Valkyrie's Taint Discussions
By: SkyThunder Date: June 9, 2025, 6:37 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Gonna have this for standard discussion of this, so there's
that.
Anyway, I'd like to add a classification-type for the Valkyrie's
Taints
HTML https://xyrinfe.miraheze.org/wiki/Valkyrie%27s_Taint,
but I
don't know what words would work.
The classifications are described as follows:
[li]Taints that have their effects negated if the Valkyrie
is poisoned[/li][li]Taints that do not have their effects
negated if the Valkyrie is poisoned[/li]
Looking at the "Valkyrie's Taint.txt" file we
have:

[tt]The classifications, as named by
Lavitka Horton, are as follows:
- Contortion-Type Taint
These bestow special abilites onto a Valkyrie once fully
matured that can be actively
used.
- Dichotomy-Type Taint
These bestow special abilities onto a Valkyrie that can be
considered as being both
Contortion- and Passive-Type Taints.
- Human Taint Modifier
These are Modifier-Type Taints that can only be applied to
the Human Taint, which can't
have any other Modifier-Type Taints. The Human Taint has a
maximum of one Human Taint
Modifier.
- Modifier-Type Taint
These alter the appearance or the duration of the Taint.
They generally do not have any
other changes. Most Taints can have a maximum of three
Modifier-Type Taints.
- Mutagenic-Class Taint
The Taint can be obtained through mutation of a Standard
Taint, or through mutation of
a specified Taint. These always have some other form of
requirement. It is possible to
gain this Taint without mutation, however.
- Passive-Type Taint
These bestow special, passive abilities onto a Valkyrie once
fully matured, such as
night-vision.
- Sealed-Class Taint
These Taints were impossible to attain, as the
requirement(s) had been sealed away; it
includes the fifteen sealed elements. These stack with the
other classifications, as
a result.
- Syncretism-Type Taint
These Taints are only available to Valkyrie fusions. Even
then, these Taints have very
strict requirements to attain. The first Syncretism-Type
Taints were discovered with
the first fusion of three Valkyries born in 2021 to Evan
O'Neill and Valkyrie Horton,
notably. These Taints are otherwise treated similarly to
Contortion-, Dichotomy- or
Passive-Type Taints. Because they are fusion-exclusive,
their rarities will be listed
as [XX] instead.
- Tomoe-Class Taint
The Taint's recovered eye contains a few "tomoe" (if you've
seen the Sharingan from the
"Naruto" series, then you've no doubt noticed the funny
black shapes in the eye; the
Sharingan can have one to three tomoe). These Taints start
off with one tomoe, but can
become stronger over time or through various events (such
as witnessing some traumatic
events or jubilation).
- Unbeknown-Type Taint
These are the Taints that do not fit any of the other
classifications, mainly because
too little about the Taints are
known.[/tt]

Given how it's written, I'm betting
Cib wrote the stuff in that file, during her self-loathing days.
But anyway, I'm including that excerpt so that we can at least
know what names to avoid for the new classifications.

Double-posting because I came across an Artificial Taint.
Not sure how to classify that one either, so I just went and
categorized its sole entry as such, for now.

So far, both Passive and Unbeknown-Type Taints have pages,
though only the latter has pages for its respective Taints.
I should not have drank that energy drink before bedtime because
now I'm wide awake and can't sleep.
Contortion-Type Taints also has its main page now. Zzz.

for the first one, maybe?
And for the second one, normalcy?

Thanks, I'm going with those.
The page for the Dichotomy-Type Taints is now up, too.
Ditto for Modifier-Type Taints and Syncretism-Type Taints.
This page
HTML https://xyrinfe.miraheze.org/wiki/Valkyrie%27s_Taint
looks much
nicer now, doesn't it?
Gonna need some clarity on Untainted
Valkyries. Is the lack of a Taint considered to be a
Normalcy-Class or a Toxidrome-Class Taint?
