I am using eco - smart 40 watt! 1 at present time but plan to
use 6 more should I put them in series or parell thx in
advance

Ok I re wound whole ljlsc and made it tighter I have about 28
turns on primary 100 t on sec. switched the transistor to new
one ! got the draw down to 0.38 with one light. I noticed a drop
in draw after I switched to a new transistor so may be it had
some damage done to it with all my mess-ups

SUT
I aim for .5 amps with one ECOsmart bulb 6 watt
12 v x .5 amps = 6 watts
When you add 2nd, third, fourth ... bulbs the average amp draw
will go down until you get to about 6-7 bulbs and the circuit
jumps back up.
I adjust by pulling turns off the primary one at a time and
making note of the change.

@ LW thx for that input on adjusting primary winding
Now for the next Q! I have many transformers laying around and
was wondering what if I took one of them and used it to power a
LJL-Xcs so I tried it and it works fine its a ( 9v 850 mv )
transformer but the question is how efficient would that be ? I
know the transformers are not efficient (well I have been told )
I suppose I would need to take a current reading off of the 120v
powering the whole thing to compare the 2 (battery VS
transformer setup ) right

I thought you also had a diode from ground to the base...(stripe
at the base)?

@ neald843 I think the diode was use in a previous version and
with the change in wiring they found it was not needed
Before I wire this ljlsc permanently in the garage I had a
thought !!! I have a slide switch (double throw double pole ) I
think that's what its called, it has 6 connectors on back with a
slide switch so if you slide the switch to 1 side it connects 2
center with 2 outside, slide it the other way it connects the
center 2 with the other 2 outside . Now hears my thinking if I
connect the 2 center poles to the lights + / - then hook 2
outside to battery 12 v and remaining 2 outside to 120 v I
could have the light run off of either 12 v or 120 v just by
sliding the switch, is my thinking correct ? On the side of the
switch it reads 120 v 6a / 240 v 3a and will that switch be
heavy enough.

Well that Idea is on back burner! I had a melt down today with
the ljlsc I went to HD and bought 4 more eco-smart 40w led
lights put 1 in circuit and smoke came out of coil ( Rats )
needless to say it also took out the transistor . I was looking
at the new bulbs and they say 120v 60hrtz only and these bulbs
are different on the package it says 5000k where the other bulbs
say 2700k . Now they both say 40w equivalent drawing 6w of power
so do you think its drawing more power or did I pinch one of the
coil wires in the choke and caused the short there .
(I am beginning not to like this circuit or electronics hates
me)

Nope its led at least that what it said on package. May be they
changed the circuitry in the new bulbs

yes
But what i thought was strange is coil started to smoke thats
why I thought of pinched wire in choke

@SUT
I feel bad this circuit gives you such grief. I've never had
smoke come from the coil. Can you draw what you think the
circuit is? Does the bulb light for a time? How bright?
