
year round flow and about a 300 ft drop on my place, I am
planning on using your radial alt design and incorporating that
unit micro hydro, wind and solar, I am also going to work on a
steam generator capable of 10 hp or so, so I can have power to
run wood production machinery. (We have a tree farm with lots of
timber). We already hear with wood, just need to get the
electrical power generation going. I like the idea of point of
use power for lighting and modular mini "grid" set up on the
home place, utilizing multiple sources of power for
redundancy(the aircraft maintenance background coming through
there). Do you have plans for the 160 wind plant? Or is it only
available in purchased completed form? What region of the
country are you located? Your videos are awesome, and I really
appreciate all the effort you have put in to put your
information and results out there for others!!
