Idea: an option between 8-bit sprites/songs/sounds and...
whatever classifies as "modern".
Idea: instead of a game over, the player gets kicked to the last
town they entered. (Except maybe on the hardest difficulty
setting...?)
[/quote]
If you want 8-bit, couldn't you just have all the Sprites in
Cave Story, just for the sake of referencing Kim's mod?
Getting kicked to the last town sounds reasonable. If Game Over
screens do appear, we could make it so that you can choose to
restart the battle, return to last save point or return to main
menu.

is this going to be another "pipe dream" (copyright parjamk
1922-2019) game that stays in permanent dev hell and never goes
past planning because oh yes it is

I suppose you're right, AFTRHR. I'm only doing this because
coming up with concepts is fun. And besides, we wouldn't have
the resources to make an actual Lunar Shadow RPG even if we
wanted to.

Who knows?
Maybe one day, something WILL come out of this.
I'll just be hopeful here~.
Plus I kinda need an ideas vent of sorts. Too many ideas bottled
up and my head'll hurt.
Headaches are awful.

And if it does, it's because this time we had far more realistic
expectations (unlike Vresun Ciraian Ruins) of what can actually
be done. But yeah, if you need to vent ideas, go for it.

Silly idea:
Something in the first town is revealed, and is easy to
overlook.
But if conditions are met, it gets brought up after the final
boss.
True final boss gets unlocked.
Good idea:
Many sidequests - all with rewards that are WORTH it. Nothing
lame like 10 coins just for killing 21 common tinfoil slimes or
whatever.
(A few sidequests get no rewards like this - their reward? True
final boss.)
Plus the option not to take rewards. (Why? Wynaut?)

IDEAS:
Affixes.
These would add benefits. Like. "Poisoned" would be a prefix
(may inflict poison). "Of the Badger" would be a suffix (+12 max
HP). Not sure about infixes, but these can stack (like "Poisoned
Dagger of the Badger").
Exclusives appear (Poisoned is exclusive to weapons) as well?
Ideas, ideas... :))

One of the things I have in my projects is that Poison is useful
against enemies with HP regen or healing magic. The poison, once
inflicted, causes the enemy's healing magic to damage them or
their allies instead.
But yeah, affixes could interesting as a game mechanic.
Provided, they work with the game's combat system.

Manaburn would inflict MP damage.
Anti-magic would cause that.
CARBN (Chemical, Anti-Magic, Radioactive, Biological, Nuclear)
weapons... those are super dangerous things.

So maybe Sycor could return as a Nuclear-type boss?
