Students slowly made their way into the large,
multi-tiered lecture hall before the official beginning of the
day's final course at Beacon. The start of the new year for the
trainees at the Hunters' academy being a mostly uneventful one;
the professors of the various courses primarily informing their
pupils of the various topics that would be being covered over
the course of the year. Ranging from such mundane matters as
history of the Association & hunting all the way to combat
training. At one corner in the very top row sat Lilith, silently
observing her fellows and listening into their conversations.
Naturally the woman was quite certainly not supposed to be here,
being both a vampire but a pureblood at that. However, thanks to
her tolerance to the sun combined with a special charm which
protected her from the tools which the academy used to detect
the supernatural she was all but completely hidden from being
discovered even in the very institution dedicated to training
those who would hunt her down. In truth her being here was
little more than entertainment for the ancient vampire, as she
was quite curious how long she could maintain her ruse for after
having forged documents to enroll as a first year in the three
year course.
It was as a dark-haired woman sat down a number of seats away
from her within the same row that Lilith suddenly heard the idle
conversation of the two students directly in front of her change
into more hushed whispers and, after a moment of listening, the
boys were clearly talking about the woman who had just sat down.
Curious, Lilith began to pay all her attention to the boys'
conversation and what they were saying about the newcomer. After
a short time she was able to distinguish that they were not
making simple conversation, but rather scathing accusations;
accusing her of being a 'fang lover'. She couldn't help but
smirk for a moment at how ridiculous a nickname for her kind the
mortals had.
Leaning forward, Lilith poked one of the boys on the shoulder to
get the attention of the duo. "Pardon me, I couldn't help but
overhear your conversation. I'm afraid I'm rather new to all of
this. First year, and well, my family doesn't exactly have a
history of hunting. Could you explain what you were talking
about?" She rubbed one hand on the back of her neck as she
spoke, intending to convey a sense of awkwardness for her lack
of understanding what was likely common knowledge amongst these
mortals. For their part the two men seemed rather understanding
and easily took up the proffered conversation. "You're new?
Would explain how you don't know. Well for your own good I'd
stay away from Alice, that girl sitting a few seats down from
you. She's a fang lover." Nodding along, Lilith continued from
where one of the two left off. "What makes you think that? I
mean, why would someone training to be a professional huntress
do something like that?"
This time the other of the two would respond to her, offering a
shrug as he did so. "Who cares what her reason is. She's a
traitor to all of us, not that I'm surprised by that. Stupid
Faunus." That comment made Lilith turn and take a second look at
the other woman. It was only then that she noticed the bright
white scales along her body and the tail lazily laying next to
her in the bench. She saw little difference between human and
Faunus as, to her, they were both mortal and were equal with one
another. However, paying proper attention to the woman now she
couldn't help but be momentarily enthralled by her beauty.
Taking a moment to compose herself, Lilith turned her attention
back to the two men in front of her. "Okay fine, but what reason
do you have to accuse her of something so grave? Surely such a
nasty rumor wouldn't start over nothing?"
That question brought a quiet laugh from both men in front of
her before one of them deigned to give her an answer. "Oh it
wasn't over nothing. A few weeks into her first year she came
into classes for the day and suddenly started spouting off
nonsense about trying to mediate with the monsters. About
'understanding them' and 'treating them as people' rather than
'exterminating them'. Course; that alone wouldn't be so unusual.
She certainly wouldn't be the first of us to say ridiculous ****
like that. Thing is though, the same day that all started she
had her wrist all bandaged up. Doesn't take a scholar to figure
out the connection there, y'know? Girlie clearly let one of the
monsters have a taste and turned traitor from it. So yeah, if
you know what's good for you keep your distance from her." Both
men turned to face the front of the lecture hall as the
professor entered, leaving Lilith to think of what they'd said.
While it was certainly an interesting story she couldn't help
but wonder if the mortals had simply jumped to conclusions or
not and decided that she'd pry into the matter for
herself.

Once the final course for the day had ended the student
body dispersed for the remainder of the afternoon and evening.
Lilith subtly followed the lizard Faunus woman for some time.
However, she seemed to be doing nothing of suspicion. As such,
when the sun was finally setting to give way to nightfall and
Alice was finally making her way out of campus, Lilith
intercepted her in the hallway that led to the main exit;
leaning up against the wall with her arms crossed over her
barely-covered chest. The stare she gave to the other woman as
she passed being enough to cause her to stop with a questioning
look upon her face, even if she was all too obviously trying to
keep herself from staring at Lilith's nearly completely exposed
upper body.
"Can I help you?" Although her tone was neutral, Lilith could
tell that there was a hint of annoyance in the Faunus' voice.
"Tell me; is it true what the others said about you?" This
question brought a scoff to Alice's lips in clear annoyance. "Of
course. Not even a single day and people are spreading rumors
about me to the first years. Look lady, if you want to think
that I'm banging one of them or something then go ahead; I don't
care." "Now now, I never said I believed what I was told. Still,
I can't help but be curious as to what would cause someone from
a family as well respected in the Association as the Rias' to
have a sudden change of heart."
That comment, more than anything, seemed to dampen Alice's mood.
She placed one hand on her hip & let out a heavy sigh before
giving a response. "You know about my family. Of course you do,
why am I surprised? So what then? You want to know my side of
the story? Fine. I ran across a vampire in my first year one
night. You'd think she would have attacked me, but no. Despite
the fact that she was clearly on the brink of frenzy from hunger
she just looked scared of me; terrified of the thought of losing
control and attacking me. Just killing her didn't sit right with
me, she hadn't done anything wrong. So, I bound her with silver
cuffs and promised to return. I went and fetched an empty water
bottle which I filled with my blood, thus the bandage on my
wrist the next day, and gave it to her. After I released her she
left peacefully. That night I spent a long time thinking about
the interaction with her and, afterwards, I just couldn't in
good conscience continue treating the supernatural as monsters.
That woman made me realize that most of them are just like us;
people."
To be quite honest the story wasn't what Lilith was expecting.
In fact, it left her genuinely surprised for a few moments upon
hearing its conclusion. During the momentary silence between the
two women Lilith made a split second decision to take a gamble
with this mortal. After all, she hadn't invested anything in her
placement at Beacon yet so even should the worst happen she
could simply move on without any loss. "How interesting. You
didn't even get bitten and still you're adamant about viewing us
as people rather than monsters?" This brought a scoff from Alice
as she responded, before realizing exactly what the other woman
had said. "Oh please. I don't have to bed a vampire to think-,
wait, what do you mean 'us'?"
As if waiting for that exact question Lilith momentarily shifted
her eyes from silver to crimson, staring at the Faunus woman for
long enough that there would be no way for her to mistake what
the other was, before allowing her eyes to return to their
silver state. "Why, I mean vampires like myself, darling." The
tone of voice Lilith used now was much more playful than before,
even approaching flirty. For her part, however, Alice was a
mixture between confused and concerned. Her gaze shifted between
the woman across from her and the sunlight still lightly shining
in through the window that Lilith was very obviously standing
in. "But you were in class this morning, you've been here all
day and the sun is still out. How...? No... Daywalker..." With
the realization finally coming from the Faunus' mouth Lilith
gave an exaggerated curtsy to the other woman before giving a
genuine smile.
"I prefer the term Pureblood, but I suppose you mortals have
your own word for us. But yes, you would be correct. Lilith
Sinclair at your service." With the concrete confirmation of
what she had thought, Alice's hand slowly began to reach down to
the sheathed dagger at her thigh. Almost as soon as she began to
move for it, however, Lilith eyed her with an annoyed look.
"Seriously? Honey if I wanted to harm or eat you, rest assured
that I would have done so already. I only revealed myself
because I was curious as to how you would react. Well, that and
it was impossible to resist letting such a beautiful woman
knowing my name." With that, Lilith gave Alice a small wink of
her one visible eye. Unfortunately the Faunus woman wasn't quite
as amused by the situation, even if she did visibly flush
slightly at the compliment. "Let's say I believe you. Mind
explaining what you're doing infiltrating the most well renowned
Hunters' academy? How were you even able to do it? The
Association has tools to check for the supernatural at every
possible entrance and in the initial screening for applicants."
This elicited a small giggle from Lilith. "Oh please. I'm well
versed in circumventing the trivial methods you mortals have of
detecting my kind. As to why I'm here? To be frank, boredom. I
thought it would be entertaining to see what one of these
academies was like for myself. Maybe get a better look into you
hunter's view of us. Now if you're wondering why I told you
about myself, well, after hearing such scandalous rumors about
you I thought it would be fun. It isn't like anyone would
believe the 'fang lover' were she to claim that their classmate
were a vampire, and especially not a 'daywalker'. So let's just
keep this between us, yeah? Thanks darling." Blowing a kiss
towards the mortal woman, Lilith gave her another flirty wink
before turning and making her way out of the building.
