Update @ CG and @ Lynx,
Good news and bad news.
All of my transistors are bad!
Positive meter lead to Common and negative meter lead to
Emitter on ohmn scale gave 1.
However connecting Base to Common did not give an reading on the
meter it stayed at 1.
I thought i was going crazy, thanks CG for that test tutorial.

CG,
I am trying to look into ordering components now.
I have to be very careful however due to shipping charges and
customs duties.
Yep you do not want to image what costs are like.( i call it the
dark side of living in paradise)
I will keep you posted.
Best

Some LED bulbs are not well suited to this circuit. I would
rebuild the circuit and only use the EcoSmart bulb at first.
Then try others and watch the amps. If they draw way too much
amperage, disconnect and don't use them. Message me your
address and I will send you what you need.

@CG Too late to be a Christmas gift but it would be a great new
year's start.
@Lynx i am considering your offer, kindly check your messages.
I am biting the bullet and will buy at least one transistor
locally for a test tomorrow( cost may be tough but i want this
light!).
I will be also buying new wire for my coils.
A clean start!
Keep fingers cross!!
Thanks
Andre

@CG,
None of the above, though i did try Parts Unlimited but no luck
there. World Electronics seems to be a new company i will give
them a call tomorrow .
Some people here will source stuff in from the USA and then
resell on their own to offer a better price, a guy who runs an
electronics shop is connecting to some of these guys to get me a
good price.
Will let you know tomorrow.

Success at last!
I was able to get the transistors for 2.50 US, which is not a
bad price considering shipping and duties.
I have changed every thing my coil wire which was on the thick
side and my bulb socket.
My configuration is 14 turns 22 gauge primary, 100 turns 30
gauge secondary and 9v dry cell battery as power supply.
Here are my findings:-
Worked no name brand 2 watt led brand.
Worked for Lights of America 1.5 watt led light
Did not work for CFL 9 watt .
It is giving a weak flicker for the Ecosmart GP 19 6 watt bulb (
if i use 12v source do you think this will come on)
Questions did CFL and Ecosmart not perform because voltage is
too low?
Thanks Lynx and CG for patience and support

Good work. Yes, the EcoSmart will do better at 12 volts. A 9
volt will be pulled down to 8 volts with the ecosmart and
basically run very dim. Testing with a 9 volt is smart because
if something does go wrong with the setup it wont fry the
transistor.
Once you get this reliably running, you can adjust the primary
turns for you voltage. Fewer primary turns will boost the
output voltage and run the bulb brighter, but also use more
amps.
Are you planning on using a solar panel to keep the battery
charged? I have had good luck with 14 volt batteries and solar
panels. You don't need a charge controller. You can add a turn
or two to the primary with a 14 volt battery.

Guys,
I am having some wonderful fun enjoying this beautiful circuit.
( Thanks Lynx!)
Tonight will be spend conducting more testing, changing primary
turns and using different bulbs CFLs and LEDs.
I have a fairly large backyard which has no lighting at night,
my plan is to setup several lights to illuminate my yard at
night.
I will be eager to see how this goes.

Well I finally got this thing working ! I had the start wires
going to the light and battery + as soon as I changed them to
the collector presto it works ! now I checked the amp draw and
it was 0.94 and the transistor was warm to touch so If I remove
turns off of primary (heaver gauge 14 t ) will the amp draw go
down ? I originally had what I thought was 22 awg wire and amp
draw was 1.70 and when I replaced it with a thinner wire the
draw went down . For such a simple circuit it has caused me so
much grief But I am learning ! I think lol

Add some turns primary to quiet the amp draw. Some bulbs will
pull too much amperage no matter what. I haven't kept up on
testing bulbs. CG is probably more up to date on the best
bulbs.
