Magic
Magic at its core is the act of utilizing the natural mana which
exists within all things to alter the weave of reality to one's
whim. While grander feats of magic are typically more potent and
impressive, even relatively weak or non-skilled individuals can
perform weaker magic with proper training and effort.
Magical Tiers
1st - 3rd Tier: Considered the introductory tiers, spells within
the first three tiers were what beginner mage students would be
trained on in order to learn the skills necessary to safely
wield magic.
4th - 6th Tier: Once a caster was considered to be a full
fledged mage spells within the 4th through 6th tiers would be
the majority of what a typical caster would utilize. Due to
this, the jump in power from 3rd tier to 4th and above is
relatively significant.
7th - 8th Tier: These tiers contain difficult spells that have
historically been restricted to being taught to only
accomplished casters of some renown. Difficult to control thanks
to the power they are capable of producing, the spells in this
range are notably more potent than those in the 4th - 6th tier
range.
9th - 10th Tier: Reserved for individual casters who have all
but mastered their craft. 9th and 10th tier spells are known to
be so destructive as to be capable of turning the tide of a
battle between two armies almost single-handedly.
11th Tier (Super Tier): Commonly called the 11th tier, Super
tier magic is a unique sub-type of magic. These spells all share
a trait of having incredibly long cast times, making them
traditionally unfit for battle. However, for a caster capable of
circumventing this drawback in some manner the power that these
spells offer is second to none. Historically only truly gifted
individuals have ever been known to utilize these spells.
12th Tier (Ultimate Tier): Another unique sub-type, Ultimate
tier magic, commonly called the 12th tier, works in somewhat of
an opposite fashion as Super tier. While Super tier magic is
characterized by incredibly long cast times but relatively low
mana costs for their potency, Ultimate tier spells universally
have no cast time whatsoever. In exchange for this convenience,
however, each costs an utterly astronomical amount of mana to
cast. Because of this these spells have only ever been capable
of being utilized by a very small number of individuals.
