My attempt at drawing below !
Their is something different about the lights that the
circuit does not like ! I put in the 2700k light with a new
transistor and it lit drew .44 a put in 5000k light and draw
goes to 9.44 a instantly ! then put back in 2700k light and it
will not work but the coil makes a ticking sound when i connect
the 12v batt

Your drawing is correct. The primary looks as if it is wound
opposite, but then it wouldn't work at all. I am sure your ties
to collector come off the start of both primary and secondary.
One other note, I have had bad results from too large a gauge
magnet wire. I have my best results with secondary in the 24-30
awg range and primary can be 22-24 awg.
Some bulbs are not designed for this circuit. It's best to test
one with an amp meter connected in the primary lead from the
battery. If amps go high it means the transistor is just
switching on and will overheat quickly. I don't keep up with
all the new brands and avoid bulbs over 6-7 watts. I would
rather add another 6 watt bulb.
If a bulb doesn't work on the circuit put it in the house. It's
still a good investment.

Yep both primary and secondary starts to collector, that's where
i made the first mistake while making this circuit and now I
don't even have to look at diagram to assembly it (lol )
What is the puzzle to me is they both are made by eco-smart and
6w / 40 watt equivalent just different K value (2700k / 5000k )
I think I will just use them to light the garage with 120 v in
place of f40 cool white florescent.

UPDATE
I went and exchanged the 4 eco-smart 40 w 5000k bulbs for 4
eco-smart 40 w 2700 k bulbs re made whole circuit with new
transistor ! plugged it in to 9 v battery and didn't work! so
checked all connections and found 1 bad connection in light
fixture, put in light bulb and got it working YEA ! . Put in
2nd bulb and it wouldn't light so I thought may be not enough
power in 9v battery so hooked it up to 12v battery (with amp
gauge in line ) drawing about .60 a but 2nd light wouldn't
light, put 3rd light in next fixture and it lit .To make this
story shorter I found out that 2 of the 4 new bulbs wont work in
this circuit but will work in 120v light socket just fine! go
figure! so currently I have 3 in line that will work drawing
about .65a I quit, time to box it up nice and solder everything
then see what happens. ( 3 out of 5 not bad odds ) lol

I made the small snap on choke 1 easier to do and will fit in a
small box I like it but the circuit still hates me

Be neat, don't have your work area all cluttered and messy! Yea
like that will happen! its always messy Thx for all of your
help and tips !

Okay I got this circuit all done boxed up neat ,hooked it up to
a 12volt battery, hook my amp meter on it and it was reading .72
with 3 lights . That's a little low but at least it's
running! 1 light .40 I am a little surprised that just
putting it all in the box dropped the readings .

Now don't touch the box or move it. It works!
.72 amps for three lights is about right, 0.4 amps for one bulb
is on the low side but safer than going for .5 amps and being
over. The circuit will jump up at thresholds. If you know the
exact number of bulbs you want full bright you could tune by
adding or subtracting primary.
You may find distributing light is better than trying for full
bright on the bulbs.
Today I was quality testing a batch going out in the mail. My
twelve volt battery was exhausted and wouldn't turn the electric
screwdriver anymore and I was too lazy to find a charged
battery. I was surprised it fully lit the bulb at 11.2 volts.

Ok running the ljlsc right now to test it! currently its
drawing 0.76a at 12.04v and the temp of transistor is at 79
degrees after 30 minutes of running on 3 eco-smart 6 watt bulbs.
I have the 12v battery hooked up to small solar panel and I
don't think it will drain the battery . What I plan to do
instead of making a switch to convert it to 120v is put a
connector on the ljlsc so I can unplug the lights from it when
battery drops below 11.50v and plug it into the 120v plug next
to it, that is light switch controlled so I will be able to use
the same lights on house hold current .

@SUT
Sounds perfect. Good amp draw for three bulbs - safely below
rated watts and probably decent light. Your plan for switching
over is safe and smart. You got 'er'dun!
