I actually haven't read Garfield Minus Garfield (and I find it
funny how you start a thread with a comic whose main premise is
actually removing him) though I do remember a webseries called
Lasanga Cat which recreates the comic strips in a parodic but
surreal manner.

It's amazing how simply removing the main character changes the
entire context of the comic.
