       Hey CG, Lynx and Ness,
Those of us who "lurk" (although I hate that word... it has an
       unnecessarily negative connotation),
*wish* we could contribute more! At the moment, my
contributions would be limited to comparing
the components of dead cfl bulbs and commentaries on splicing
3xAA LED lights strings (a success!).
If only these forums followed the "reddit" format and we could
       support you by "upvotes".

       Hi all,
I am new here and enjoy reading the posts.
It seems like the circuit has been evolving but I am unable to
find the latest circuit. Would someone be kind to post it
       please?
       Thanks!

It's been pretty much the same circuit that LaserSaber first
showed with the super joule ringer. The inductors have changed,
the turns, then the collector was used for the spikes instead of
reverse biasing the transistor. Then aircoils were used, which
have steadily gotten smaller and the ferrite added back. CG
here introduced the idea of LED connection back to base which
simplified the wiring. The current miniature version of the
LJL-xsc is almost back to the original SJR3.0, but with more
refined turns, gauge wire, addition of the dimmer, and a compact
       size.
The new version is the size of a standard wall switch plate and
tidied up a lot. It still has the self adjusting to load
capability that the original SJR3.0 had. One bulb will draw
rated watts. Then additional bulbs borrow some power with no
large loss of brightness until about 6-7 bulbs and the circuit
adjusts back up to full power. The dimmer eliminates the self
adjustment issue and bulbs can be run full bright or dim as
       desired.

Wouldn't this schematic fit the finished projects category and
       be placed in there

       Thanks
       here's my replication:
       14 turns # 22 and 100 turns # 30 on a 5mm clip on ferrite.

Great How does it work for you @Homebiz ? I need to build me 1
for the garage, All those florescent lights I have in there cost
bucks to run all the time and don't like the cold weather, so
they take forever to start ! cheaper to switch to led

Luv this little device. Built mine last nite from a choke off an
old HDMI cable laying around the house. i didn't use a pot but
it was running on a 9V for hours without dimming at all. I also
got it down to the size of a matchbox without any heating at
all. Thanks for the great work Lynx.
