Talk about PlayStation and games for its various platforms here.
...
Not that I have one but I'm sure some members would just love to
go on about the PS... what? Are we still on 4 or is 5 on the
way?

Thanks for making this thread, Bloom. The PS2, I believe, is one
of the best consoles in gaming. Many of my childhood favourites
were on this console, and even now, I enjoy playing games on it.

I have a lot of PS2 games, though I won't reveal them all.
The Bouncer is a great fighting game and I've yet to complete
Survival Mode. It's final boss Daraugon C Mikado is one of the
hardest bosses I've fought.
Gungrave is a great game, though it's soundtrack is forgettable
and it's far too short for it's own good. Kickass Mode is one of
the hardest things I've done, though it was worth it. The game's
main theme for me is on par with Team Fortress's 2 main theme.
Sonic Heroes wasn't too bad, though getting the Chaos Emeralds
is a pain (yes, that DAMN third Chaos Emerald still eludes me to
this day).
Shadow the Hedgehog was a vast improvement, despite the flawed
morality paths and how the endings are rendered pointless by
Last Story. My brother and I used to play it's multiplayer as a
kid (though it's rather barebones).
Dragon Quest VIII is a great RPG and I'd recommend it. The
cel-shaded graphics make it a visual delight to behold and the
orchestrated music is wonderful. Granted, level grinding can be
a bit annoying (cough Metal Slimes*) and in the post-game you'll
need to get strong if completing the Dragovian Trails. Yes, I
did use Action Replay so I'd get 30,000 EXP per fight; the
reason being that Darksteel Dragon is a pain in the ass. Went
level grinding so The Hero would get Dragon Soul. Aside from
that, I did fight legitimately (Ultimate Dragon's attacks
really hurt, doing 300+ damage per character.)

I remember playing a Ben 10 ultimate alien game on it and it was
the coolest thing ever.

I could say the same thing about SpongeBob SquarePants: The
Movie Game. It still holds up, and the Macho Time Trials are
brutal.

Flower dragon. :3
So we're up to the PlayStation 5 Pro but.
It's expensive and doesn't even have a disk tray apparently--
$699.99 -> R12,556.32
£699.99 -> R16,405.86
€799.99 -> R15,827.31
¥119,980 -> R15,108.84
As a South African, that's something I'll never afford (going by
price conversions anyway).
And I've seen a price of R14999,00 for it, going by a Google
search. 💀

Ugh, prices like that are disgusting. I'm sure these consoles
cost far less when I was a kid. Oh well, thank goodness for PS2
mods such as FreeMcBoot and a litany of other features that
allow you to play a variety of games without a disc. And also
the R4 catridges for Nintendo DS. I can never forget those.

Also, digital-only games means that they can easily be deleted
by those people, right?
Like what happened with, I think, Concord or something?
Oh. OH.
So here's some price comparisons, as far as I can tell.
Though, the conversions are probably gonna change again by
tomorrow.
$699.99 (American dollars)
£537.08
€635.47
¥99,329.98
R12,538.96
£699.99 (Pound sterling)
$912.60
€828.43
¥129,534.55
R16,346.40
€799.99 (Euros)
$881.25
£676.09
¥125,083.24
R15,792.59
¥119,980 (Japanese Yen)
$845.43
£651.25
€767.41
R15,148.97
According to this
HTML https://mybroadband.co.za/news/gaming/559936-ps5-pro-unveiled-with-big-price-tag.html:
--- Quote ---
> In South Africa, the standard PS5 currently retails for
R13,999, 56% higher than its $499 price in the US.
>
> Adding only the $200 difference (R3,581) of the US price to
the South African pricing would see the PS5 Pro priced from at
least R17,580.
>
> If the same 56% premium over the US price of the regular
console were applied to the Pro model, it could cost R19,570.
--- End Quote ---
So using those prices, the overseas equivalents would be, like.
R13,999 / R17,580 / R19,570 (South African Rand)
$781.87 / $981.39 / $1,092.44
£599.68 / £752.48 / £837.65
€709.69 / €890.59 / €991.40
¥111,014.87 / ¥139,368.97 / ¥155,145.09
Yeah.
Not sure how long that kinda money will last in a month, but I'm
pretty sure it'd be enough to get by on for at least two weeks,
going only for essentials.
Looks like Sony has become the victim of a greediness problem
again.
