Hunters' Association: As the name suggests, the Hunters'
Association is a group made up of hunters & huntresses of the
various mortal races. The Association accepts members from any
background and race so long as they are not among the
supernatural. Thanks to their tireless efforts to ensure a safe
world for the mortal races the Association has become a major
power within the continent, overshadowing even major religious
institutions and having a large sway in the very government
itself. While the origins of the Association placed them in more
of an overwatch & peace-keeping capacity, the modern iteration
of the group has evolved into much more of a fire & brimstone
approach. While hunters of times past would prefer to mediate in
supernatural affairs to ensure both peace was kept and that no
innocents were harmed, more modern hunters prefer to simply
stamp out any supernatural presence entirely.
Eternity: A small underground group originally formed by a sect
of vampires seeking a safe, peaceful life away from the eyes of
the Hunters' Association. It has since grown into a resistance
movement aiming at the dismantlement & reform of the Association
back into its roots. With this evolution from seclusion to
resistance the group has opened its arms to any of the
supernatural; be they lycan or vampire. This can occasionally
cause some tensions to rise thanks to the long history of
fighting between the two supernatural species. However, those in
leadership positions do all they can to quell these issues
whenever they arise. While many lone vampires & lycans choose to
act as the monsters that the Association claims them to be,
those of Eternity prefer instead to primarily act through
peaceful protest and organization. They believe that if they
fight back against the mortals, regardless of how justified
their actions may be in any given circumstance, that it will
only lead to even harsher treatment from the natural races;
seeing their actions are vindication towards their beliefs.
The Eight Lines: The eight clans of original vampires, called
"daywalkers" by mortals due to their ability to exist within the
presence of the sun. The natural races know pitifully little
about them beyond the fact that they are not killed by the sun
and that their normal methods of slaying vampires seem to have
little effect on them. To vampires of the Lines themselves, they
know that each clan possesses a unique trait which they are
supremely proficient at.
Schnee Line: Commonly considered the first of the Lines to be
created by the Dark Mother, the Schnee line is known to be the
blood of authority. In more ancient times the Schnees were the
kings & queens of vampire kind. However, in more modern times
they act more as the leader of an organization. In spite of
these changes, the Schnees are used to being heard and obeyed,
without question.
Sinclair Line: The Sinclairs were gifted with a penchant for
hemomancy. Or rather, control over the very blood which their
kind rely upon. Because of this power and the potential it has
to be dangerous to others of their kind the Schnees proclaimed
the Sinclairs as the protectors & enforcers of the Lines. Often
taking orders directly from the head of the Schnee clan, the
Sinclairs were the ones who maintained order within vampire
society. A command from a Sinclair was often obeyed without
hesitation as it was commonly understood that, typically, a
Sinclair was acting with the authority of a Schnee.
Adel Line: While others of the Lines are capable of transforming
into their more bestial forms in order to enhance their powers,
the Adels are known as models of mortal beauty. This is both a
blessing and a curse; as the Adel line is incapable of shifting
forms. Because of this the Adels have full access to their
enhanced abilities at all times, however, this also means that
their enhanced weaknesses are also perpetually present. Their
creator did think ahead in regards to this weakness, thankfully,
and the Adel line has even greater resistance to the natural
weaknesses of vampires than the other lines.
Fall Line: Seen as paragons of control, the Fall line are
possessed of a willpower & self control beyond even other
immortals' capabilities. This most commonly manifests in regards
to the vampire's hunger, rendering the Falls all but incapable
of succumbing to the frenzy of bloodlust. However, this also
extends to the other aspects of the vampire's self control as
well.
Sustrai Line: Typically vampires, even those of the Lines, do
not drink the blood of other vampires. The reason for this is
simply because vampire blood both provides no sustenance to a
vampire as well as having a naturally repulsive taste. For the
Sustrai line, however, this statement does not hold true. A
Sustrai is capable of ingesting another vampire's blood in order
to greatly enhance their own abilities for a time. The duration
and potency of this increase is determined by the strength of
the vampire whose blood they drink, with those of the Lines
being particularly powerful.
Malachite Line: The Malachites were gifted with the ability to
manipulate shadows. While this starts off as simply those nearby
the vampire, with practice & experience a Malachite is capable
of manipulating even shadows a great distance from themselves.
Because of this ability the Malachite line are experts at such
tasks as infiltration and spying, with the Schnees making great
use of them as scouts and information gatherers both in ancient
and even more modern time.
Belladona Line: Whereas all vampires, both pureblood and not,
possess a venom capable of causing an aphrodisiac-like effect in
mortals, Belladona venom is unique in that it is lethal to both
lycans and common vampires. Vampires of the Lines are,
thankfully, immune to this special trait, preventing the other
bloodlines from feeling any wary or fear towards the Belladonas.
However, due to their unique venom the Belladona line acts as
the primary group of hunters among the Lines. They are tasked
with tracking and eliminating any wayward vampire or lycan that
puts the rest of their kind in undue risk or peril, or risks
exposing the existence of the supernatural to the common
citizen.
Khan Line: While the other bloodlines all have unique traits,
the Khan line is unique in their own right for their explicit
lack of one. Being the last of the bloodlines created by the
Dark Mother, the Khans were gifted with no special ability to
differentiate them from the others of the Lines. This has led
some within the other clans to look down on the Khans, seeing
them as little more than common vampires. In spite of this,
however, the Khans are still very much of the Lines and share
all of the advantages that their pureblood heritage grants them,
just as any other clan.
